    parts:
    bnr st71 turbo
    xdi 35 hpfp
    xdi 2000 Cc injectors
    cvf intercooler
    depo charge pipes
    tial q bov tigged into hot side pipe
    woosh catted downpipe
    rs intake
    custom dual vented catch cans
    radium pcv plates
    fuff 2.5 purge valve line
    exhaust cutout ( not yet installed)
    * 5 drilled and tapped hole locations on exhaust housing but only 4 usable
    Tuning by MonsterTuned
    I will follow up with a finalization video of charge pipes and the intake.
    depo charge pipes BARELY fit. I also have to trim the inlet reducer substantially, there is only about a 1.25" gap between the rs intake coupler and turbo inlet. more to come.

    Looks good, This might be my next install. I've been running two port aux, but after snapping a rod; I want the ECU to control everything. Keep up the the good work and best of luck

      Exactly why i stayed away from anything piggyback. If this were just a regular overhead cam motor I'd think differently, but with the direct injection and ecu strategy, it's well worth the money to invest in the xdi stuff. The ability to run full e85 and have that knock protection is an exciting prospect!
      It also leaves headroom for big power if I want to go to a bigger turbo and ewg down the road with some better bottom end components.

      @@silversentrav gotcha. I like the specs of the sp63 short block. Will most likely source a junkyard escape motor and have a short block ready to go with some better components this year.

      @silversentrav I'll look into the x clutch.. was going to run a spec stage 3 or 4.. what are specs on your x clutch? Did you stick with the DMF ? I don't feel like upgrading internal Trans components other than synchros.

    nice set up! Ive got the bnr71 and xdi35 sitting in my garage since last Nov...with 2 kids i havent set aside a weekend for the install..also doing my bluetooth ethanol sensor and brembo RS upgrade.. so it'll be a whole new car once i'm actually done XD
    i didnt go with injectors because im shooting for a 410-420whp/420wtq set up conservatively, not wanting to kill my engine just yet lol... the pump should get me there easily, i just cant run full e85. Im happy with e30 though, im used to the mixture and the 71/xdi35/e30 will net 420whp with ease im sure.
    i heard the oem oil drain line can be an issue on these with a smaller diameter, and theres an upgrade in the works by someone on the forums/fost/fors facebook groups. id be interested in seeing the actual install portion... i was going to remove the axle but i think ill just do the rmm and wiggle the engine, should be sufficient if i take my time...
    im assuming by now youre tuned and running good...are you doing all this on the factory clutch? i track mine and hit the twisties every month or two, so i need mine to hold the power...so ill be looking into a clutch in the near future as well.

      Hey man, you will love it. Tuning still isn’t done w the car. I also have a family, I’m a mech engineer by day, and I’m back in school full time so I’ve had zero time to work on the car.
      When we tune for ethanol it will be e50. E85 even with the full xdi setup isn’t feasible from s reliability standpoint . It will kill the pump eventually , even though xdi advertises full e85. I have a video on it.
      Shooting for safe power on pump gas, 390-400 and 450 on e50. Stock motor, stock clutch.
      I have no oil drain issues, but a big thing people don’t do on these cars Is a good vented pcv system. I have a very robust vented dual catch can setup with the radium plate , and an additional third breather. Check my video on that. The adequate crankcase ventilation fixes any oil drain problems .
      I don’t track the car, it’s just a fun commuter and freeway sleeper. Even right now with 19 psi, and fuel trim issues on pump gas it will spin third on the freeway.
      I’m also on the forum so reach out if you need help. You don’t need to pull the axle or anything . The actual turbo install took 20 minutes. My catch can install and downpipe install was the only tedious process, everything else was very easy which is why I went with BNR. Literally slipped right in didnt haven’t to remove anything.

      @@DirtFiend602 thats awesome to hear how simple the install itself was...im running the cPE cold side with HKS bov and that was prob the hardest thing ive had to do...theres literally no room for adjustments really.. I already annulled my copper washers, and assembled the turbo bits...i just need to go over a list of things to do, fluids to have on hand, what to expect for the stuff that drains....etc. I have 85k miles on my 2016, oil changed regularly and i check my 2 catch cans (non-vented) regularly as well. I even change my NGK plugs out every 1.5 oil changes (about 7-8k miles just because its so cheap to do so).
      stinks you havent polished up your tune yet, i know life gets in the way even for something as simple as a datalog and sending the file in...then flashing it. Brian at JST is super fast, he did my fbo e30 set up and so I'm sticking with him on the BT set up since he knows my car and will have a good baseline.
      i mostly only run mine hard in 3-5th gears, i like top end. I run with a lot of higher powered cars in the twisties and i can out run anything on the track and the back roads, but the straight runs on highways are terrible..we get out quick, then the poor little K03 just says 'nope' and tapers off quickly around 100mph XD I was never much of a drag racer in any of my FWD cars (just spins even with good tires) plus thats where a lot of things break...and i dont floor it under 2500rpm.
      thanks for the response...im def encouraged to know that the install itself isnt too bad, just gotta focus on making sure everythings installed and torqued properly, and ive been eyeing an upgraded pcv plate with an extra port. i have a JLT rear (intake pipe) and a Damon manifold catch can already..neither have collected much the last few oil changes, but im sure on a BT it'll be pushing more psi in the crankcase
      my biggest concern is the clutch...so i most likely wont be tracking it until i upgrade the clutch as well

      @DirtFiend602  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dham99 I’ll be upgrading to an rs clutch or spec 3 with the oem dmfw and rs slave.
      Agreed on the gutless ko3. It’s nice to have a good power curve above 6k. The nice thing about the bigger injector with the pump is we can make good power through the whole range up to redline .
      Eventually I will do a forged block, I’d like to see 550 go out of this thing down the road for a fun sleeper roll race car.
      The tuning process has been quite involved , well over 50 revisions to get the massive injectors to idle right with 91. I would definitely consider adding vents to the can(s) and a ported pcv plate from Damond or radium .

      @@DirtFiend602 I just realized, you said FIFTY revisions?! :O thats a lot...I'm currently on 6 or 7, I'm seeing 23-24psi on my 3rd and 4th gear pulls. I'm also on stock HPFP and 93 pump gas...stock injectors. Brian said its prob not worth tuning for E30 on this set up since theres no room for more power with the fuel limits...so I was hoping my HPFP (XDi35) alone will net me over 400whp even if its pushing the stock injectors a bit.. I saw that I could get a set of new RS injectors for under $200 shipped, those may be a good alternative to squeeze out some of that higher RPM power I'm wanting since I'm not trying to go big power (450whp+)

    • @DirtFiend602
      @DirtFiend602  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dham99 he’s right . The rs injectors will get you some more headroom at high rpm maybe 10% , but maybe not enough for e30. The xdi injectors have proven to be a tremendous pain in the ass. They do not like pump gas.

    Is the cold side charge pipe with bov needed for this install?

    • @DirtFiend602
      @DirtFiend602  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Either on the cold or hot side but you must have an external bov for this turbo. The hot side has 100x more room for a bov as opposed to the cold side. The cold side barely fits and can cause false knock… which is why I tig welded my own flange onto a depo racing hot side pipe.
