    I'd like to see ROG take advantage of the Ryzen AI cores (assuming it's on the Z1 Extreme like the Ryzen 7 7840U) to learn based off of what type of games you are playing. If possible in the bios on a firmware level they could recommend turning off cores or HT, setting cpu clocks base and boost etc to conserve power and give it to the 780m where it typically needs it most. Single thread perf is still king in terms of gaming and as the Steamdeck has shown 4 cores / threads is enough for most titles

    • @brunobsouzac
      @brunobsouzac ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope that the new configuration of cores that AMD intends to bring this year (launch only in 2024), 4 cores for performance and 4 for efficiency will further improve batteries and performance. Allied to a good job of AI embedded in the SoC, we will have an intelligent control of cores. She releases the code to the developers, who knows we won't have it all working "automatically" in the titles too

    Your thumbnail-to-video transition is not only creative and unique, it's a great way of immediately "stepping into" your video with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get thumbnail, and there's no jarring hop between clicking an over-photoshopped thumbnail "ad" and seeing the actual intro.
    Honestly, after seeing this, I wish more videos did this as I'm only seeing artificially crafted thumbnails on my recommended column to the right, and I know that none of them truly represent what's actually waiting for me in the videos. Good job at making something unique and well-designed 👏
    EDIT: after seeing more of your videos, it's such a warm and welcoming feeling that the guy in the thumbnail is _actually_ waiting for me and starts right where I expect him to be, instead of being a marketing cardboard cutout of a stock photo guy. What I see is truly what I get, and it's a nice feeling thinking the person is really waiting for me to get inside.

    Good morning, Cary. As always, pretty good video and analysis. For all of the handhelds, I think there's going to be even more interesting stuff that we should (relatively) soon be able to do, with TDP and other aspects of handhelds, whereas AMD-based CPU/GPU is concerned.
    As you might know, Microsoft presently has a couple projects in-store that may help us, on processes, whereas Windows is concerned. I think that what's being worked on will help, not only ROG Team, but everyone working in the x64 "gaming UMPC" space; past, present and future.
    At present, I like where Dynamic TDP is going, but is still in it's infancy. Any company's handheld and portable teams working on this helps benefit both the consumer and companies, as it helps expand portability potential, and we're just basically getting started.
    The next five years are going to be exciting for enthusiasts and fans of the portable computing and gaming world.

    I havent tried this in person, however my concern with a tool such as this would be stuttery performance. Usually when you are cutting it very close to a target performance - you tend to get a lot of stuttering and hitches - which is the entire reason that something like freesync premium is gamechanging. If you are ahead of the target fps in terms of spec and power and clocks - frametimes under that tend to stabilize and you get quite seamless performance when you cap the fps. Then freesync catches the anomalies around that cap. This is the ideal scenario, the most seamless experience. However if your power is only giving you a fraction higher or lower than the target, i don't think even vrr could entirely mask the stutters. There needs to be an auto tdp that gives you a little headroom on top of the target at all times, so you still get "some" savings yet you aren't introducing the issues on one front that you're solving on another front.

    Intriguing to see how much more efficiency can be squeezed out of the Z1E chipset. We always knew there were updates from ASUS and AMD to be had down the line, but doubling your battery with one tool from the community is very impressive. Here's hoping it gets packaged into an easy-to-use interface!

    • @lonelygoner2012

      Asus needs to continue to talk with AMD to find ways to squeeze more power at lower tdp's. Also the reviewers Ally units as soon as soon as you booted up the system it would go to the UI instead of Win11, this is something they can implement via update and it would make it inmensly better
