I understand what ludwig was cooking, though. Ludwig is saying that the trend of gooning goes against the convention of instant gratification because it's constantly staying away from gratification. Tha problem is that gooning is still gratification. It's supposed to feel good in the moment. It's not suffering for a greater reward, it's feeling good for feeling good's sake, you just avoid the process that makes it stop.

"Gooning" is the next step where after doing it for so long that you start entering a sort of trance where your head is empty and can only focus on your pleasure. The key point is to not stop until you reach the state, and then staying in this state for as long as you can (or at leasst as long as you want it to be).
It's extremely pleasurable but can be addicting for some. As long as you keep it in check and not make it take over your life, it's alright, and the release is that much more pleasurable. So yeah, do it with caution, it can genuinely be too much for some.
