My Marriage is in DANGER! Thermal danger that is... My partner prefers to be warmer than I do and summer is coming in quickly, so we need to SAVE MY MARRIAGE with 3D Printing! In this video we will discuss the hvac issue I have in my marriage, design a fix in AutoDesk Fusion 360, 3d print a repair part to solve our problem, and install the 3d print to see if it worked! Follow the journey as I design a 3d printed part to move us toward marital bliss.

Who else thought he lost he’s wedding ring and was gonna 3d print a new one😂
Fun fact: I once 3d printed a spacer to make Ruby’s engagement ring fit better before we got it resized. 😅😅
@@MandicReally I love that haha
@@MandicReallyI love fun facts!
Yes Please! Any future Fusion\CAD stuff you can share will be greatly appreciated, especially functional stuff like this , with basic shapes and basic skills - I liked how you called out the Line and construction toggle tool etc and no-fluff or hardcore engineering mode, teach us a little bit, let us play and learn from the core tips you gave! Bonus points for saving your marriage!!
The natural colour definitely fits the room's paint really well. Looks good!
This should be the video people watch to learn about how 3D printing can help fix everyday problems :)
The natural really was the perfect color choice. Thank you!
Fixed up ridiculously expensive replacement for fancy pants non standard shower rollers. Would have cost me over $300 CDN plus a 6+ weeks of no shower door. Took me 20mins to design, 7 mins to print less than 10 cents in material cost…….x2 over 6 years of being in this house.
Love to hear 3d printing fixing things like this. Rad!
Good solution, i was concerned you were going to advertise the $2500 plus monthly subscription matress cover.
Haha, we’ve commented how we could REALLY use one of those, but the price is just too much. I have to feel good about the sponsors I work with and a product that expensive PLUS a subscription? Nah.
Fantastic video, as usual!
Much appreciated sir!
Love these practical-use projects. If you get around to a vNext version, you should consider a TPU gasket so that you don't get air leaking out.
Yea, I have been using TPU gaskets on a lot of fan mounting setups. I was really tempted to put a flat flange on the top of the setup to use some foam sealing tape to seal it to the vent tube. If we were going to live here forever I probably would have, but we are moving relatively soon actually.
I love that Ruby refused to take any part in your dramatization causing you to play both parts lol.
Which in the end made it so much better than if she had...
Nice job with the fusion! Im working on learning myself how to do a lot more on there. Its so useful for real world solutions like this when combined with a 3D printer!
A man of class and distinction i see.. That's a mighty fine LTT screwdriver you have there ;)
360 tutorials from you sounds great
Another useful print idea I never would have thought about! Awesome video, and tutorials would be great. 😎
I'm happy to see your happy that you got it done and did a very good job!!!
Yes please! Definitely up for some more fusion 360 videos!
I'm also adhd here: my ac unit is directly over the return for my house. On the AC unit, I used sharpy to write "date last changed". In a box next to it, I put the date of last change woth dry erase marker. Some how, this keeps me from going 3+ months on a system that needs monthly changes. When I get curious, just open the door and instantly know when the next change is due.
Would love to see you do a Fusion 360. You are easy to understand and watch, so it definitely would help people get into Fusion.
Good job! I would like to see a video of designing the vent in fusion 360.
Fusion tutorials would be amazing!!
Very cool. We love a good practical print.
Fusion 360 is a lot of fun. There's a ton of options to dive into, but even just knowing a couple of them can let you design some surprisingly complex shapes.
For those wondering how he did the round to square join in Fusion 360, it's a simple loft between two sketches.
Yes that is how it was done. Wanted to say that but I have to streamline CAD sections sometimes unfortunately.
Yes, more Fusion 360 design vids please!
Loved this video! Your expert advice assistant was a real confidence booster speaking to the validity of your design. Does he charge much for his services? Hopefully he¡s affordable enough to be featured in more of your videos.
Awesome solution to a common problem. Could easily be remixed to suit air deflection needs elsewhere in the house too, I guess? 😁👍
I like the fusion 360 segment, I am trying to get better at it myself and while I understand that expanding too much on it can drag a video down I feel like you missed an opportunity to just play the timeline out.
Also I didn't know construction lines existed, I've been using regular lines and just dealing with it so that is definitely going to help.
I would be up for some fusion 360 tutorials. Also love the madness t shirt, I’m a big fan, seen them so many times!
This was really cool. I really need to learn Fusion so if you did create tutorials I would love to do them.
these are my favorite kind of projects to do, the ones where you're just like "I could throw money at that and scour amazon, or I can just get the idea out of my head into the real world and fix the problem"
In depth tutorials would be great!
I literally made this( obviously a different one for my situation) to redirect a vent under my desk out into the room like 3 days ago
Timing! That sounds like a great application. So often vents fall where we don't really want them and we just have to make do. Cool.
Nice solution for the problem :D
1 question: How do you deal with the toxic fumes on the ASA/ABS printing ?
Charcoal air filtration systems inside of printer chambers that recirculate the chamber air. They both help to stabilize chamber temperature as well as filtering the nasty chemicals. For my Voron 2.4 I use the "Nevermore" (you can see it under the front edge of the bed in the timelapse).
Now you just need to fit a really long "Jewel Cooler" to it for optimum cooling.
Great video. Keep up the good work.
Future upgrades? HA
I think you mean a Joule-Thompson cooler?
I have been using Fusion for a while but how you guys (pretty much all guides I have seen) have the sketch lines are black and nice instead of light-blue?
You definitely married up with Ruby 😂😂 do what you can to keep her!!
That's the plan! Hahaha
I had to do that too but I cut a triangular piece of cardboard and taped it into the vent. With the Coanda Effect there were probably other ways for me to do that. I do like the clean look of the new vent, but my way I painted a clown on the cardboard for extra spookiness. 😂😂😂
Fusion tutorials? Yes please.
More tutorials please!!
I will love fusion 360 videos
Make a more in depth video of the fusion 360 design please
Philly gang🔥🔥
that's precious
In 3D CADD software, it's more common to use the origin of the of the sketch plane as the center of the part, as opposed to one of the corners of the part. This typically helps aid assembly modeling. However, the way Fusion360 does assemblies is rather poor, in comparison to Solidworks or Inventor. All of that being said, you hit the use of construction lines spot on!
Yes for Fusion 360 tutorials. I threw a fit and went to Blender. I feel like Fusion 360 was not very user intutive.
See I feel like Blender is black magic and highly unintuitive. But I come from a fabrication background, so thinking in sketches was second nature to me as that's how I've designed parts for decades.
"Frigid" in English slang was an amusing choice of words :D
BY THE WAY! Have you considered doing a series of modding old printers? Lots of new hobbyists go the used printer route in order to not invest as much up front, leading to a lot of modding instead of buying new printers. Ender-3 V1, CR-10 V1, original i3's etc.
I've personally spent more than a P1S in upgrades to my CR-10 and Solidoodle 3. 😂😂😂
I converted an over 10 year old MakerBot Replicator to Core-XY with modern hardware and electronics. The video did really poorly after hundreds of hours into designing and building it.
I get what you are asking, but sadly it just doesn't make sense as a business decision. It was an intention I had at one point but it just hasn't proven to be a path forward for my business sadly.
@@MandicReally That sucks, I guess most people are only interested in the newest flavour in terms of looking for content, then.
I'll check that video out, at least. 😅
My Solidoodle 3 is going through an extensive revamp to CoreXY and triple belted Z. Maybe the CoreXY part of your video would help me with some choices along the way. 🤪
I would love fusion360 instructions
My mind took me in another direction... I was going to say just go to an adult toy store as 3d prints really aren't suitable for that.😂 Also, apparently Ruby is the name you have given your stuffed Sloth!? Really Mandic!
You could always paste the Fusion tutorial in a separate video. How did you make a transition between circle and square that or on the same plane?
Problem is that Fusion tutorials would likely underperform compared to my main videos. Then TH-cam gets confused about what videos to show to people, potentially harming the entire channel. It makes more sense to put those types of things on my second channel, Mandic Labs. I'll likely do tutorials there at some point: th-cam.com/channels/ViRyNkR_B198VyJ6ECDvGQ.htmlvideos
@@MandicReally Nothing is stopping you from pushing those tuts on second channel and linking within the main video.
@@MandicReally BTW if you could give me a short answer on the second part of the question that would be really great. I only used loft feature based on features on different planes.
@@Hajtosekoops, sorry I meant to answer that part. I used the Loft tool. I made the bottom flange and the top flange as separate pieces. Then I moved them apart as I wanted them. Created a sketch off the face of each, then I used those sketches to Loft between the two. I had to then do the same for each of the individual air passages to cut the internal structure out of the main loft body. It took a little trial and error to achieve what I was aiming for but it worked.
i like that 360 tutorial
i like this project
woot
Not just you. My wife will be under blankets and I'll be sans clothing where and when possible. If only 3D printing could solve this issue but it is a basic issue no matter where we are.
Yea I was sure a lot of folks could relate to this issue.
One vote for cad tutorials
15:37 "3D printing saved our marriage" ... And now he's sleeping with his dog 🐶😋
Why not just use zwave vent?
1:20 Brought to u by linus media group 😂
Nice use of 3d printing love your vidoes i made a review of bambu a1 mini
:)
Why didn’t he just put the vent back up with it pushing the air the other way? Just had to turn the vent and put it back up.
Did you look at the vent? It angles 4 directions. You can turn it all you like, it’s still gonna blow every direction.
Change bed positions... ?
Vent blew across the entire bed. It just bothered her not me. She’d have had the same issue on either side of the bed.
Is that a LTT screwdriver? Flex.
It sure is, I love that thing and use it around the house all the time.
@06:55 -2-Point Rectangle- / -3-Point Rectangle- / *_Center Rectangle_* - Just saying 😏
we have 5 furry roommates along with the 4 human ones, so we change our furnace filter MONTHLY!
Furries are humans too. 😂
Imagine just switching sides
Could you both not have just switched bed sides? Lol
Once you pick a side, that's your side for life
If you watch the video, there's a vent on the other side of the bed that would have the same problem.
Ruby has a shoulder that acts up depending which way she sleeps. It just works out that the sides of the bed we’ve chosen are best for us. And the vent still blew on my side before too. So either way she would have been in the airflow path.
@@therick0996😅 such a true statement
@therick0996 are we still referring to beds? 😉
I guess the vent on her side of the bed, in the installed clip, is not a factor?
That one is sealed and not blowing. They are the only two vents in our bedroom. It was even worse before I used the vent’s shutoff and closed that side one.
@@MandicReally ah gotcha
Bro is already breaking the law of physics by having both a 3d printer and a marriage partner
20+ 3D printers and Married... Idk how I got here either.
Teach some fusion classes
0:44 damn, you are lucky to have such a pretty wife
Every 3 months for air filters sir!!! They get nasty quick!
Good thing we moving out in less than 3 months, HA. Next place!
@@MandicReally it’s the little annoying tasks that no one teaches you about home ownership! My car is perfectly maintained but I always forget about the house stuff.
She could have just put more cats on lol
This must be a man thing. I'm the exact same. I run 2x as warm as my wife. I'm roasting and she's shivering lol
We just sleep in seperate rooms, problem solved
Note: To further save your marriage, never refer to your wife as "frigid". ;)
Hahahaha. She approved the intro and almost fell to the floor laughing at it when I first showed her, so I think I'm good. Thanks for looking out though.
so instead of changing where u sleep in bed which will take one min u spent hours so change where the air is going ;-;
The vent blew across the entire bed. It still blew on me before, so her switching sides wouldn't fix the issue. Also she has a shoulder that gets irritated depending on how she sleeps, so she prefers that side of the bed. Last, have you lived with many partners? Folks generally pick their side of the bed and stick with it, FOR LIFE.
All you had to do was exchange sides ?
The vent blew across the entire bed. It blew on me also, so she'd still be getting blown on if we switched sides.
Could have just swapped sides.
Sooo are you going to switch sides in Winter so you wont be hot and she wont be cold
I said, we have radiator heaters not forced air. That vent is ONLY AC or Fan air.
Seems like a magnetic vent deflector would have been more efficient?
Would it have been as fun? Definitely more material efficient but I wanted to heavily guide the air the direction I wanted, so internal air guides were the way. Final product is cleaner from the view of the room.
An abyss goes down … not up towards your ceiling. Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.
How many tattoos do you want
Him. Yes
why not just move to that side?
Air blew across the entire bed. It just only bothered her. So if she was on either side of the bed it would be an issue. My choice of words didn’t make this apparent I now realize.
Just turn the whole thing so the venting closes the other way. Just a screw driver neede and about 5 min.
Are we looking at the same vent? It guides air in 360 degrees, there is no turning it to point another way. The outlet vent fins are fixed. The shut-off inside just stops air flow entirely, it has no control over direction of the air path.
Y’all need 8 sleep. It can have 2 different temps for each side of the bed
what a thubnail
see a doctor
It is entirely common for people to experience temperatures differently. I have a high metabolism and just generally run warm when I sleep. That's not a medical issue, its just life.
Americans and their over dramatizations :D
Just go to Home Depot and get the right type of vent.
But making TH-cam videos about making things is my job. I could spend an hour round tripping to Home Depot or have way more fun making a silly TH-cam video showing how 3d printers can do more than just make toys. Not to mention I made a custom design that suited my exact wants and needs for this space. No off the shelf product would do that as thoroughly.
