    Balancing CPU & GPU clocks is crucial for optimal device performance and may help reduce stuttering or sudden frame drops.
    While going beyond a 30W power limit may not always provide significant performance gains, it allows for better power distribution, which can enhance stability and responsiveness in demanding games.

    Thanks for the quality tips for all the videos, but I'm not very convinced about these settings for this one.
    Have you tried in the custom settings tab : AMD Precision Boost Overdrive / AMD Curve Optimiser / AMD Per-Core Curve Optimiser ? (I'm using V2.3.0 - Beta 3)
    I don't know if they are working properly with the Z1E but this could be a better tunning for performances.

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doesn't seem like the Z1 Extreme supports AMD PBO. If you check the specs, you won't find it listed. AMD is usually transparent about its hardware features. I once set it all the way to -30 magnitude and checked the voltage in HWinfo while running Cinebench, but it was still the same. I don't think precision boost override with curve optimizer is unlocked on the Z1 Extreme. It's an undervolting feature, and the voltage is locked on this chip.
      I use AMD curve optimizer on my Ryzen desktop, and it works wonders.
      Usually, when you change it to a low negative point, it becomes unstable. On the other hand, if I shift it to the maximum, nothing happens on ally
      I'll check again.
      looking at the Z1 Extreme page, it clearly states: support AMD super resolution, AMD Radeon chill, AMD Radeon anti-lag, and AMD Radeon boost.

    I really love your videos. But I have a question. If you turn cpu boost off but set the minimum cpu clock to say 3.8ghz will it run at 3.8 or downclock to the non boost speed of 3.3?

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will stay at 3.3 GHz no matter what you change. With CPU boost off, you will be at the designed base clock. The CPU boost option takes precedence over manual clock changes.
      It's ideal for saving power and also for providing a higher GPU clock, but emulators depend on the CPU to do their emulation process, so I found that it is better to have CPU boost on in that case.
      Also, generally, when you have higher clocks for both the CPU and GPU, you will get stable performance and improve low FPS much more than average. It may not be the case in all scenarios, depending on the game optimization to begin with, but generally, boosted clocks ensure you get consistent performance.
      Edit: I'm glad you love the videos. You honor me ✌️

      well said, Smokeless tool has EDC, and TDC limits and I never lay a finger on them, VRM limits are predefined depending on VRM and motherboard specs, even when handling those limits on desktop-based Ryzen motherboards, it's best to know your motherboard limits before changing them

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, since you do not need the iGPU at all in this case, allocating all power to the CPU will minimize CPU bottlenecking in your discrete GPU setup. Good strategy

    Thank you for your video. After watching it, I have a question: should CPU Boost or Turbo Boost, be enabled? If it is always on, will it cause the CPU and GPU to compete for power for gaming❤❤❤?

    • @TECHOSAUR
      @TECHOSAUR  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it really depends. With CPU boost off, you will save some power and keep CPU at the base clock, which is 3.3 GHz. It can boost up to 5.1 GHz but only for single-core workloads. For multi-core workloads like games, it usually boosts 4.1 GHz.
      So, from 3.3 GHz to 4.1 GHz, you are not losing a lot in most of times. And this way, you can allocate that extra power to the GPU.
      But I found that nevertheless, if you want your GPU to be at peak performance clock, which is 2.5 GHz, you will have to set the TDP to 35-40 W with CPU boost off. If you want CPU boost on and get the maximum CPU clock to 4.1 GHz and GPU clock to 2.5 GHz, you set the TDP to 45 W.
      But your cooling plays a crucial role. If you don't max out the fans or have a modded back cover with better airflow to the APU, you will thermal throttle and just end up losing more performance and causing premature component failure. So, it's a good idea to monitor temps when going higher than 30 W, at least initially, until you are assured it's okay.
      If u want my personal setup, I usually keep cpu boost ON, perhaps most users turn it off but there are games that are cpu sensitive and may use GPU at like 1.5Ghz while require higher CPU one and for those ones boosting helps, an example is emulators which use CPU quite more intensively than GPU, like Switch emulators

      That's how I usually monitor FPS with AFMF On.ASUS released a new GPU driver that natively supports AFMF with their OEM GPU driver. I also read somewhere that they will add support to monitor AFMF in their overlay. Did you check armory crate for an update as well?
      It might have been released already. Otherwise, I'll check it too.

      @@yutongduan1934 actually disabling Smart Access Memory isn't a good idea as SAM enables AMD Ryzen processors to harness the full potential of the GPU. It provides increased performance with an all-AMD setup, however I'll check if you can disable it so you can at least see if the overlay would show, and if there's any performance change.

      Some users play in stationary mode; you can always switch profiles. Nothing is permanent.
      I think it's similar to when you dock a Switch.
      FPS gains aren't significant, but if you think about it, a fixed GPU clock is often useful to avoid sudden frame dips.
      Also, if you disable CPU boost, you can easily get a high GPU clock of 2500 MHz fixed at 38 W.
      So u could set TDP to a maximum of 40 W, with CPU boost off. And set a high GPU clock, a win for modern titles. you can give it a try. I didn't test a lot of games on it. But if you like, I can
      Also I tried the hardest game to gain any performance at 😅
      Cyberpunk is hardly getting a boost no matter what. Maybe a focus on competitive lightweight ones may do better
