Boss of G Shocks, my prized possession. Japanese build quality outstanding. Seiya Japan the place to order from. Customer service is amazing. Got a 5610 as a beater, also a killer G Shock, but 5000 is the daddy! 👍
God Bless Texas ! Thanks for the great reviews on these watches. As an Armory, I must add that recoil does not cause damaged or time loss like on watches made with gears and springs. I love the bracelet, but genuine Casio (the only way to go) are not inexpensive.
Thank you for the great video! I was just gifted this watch, and your review helped me appreciate it much more. Excellent content and clean production.
Put a combi on mine too. Love it. Way better than the metal squares, especially because the metal squares are scratch magnets. This also has class but far tougher aesthetics.
There are two things that the basic DW-5600E-1V is best at: The alarm that can be set for the month/day, and the indicator light that can be set for the alarm. None of the Solar G-Shocks know these two things, I don't even understand the designers, why they didn't include them...
I've got one of these, the GW-5000-1JF , but without the combi, as well as a GW-M5610BC-1JF and the base model DW5600E-1V . For the life of me, I can not understand why Casio does not sell this bracelet band as an accessory. Keeping with the thought that supply and demand can make a rare thing cost more, it's only been available on one watch, the GW-M5610BC-1JF. And when they were, like the GW-5000, they were a JDM(Japanese Domestic Product) product only. But they don't even sell this band at all. I'd be willing to bet they could sell a bunch of these and get a larger return on the tooling costs to make these. I've got 3 versions of the good ole' square G-Shock, and would snap up a real combi band for the other 2 in a heartbeat. I just like a bracelet band better. I can understand why some would like a strap like someone mentioned and it was a valid point. To each his own! Can't agree more about the difference between the 5000 and the base model. It just feels better and that metal case with screw on back just oozes quality. Thanks for sharing this.
Interesting, that looks like the combi bracelet from the newer squares with the Bluetooth, someone else had told me the new squares and older squares don't have the same fitting bracelets/bands, but seeing this they do.
The “Goldilocks”, happy medium of my 3 square collection. 5610u for lightness and a Japanese nod to the Bauhaus movement in colour and design. A do everything beater with a very functional 3459 module. At the other end is my GMW 5000 all metal, black, DLC coated, STN, negative display. The original “Stealth Wealth” watch that is more dress watch friendly when that is required before the much more expensive titanium and MR G series came in. Which leaves the centre spot for the GW 5000u (the updated 3459 version from the watch in this video). Just enough heft to give a quality feel (without the steel diver watch bulk that can get too much with extended wear times and moves around on the wrist) but with the shark skin like comfort of upgraded resin/rubber/polyurethane. Essentially, its a steel watch in a wetsuit. :-)
Looks cool !awesome video and a watch ! but as a diver !always willing to contribute! i dont recomend to do scuba with that sorta bracelet because the watch underwater tends to be to tie and will easily fall apart unless the bracelet has diver extensions things we should say during the briefing. silicone and nato straps are the best option to do scuba diving.
Looks like an awesome combo! Did you had a hard time fitting the composite bracelet onto this model? I wonder if it fits the new updated version GW-5000U with the thick screw down case back. The bracelet on Casio website does not state to many compatible models. Cheers
(Texas of Heart Armory Where) may I purchase the Combi bracelet for my G-Shock GW 5000U -1JF? I live in Torrance, California, 90503. I would greatly appreciate the assistance.
I've got a GMW-B5000G-1 - one of the 'full metal' squares with a positive display, black bezel, resin strap. I got it new, but on sale, and it cost less than the GW-5000 + the combi, and it's lighter (by just a few grams haha). Has all the same features as the GW-5000 with the benefits of bigger easier to use buttons, better backlight, improved STN display, and the ability to use Bluetooth to sync/adjust it. It's a better watch in every way than the GW-5000 IMO...UNLESS, you just really want a resin-bezeled watch.
So does the combi bracelet fit this watch as standard without any mod/alteration? I saw somewhere that because of the screwdown back the fitting was different.
@@watchthis90 Love it but I may have ruined the strap and bezel with hot water. Might replace them. I have several others now including a DW-5600E which is not too cheap for me at all! I wear it every day for work. I even bought a second one and the new LED backlight version.
Maybe the material on the DW-5600 will break in 10 years, but if you used the watch, the 5000 will look pretty bad in 10 years too. Even though the watch is metal, the seals also wear out in 10 years. Indestructibility is an illusion. You can buy a new one for 5600 every 5 years and you will never have any problems. Or buy 5610 and get all the functions of 5000, with a louder alarm, easier to press buttons, in a 52 gram watch. Believe me, you will never use the advantage of the watch that comes from being metal, because the 5600/5610 is also indestructible.
Yes I would agree with most are saying, in that the alarm is not very loud. It is loud enough to wake me, but only if the watch is either being worn or if it's close by on a nightstand. 3 ft and in it is usable, but the farther you get away from that the less effective that alarm is going to be. I do wish it was a tad louder. But it does get the job done if it's close by. Hope that helps!
Premium product with cheap mineral glass , its kinda blows my mind how so many people think this is some sort of good deal or quality product as if a screw down back is some sort of feature .

I bought GW-5000U-1JF, the new improved version and it is fabulous.
How would you rate the loudness of the alarm? It seems to be a point of criticism for quite a lot owners as it’s apparently too low…
@@bikemike1118 It is ok for what it is. It is not to wake you up but to remind you of things.

The squares from the 80s and 90s aren't comparable. The older models had 18mm lugs while the newer models have 16mm

Nice your watch was made on Christmas day.
My beater watch 😁👌
But without the combi bracelet, instead with adapter and nato strap
Hi, where could I buy the adaptors and nato strap from?
Same setup here, Army green NATO with a bull bar...I love this watch ✝️🇺🇸🤙🏻🅰️

I take care watches to much.. i just switch straps before dives and have fun.
Awesome "sleeper" watch. Less likely to get attention than your blue bezel Omega 007 watch! LOL

Good luck finding a strap for that one after the first worns out
Maaaann I have to stop seeing watch vids, I want them all, just one question, does it come with the dagger?
That's the Benchmade SOCP mini. Awesome blade! I can hook you up with a sweet deal if you decide to purchase one.

You should compare it with g5600
