In my experience, Bazzite updates and feature additions have been coming in much faster than Lenovo has been able to add them on the Windows side. It's not even a contest.
What boggles my mind is Microsoft have a big screen UI already on the Xbox yet they refuse to bring that to windows as having an option to replace the default explorer with the Xbox UI would make using devices like this so much nicer, the Xbox app for PC is pretty half assed for what it is.
The Microsoft that works on Windows is entirely different company than the one that works on XBox. The type of lateral thinking you are suggesting is likely impossible at a corporate bureaucracy as complex as MS.

I used to think like you and was skeptical about whether Bazzite would be a good OS, so I tried it on my old OneXPlayer s1 before installing it on my Legion Go and was impressed with the performance improvement in some games compared to the performance I was getting on Windows.
I prefer the Steam Deck console experience to Windows. Mainly because of the sleep/resume feature and how quick it is to get in a game. I may have to give Windows handhelds another shot because this basically makes them a more powerful Steam Deck.
If anyone still needs the answer then the simple answer is NO. The more complex answer is "it depends on the game". Because everybody limits the power of apu, everything depends on this limit. If you play the same game with the same tdp limit, there won't be any difference. No magic. If the game runs faster and you can lower the tdp while keeping the same performance, then you will have a better battery life. For example, Detroit Become human runs much faster on bazzite, so I can keep 15w limit with native 800p and custom settings (medium + ultra textures) with 30 fps, while windows requires at least 18w and 80% scaling to achieve the same performance. But that's a single game, check out games you play
I think I might have to load this on my Legion Go. My only issue is the Legion Go is my only Windows PC, but I also have a MacBook. I don’t think I really need Windows though. The only thing would be to get stuff on my Retroid Pocket 2s but I think I’m pretty good there.
Nothing special. The main difference is game performance. The more performance, the less tdp limit can be set. If the same tdp limit, you will get the same battery life

Windows 8 was crap, but it was focused on touch. Then Windows 10 still had a tablet mode that was better for touch. Slowly, they stripped it all away.
