I think this vase is very much the shape of an Ancient Greek vase. I personally think it shows off best with a light in it. I appreciate your process, and all of your skill and technique. Thank you!
Don’t listen to other ppl telling you to do things how they do, everyone has an opinion, the only opinion u should care about is you! Your pieces r amazing and I hope to order a tshirt very soon
I think that "weird alien jellyfish mushroom" is about as good a description as you are going to get! I do like the designer epoxy being used in 3 different ways in the piece, I think that is interesting. Cool shape, definitely unique.
This is so unique. I love the chunks you added and enjoy when you “recycle” items from your previous turns. I also liked seeing how you made the lip on the vase. Designer Epoxy.
Definitely a unique piece. I think my favorite part is the resin "rocks" they almost look like gemstones. As always designer epoxy knocks it out of the park - love the hyper shift product!
That pink color is EVERYTHING! I mean, pink is my favorite color, so I'm biased, but this is the prettiest shade of pink! It looks exactly like my favorite nail polish, which has the same kind of hypershift. It also looks like the highest grade of rose quartz! I would love to see that color and texture in a project with something like burl or spalted maple...that would be incredible! Keep up the wonderful work! Designer Epoxy
Breaking stone or glass - use a 3"-4" dia capped metal pipe about a foot long as "container". Make a 2" dia capped (both ends) "ram". Place material in the container and use the ram. Can use hammer on the ram when needed. I have a second ram which flatten which help to much finer crushed stone/glass which I use to fill in cracks. The cap of the container can be removed when needed to get material left in the container. (I also have smaller dia set for crushing small stones - I use this more often)
Gonna admit that I had my doubts going in to this video... but I really should know by now 'TRUST IN JIM!' You never let us down 👍 And you certainly won me over by the end. As always, have a great weekend buddy!
I really do like this. It looks very organic and flowing, and it reminds me of a sea sponge, and yes, could be a jellyfish, too. A departure from the bowls and lidded vases, and it's successful! I'd like to see you take on more challenging organic, flowing, sculptural art pieces. And using the translucency of epoxy, these pieces could be really engaging, turning chemistry into nature and blending them into something artistic! Beautiful work Mr Sprague.
Cotton Candy / Candy Floss Mushroom / Jellyfish Vase! And the broken resin pieces look like hard candy or ribbon candy. 🙂 I don't particularly like this vase, but I do love watching you come up with these ideas! Some end up great, some not so much, but they're interesting and worth doing (and watching).
Jim, have to say this one didn’t float my boat. I still appreciate your work and creativity that you bring to your work. Always look forward to the next project. 👍💕
Definitely one of a kind. I like the shape but not the color.. My reaction when you applied the epoxy was 'Wow'. There's something about the colors after the finish has gone on that really changes it. Overall, i love watching and next weekend I'm taking my first woodturning class. I've been making jewelry from clay and beads for 8 years now and i guess its on to my next adventure. Thank you. ❤ Designer Epoxy
The thumbnail picture of this Jellyfish Vase is just FABULOUS!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE the colours you chose. Waiting for the video to start as a pot of coffee brews. Fresh snowfall in Newfoundland this morning makes a serene view out my front window. This video making it the perfect start to my day!!!! THANKS JIM!!!!!! Cindy Ings NL, Canada
I love the Jellyfish vase! The colors are amazing. My first thought was that it has a Grecian urn vibe. Cool. Very different from what you usually turn. Great job Jim! ❤️
Jim, I love this piece when I saw you. Putting all those colors in I thought. Oh, my goodness, I think the only one I really don't care for is that lime green and you can always turn that to the back. It is beautiful
The vase is gorgeous! It also reminds me of stained glass or blown glass! It would be gorgeous to set the vase on a pedestal with a light inside the vase. The light would show all the colors from the inside out. Great job with the vase!
I actually really like this one, Jim, and I admit I wasn't sure partway through HAHA A thought for a future project might be to make the folded down rim much longer, which might give it a look a bit like an abstract flower!
LOVE the description, it fits!!!! Extremely cool piece!! I agree, not a pink person either, but it works for this..... Honestly, my favorite part is always "Jim vs the mold". 😂😂😂 Not a turner, but its fascinating to watch, a chunk something turn into a creative beauty.
I love watching the vacuum chamber. The poor bucket 😂. The piece reminds me of a mix between a tulip and a cala lily, it's really cool and very creative. Such a unique piece. It's weird, which is why I like it, lol. Designer Epoxy
I’m really like the shape, especially the mushroom top. I don’t like the multiple colours as much. I think all pink or all one colour would have made it stunning!!!!
I just love it! Saw that thumbnail and I clicked SO fast! _Fantastic_ colours & form. Cheers! And wow, your channel is growing fast! Keep up the great work!
You managed to make the most convincing faux rose quartz I have ever seen and quite frankly that is freaking awesome I'm not really a pink person either but if this piece ain't just absolutely gorgeous..
I bet you could make some really pretty lamp shades and bases that match. Love that the resin shavings look so soft . Watching wood turning in memory of my Mama . She loved watching in her last years, 80+ .
Reminds me of a remote Chinese mountainscape with cherry blossoms everywhere, replete with jade like fog . Gorgeous. Conceptually, of course. I love it.
When I saw the thumbnail I really didn't think I would like this one, but I am very pleasantly surprised and happy to say I do like it! I especially like the hyper shift. Brilliant! 😀
Watching you from a very 🌞 Western Australia. 38oC so I’m watching from the pool. I love the unique shape and use of odds and ends. It wouldn’t be out of place in a modern gallery 😊
I don't know why I bother judging the thumbnails as it always looks so much more vibrant and amazing when I actually watch the videos - this one made me laugh at so many stages; the colours, the shapes (your persistence in the face of many a frustration...) was just so playful and fun.
I have to say this is my favorite vase shape. The resin looks like cotton candy. The clear hypershift with black walnut and walnut shells would be spectacular. Designer epoxy
I love your videos cuz you explain most of it and you show most of what you're doing most of the people that do these kind of videos just speed through it and I don't like that so thank you for making them long I love them long to know everything that you're doing
WOW --HAD NO IDEA THAT YOUR PROBLEMS WERE THIS HARD BUT YOUR EXPERANCE DOING THIS IS AMAZING --NO ONE CAN TELL AN ARTIS HOW TO MAKE THE PRODUCT YOOU WANT SO FAR THEY ARE BUTIFULL ==THAT JELLY FISH ITEM TRUNED OUT SO PRETTY --GREAT WOOK JIM🥰🥰🥰
The pink is gorgeous! One of the things that came to mind as I watched this, is that this is very much an exercise in patience. The odd occasion you show it in real time is important, especially to anyone just starting out. You absolutely cannot rush this process. I’ve never been good with projects that take a long time to finish, as patience is NOT one of my virtues! This one has fairy vibes to me. The colors, the shape, very fantasyish. Thanks again for a wonderful Saturday morning!
A gorgeous jellyfish!!! The colour choiche is fantastic, those pieces of shredded resin are perfect in the blend... I will search your channel for more pieces like this one. Oh, the hypershift!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is absotively, posilutely my favorite of all your pieces! I adore the fun shape, the contrast of the wood with the resin, and yes, pink is my favorite color 😊 And the hypershift *chef's kiss*
I clicked on the video without looking at its length 😂watched about halfway through before I realised something was off. I'm used to woodturning videos being 20-30 minutes. But wow! I love the finished product, especially the top part. I think I might steal my grandather's lathe for a bit and try to replicate this effect in my resin dice! Well, maybe without the wood bits.
For the towel, you could try burlap. It's a pretty tough fabric. Or denim. Something heavy that the resin isn't going to go straight through. I love fun pieces like this.
I'm always amazed by the stuff you make! I am also amazed that people can see how skilled you are and how many epoxy pieces youve made and will still armchair critique you on something theres no chance they're better or have more experience at it than you Edit: the spitoon thing is for sure from movies where it wasn't actually being used for its intended purpose, it's a bucket to spit in, why would saloon owners spend money to make it a fancy bucket, its like the holy grail if it was found it'd just be a plain old cup because back then thats what it was, it only been seen as important in the years after the event
I realized I forgot to comment on this video! I can’t believe that it hasn’t sold yet as I absolutely love it!! If it still hasn’t sold by next week, maybe make it a second prize? ♥️♥️♥️ Designer Epoxy
Magnificent!!! Consider yourself a top artist. Yes Jellyfish is perfect name. Part of being an artist is having ideas you don't know how it will work and taking a chance anyway. Also working with colors you won't usually work with expands your horizions. Keep up the great work and don't let those who grumble get you mad.
This project reminded me of experimenting with mud and sticks as a kid. You are just having fun and you know you're going to get yield when you go home..
It is very colourful & unique! Very clever making this vase out of recycled past lathe projects. I love the the sparkly-ness of this (love love love hyper-shift)! I would use it to hold my Venus Fly Trap plant because it needs something unique to put in this unique plant pot... And it looks like you made it out of cotton candy (Cotton Candy swirling clouds). Another very cool project Jim!
If you did something like this with a metal inlay like the spotted bowl. It would be up my ally and a half. When I was little my mother took me to the ocean and I was seeing jelly fish on the beach. Since I'm also from Ontario, I hadn't seen anything with testicles. I emphatically yelled down the beach at my grandma after being warned not to step on them "Gamma don't step on the testicles!". I still say this to my Grandma to this day when she travels to coastal places.
Found your channel by chance. I'm a fiber artist and have done some rudimentary work ceramic work. I love these videos. I actually watch them while I crochet. I've learned a lot about a fabulous artform! I really appreciate the way you break it down so that even people not in the craft can follow. Look forward to watching more!
I’m glad you were able to rescue your bucket.I hope we will see the bucket in many more videos. Thanks for the bonus vacuum chamber footage. Haha This is a beautiful cotton-candy-stuffed-with-candy-mushroom-on-ice, but I can see the jellyfish as well. Generally, I don’t like pink neither, but this is cotton candy. I could imagine this will be an eye candy for kids. I love your ideas.
Your work is truly beautiful. I love watching your videos at night. I find it really relaxing and for some reason watching you shave things down on the lathe is really satisfying. I absolutely love that you use the things most people would throw away like shavings and leftover resin in your art pieces. Great way to reduce waste and get the most out of the money you spend on supplies.
So cool! I love the colors Pink and Purple so this is something I would buy. Its so Beautiful and Unique. I wish I could afford to buy it but Im on disability so unfortunately Im unable to. I was thinking Mushroom instead of Jellyfish but it could be both. Designer Epoxy ❤
You make the coolest stuff with Designer Epoxy, not gonna lie! It's cute and quirky and absolutely makes me think jellyfish! Love it! I can see you making another one like this with blues and greens and hypershift!
Your projects are beautiful with and without spacers. And tell people that are complaining that if they have a problem with it then they can buy your supplies 😊
The top looks like a lifesaver ring. SO this piece could be a LIFE SAVER! It is really an interesting piece, not my style, but it is nicely done and will find a home with a jellyfish fan! I love the look of the chips! and the way it sparkles with the hypershift!
Another relatable comparison is sort of like a pitcher plant, which would be a neat project too. Looking great as always, which also always feels like an understatement to say; your pieces truly have a knack for being unique, identifiable, and a reflection of your style and process. Thank you for sharing, Jim.
Thanks for your transparency Jim. I used to be a manager at Pizza-Pizza in Pet back in 2000 and then had my own store to manage in Renfrew. i thank-you for your service. I love watching your channel when I have the time to do so. Happy `24 to you and yours. Keep going Bro. I`ll keep watching you spin your beautiful creations.
I was given the wrong information from Designer Epoxy, the sale is only from 12 to 15 Jan. Sorry for the confusion.
I think this is the most beautiful piece 🥹❤
So, you got a resin nazi?? OMG...you're a grown man with a very informative webpage. You GO, GUY! Just tell the resin nazi, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!"
This is a beautiful piece and so colorful! I just love it!!
Maybe there is too much air in the shavings you put in? Caused holes?

That shredded resin looks incredible, like quartz.

Please make more jellyfish, this is a unique and ethereal blend of ideas. Such a relaxing pleasure to watch too.

Yes, it’s the everything vase! 😂
I think of cotton candy when looking at it. The jellyfish I know are not this color at all.
Lion's Mane in SE Alaska. Thinking maybe you have a pink puffer fish or something if you like the ocean vibe.
This is so unique. I love the chunks you added and enjoy when you “recycle” items from your previous turns. I also liked seeing how you made the lip on the vase. Designer Epoxy.
Thank you! Cheers!
Very whimsical and funky! Well done Jim
Thank you very much!
Some days you are the bucket, some days the mallet... Beautiful work Jim!
Thank you kindly

I love the Jellyfish vase! The colors are amazing. My first thought was that it has a Grecian urn vibe. Cool. Very different from what you usually turn. Great job Jim! ❤️
Grecian urn look is true.

Awesome 👍 so colorful I would love to have one! It would be cool to actually try making one with candy in it!❤
It wouldn’t survive the turning process. Thanks
I actually really like this one, Jim, and I admit I wasn't sure partway through HAHA A thought for a future project might be to make the folded down rim much longer, which might give it a look a bit like an abstract flower!
It can be done, but it’s pretty tough to cut up under that rim. Thanks

Never worry about the length of the videos you produce. I have watched videos of nearly 8 hours length. The more the better. And I adore your videos.
Awesome, thank you!
Love ❤ your videos! Not too long! Great that you recycle your shavings! Love the colors! It's beautiful! Love your work!

It would never be a Sprague Woodturning video without a struggle! 😂 😆 😝 ❤
So true!
RIP Mr. Bucket. You were a friend until the end. 😂😂😂
🤣 it sure was! Ha ha!
I just love this piece! Wish I had the $ to buy it! The pink is so soft looking - like cotton candy. Way to go, Jim! Gold star! ⭐
Thanks so much!
I think this is one of the most interesting hollow form you have made so far.
Agreed, thanks!
A gorgeous jellyfish!!! The colour choiche is fantastic, those pieces of shredded resin are perfect in the blend... I will search your channel for more pieces like this one. Oh, the hypershift!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The amount of talent this man has is scary 😮 Well done sir 👏
Wow! Thanks again!
It reminds me of a bowl of cotton candy. Just beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely beautiful.. my mother's ashes are buried in Newfoundland . I'm in Texas and love watching.. ❤
Thanks for that! How does a Newfie end up in Texas, lol.
@SpragueWoodturning I was born here. My mother's side is from Newfoundland though..
I clicked on the video without looking at its length 😂watched about halfway through before I realised something was off. I'm used to woodturning videos being 20-30 minutes.

Would have scalloped the edge on that. Definitely has Florida vibes, colorful pastels very pretty
Thanks
Me it looks like a Christmas piece like Santa is dropping gifts off everywhere through the Christmas night. It’s a beautiful piece.
Thanks so much!
You have my mum raving over this one. She just wished we could afford some of these pieces!
Designer epoxy for the win!
Awesome Thank you very much!
Who would spit into anything so beautiful! 🥰
Thanks!
For the towel, you could try burlap. It's a pretty tough fabric. Or denim. Something heavy that the resin isn't going to go straight through. I love fun pieces like this.
Thanks for the suggestion!
How about sandwiching the resin pieces between two pieces of wood instead of a towel and then hitting the top piece of wood with the hammer?
I would buy this in an instant. It's beautiful.
Thanks so much! It is still for sale.
I'm always amazed by the stuff you make!
I am also amazed that people can see how skilled you are and how many epoxy pieces youve made and will still armchair critique you on something theres no chance they're better or have more experience at it than you
Edit: the spitoon thing is for sure from movies where it wasn't actually being used for its intended purpose, it's a bucket to spit in, why would saloon owners spend money to make it a fancy bucket, its like the holy grail if it was found it'd just be a plain old cup because back then thats what it was, it only been seen as important in the years after the event

Wow, that’s a lot of out of pocket for me. Thanks
I enjoy when you recycle waste products from previous projects and make something new. This one is definitely whimsical.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous! Would buy it in a second!
Wow, thank you!
my favorite color is pink and I absolutely love this piece! the mushroom shape is really cute
I'm glad you like the piece! It was fun to make.
It reminds me of a beautiful jar containing candy and cotton candy.
So colorful!
It does! It’s still for sale too, lol. Thanks

Thank you very much!
Your projects are beautiful with and without spacers. And tell people that are complaining that if they have a problem with it then they can buy your supplies 😊
Thank you very much!
Very unique piece and another awesome project...Thank you!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I think is my wife's favorite piece that you've done. But then again, she's a bit different too. Designer epoxy.
Lol. Thanks.
I have been convinced it's a jellyfish. Beautiful job.
Thank you! 😊
The top looks like a lifesaver ring. SO this piece could be a LIFE SAVER! It is really an interesting piece, not my style, but it is nicely done and will find a home with a jellyfish fan! I love the look of the chips! and the way it sparkles with the hypershift!
Thanks so much!
Another relatable comparison is sort of like a pitcher plant, which would be a neat project too.
Looking great as always, which also always feels like an understatement to say; your pieces truly have a knack for being unique, identifiable, and a reflection of your style and process.
Thank you for sharing, Jim.
Thank you very much!
Jellyfish vibes for sure, and with it being very pink, perfect for Valentine's Day. Jim, either way, is very, very unique 👍👍
Thanks so much!
I find it not only very interesting to watch your work, but also extremely relaxing, thanks for sharing your awe3some talent!!!
Thank you so much!
Lol, it looks like a pink life preserver, but it could be a jellyfish. Interesting piece for sure! Thanks Jim!
I think so too! Thanks so much!
Thank you very much! Same too you!
I like the jellyfish ❤
