How to fill air in car tyres UK

- Hi guys,
In this video, I will show you how to use . It's obvious, and most of you might already know it.
Using an air pump at a gas station is a convenient and easy way to inflate a tire.
However, for some, it could be pretty challenging. Or if you are using it for the first time. For example, I once saw an aged person struggling to change the pressure. He thought the machine was broken. I helped him out there but later thought a video might be helpful.
So How much does it cost to pump air at a gas station? Usually, the machine takes 20p, 50p or a pound.
I am using Morrison’s gas station pump, which charges 20p per minute
It usually happens with some; they insert the coin first and then start filling. In that case, the machine could stop while some work is still left. Therefore, I have broken it into a few steps to make it easy.
1 Select the pressure ( it can be swapped with step 2)
2. Remove the cap from all the tyres
3. Insert coin, or you can do contactless( usually 20 p does all the job)
4. Fill the tyres by slightly pushing the end into the tyre.
5 Put all the caps back on.

This is wrong! The recommended tyre pressures are for a COLD tyre, so when you drive to this pump, they're hot. You still have underinflated tyres and will affect your fuel consumption.
As a guide, if your recommended pressure is 33psi, then refill to 37psi on this machine to compensate for the temperature. When it cools, it will be close to 33.
I guess you missed the part where I mentioned that the guide I was referring to actually follows the manufacturer's instructions on how to fill your car tyres properly. I wanted to clarify something that I may have missed mentioning earlier.
Just a quick heads up, though: these instructions are specifically for cold tyres. It's definitely not recommended to fill up hot tyres, so it's best to let them cool down first. Also, if the instruction book mentions anything about extra pressure based on factors like miles per hour or other driving conditions, it's definitely worth taking note of. Hope that clears things up. Well, it doesn't make the video wrong, does it?
@@Quilwil Yes, it's wrong and I haven't "missed the part" as you didn't follow manufacturer recommendations as you claim. You have literally filmed yourself inflating warm tyres to their cold pressure. Too many people keep doing this and have underinflated tyres, which gives worse fuel consumption and TPMS lights keep coming on where fitted, so don't act as if I'm wrong for mentioning it.
Omg, what did you eat in the morning 🤣.
What made you think I filled warm tyres?
Come on, man, life is too short for arguments, peace ✌️
Your comment deserves the spotlight. I'll pin it to the top, so everyone can see it and benefit from your valuable input.
@@Quilwil I'm not trying to be offensive to you or belligerent; I also like pretty Indian ladies and liked your videos on the English and Scottish confusing accents.. I'm simply pointing out that you have made a mistake and showing people "how to" do this will mean they too will have underinflated tyres.
You have driven the car to the petrol station with the inflation machine, yes? Then it's a warm tyre. You have to do them on a cool morning when the car hasn't been driven that day, or compensate for the extra pressure like so.. th-cam.com/users/shortsyX3Dbv5TIsM?si=ksaAGAwasT6uww5K
Thanks for pinning it though and sorry if it came across as argumentative. Honestly, when you next go here after driving, inflate to 37psi and your S80/S90 will get better fuel economy and be near the correct recommended pressure.
@@boilerhousegarageHey, Don’t worry about it
You are a nice person, I'm glad you liked my other videos.
The gas station is next to my house, which is handy, I'll try your strategy this time😄
The most helpful video I’ve seen of how to do this in the UK 👍🏼 thank you!
Awee, that's very kind of you. Most welcome dear.
Thank you. This task is easy, but only if you know how, so big thankyou. Been driving 35 years and only just learnt!
This is awesome. I can't believe that a skilled and knowledgeable driver found my video to be incredibly helpful😍 It's thrilling to hear that my content is making a difference and impacting the lives of experts in the field.
Oh wow! Thank you so much, felt quite anxious about doing this for the first time and this genuine made me feel so calm about giving it a go!!
That’s good to know, I am glad that it was helpful. Surely, you would do it easily. Let me know if you face any issues.
Been driving for over 10 years but its my first time driving in the UK and doing this by myself. Thank you!😁
That’s great; you found it helpful. It made me think about why I haven’t made a video before. Happy to help. Cheers 😊
It's pretty easy and obvious, but if you haven't done it before, here's some help.
Thank you your video gave me courage and I just filled air wohoo 😂
That's great, proud of you my friend. Keep growing 😍❤️
Like we people are new, this video is helpful for me.. Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏
I am glad that you found it beneficial. I hope you are settling well. Cheers.
Thanks for this! I’ve been driving for years but never did this myself 🙈 but this video gave me a lot of confidence! Thanks
That’s alright, Donna; there can be a first time for anything. Glad you feel confident, I am sure it would be a piece of cake for you😄.You are most welcome ❤️❤️
I've never done it and I do need too,
Does it tell you your pressure its at already
You don't have to worry about the pressure in your tyres anymore. You see, when you set the pressure, it will be automatically adjusted, ensuring that your tyres are neither overinflated nor underinflated. And if that's not enough, you can also check the pressure with the car kit or at the gas station if they have a pressure gauge.
This is super helpful, thank you!
I'm so glad!
Thanks so much! Legend!❤
Wow, that's absolutely amazing! Your kind gesture has made me feel overjoyed. Seeing my videos making a difference is so thrilling and fulfilling😍😍
@@Quilwil :) You are most welcome my precious 😍
Thanks for posting this helpful stuff..🙏👍
You are welcome, Ahmed. I am pleased that the video was fruitful 💕
What if I put in the wrong psi
The pressure in your tyres is super important for your car's performance. If your tyres are overinflated or underinflated, it can affect how your car handles. Plus, if your tyres are underinflated, your mileage can also decrease.
Thank you, very helpful video.
Always a Pleasure to Help. You are so nice, Richie, and It’s lovely to hear your positive feedback!
Thank you for the video. We went to fill yesterday and thought the buzzing sound of the air is beep. After watching this going back again as i feel tyres are over inflated
Right, it's good to check, just in case. Yes, the machine cannot fill air more than the selected pressure, so if you feel it's overinflated, press the end nicely to the tyre (you’ll notice a buzz or noise if the air is escaping) and wait for three beeps.
Is it easier to just do it on your drive. It's noisey but convenient
That's why I don't do it at home anymore as those noisy 5 minutes feel like forever 😂😂
Do you put the coin after or before you set the pressure?
Before, just to save time, however, it can be done either way.
Thank you!
That's awesome! I'm thrilled to hear that the video was helpful, and now you're feeling confident about filling the air in your car tyres! Way to go❤️❤️
Thanks buddy🎉
Anytime friend❤️
What if the psi is higher for back tyres
The manufacturer’s Recommended pressure is normally on the side of the car’s front door, which guides you according to the number of passengers and front and back difference as well.
How do you know which tyre needs air?
If you want to make sure your car's tyres are in good shape, you can use a tyre pressure measuring kit to check the pressure of each tyre individually. But don't worry, most people just fill all the tyres up to the recommended pressure to keep them evenly balanced. Let me know if you have any questions.
Very helpful
Glad you think so!
People lay for air?
Yes, they do. Is it free at your place?
Or you can buy a compressor and do it at home. To this day I still do not get why people pay to and queue to put air in their tyres
Go at evenings no one will be there
It's convenient I believe. I have done it at home as well however it's too noisy, hence I don't do it anymore 😂
That's right, evenings are quiet.
I love my Bosch battery air pump for at-home top-ups. Maybe not enough oomph for filling big off-road tyres but great for a compact car and I use it all the time for bikes.
If you're really keen for some exercise you could get an old-school foot pump too. 😁
Mam can you please upload a video how to remove air from tyres please
You can remove excess air at the filling station only. Also, it fills whatever pressure is selected, removing overfilled air from the tyre if it has any. I might do a video, too👍
@@Quilwil So you just do what you did in the video and it will remove air automatically?
That’s right
😂
Who knew filling up car tyres could be such a thrilling experience😄😄
This is super helpful, thank you!
You're so welcome!
