Jim I'm a 77 year old lady, I know nothing about wood turning and all that you do. But since I found your channel I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. This is my favorite thing you have done, but I seem to say that every time I watch you. This is truly a work of art, just amazing. Thank you for sharing your beautiful craft with us.
If I ever get retired from driving trucks all week ,I will start to put a turning shop in the back yard shed . I absolutely love the piece,a work of art for sure.thanx for the stress relief.
I love all your projects. Thank you for the hard work you do making the videos. I am going thru all the videos. They help with all the stress me and my family are going thru. You are an inspiration to us, and we all want to thank you for all you do putting out these videos. Best wishes to you and your family. Absolutely stunning work.
OMG, Jim!! Sometimes you create a piece as art, just for arts sake! This is that piece! Its magnificent!!! You outdid yourself with this! Its art museum quality, for sure! Thank you!❤
Hello Jim, I agree with previous comments: the mystery burl, the copper resin and the hyper shift all combine so well and made this an outstanding piece. I always appreciate your talent as well as your comments during the process. Take good care, Sir. Dan
I am usually not a fan of hollow forms but this one speaks to me and I love it. I didn't realize that I needed someone to tell me that a hollow form is to be appreciated the same way that you would appreciate a painting on the wall or a sculpture. This truly is a work of art and your admiration is its purpose.
That is beautiful. As an artist, (painter) I can appreciate art for art's sake. Your piece doesn't have to do anything other than inspire us with its beauty.
The resin color is outstanding. A very fine work of art sir, stunning. Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for sharing your hard work with us.🌿 👍👍👍👍👍
Announcing the latest in the line of hoped-for Sprague T-Shirts! "Thicker Bottoms Are More Stable on the Table!" Words of wisdom. I could almost hear the gasps when Jim first applied the denatured alcohol to the hollowform and the resin colors came alive. Such a beautiful piece, and I think ALL of your pieces are works of ART! Thank you, Jim!
Wow! She is a thing of beauty that anyone would be lucky to own. 😍😍I find it so satisfying to watch these videos. Reminds me of turning wood with my Grandfather in my youth. I still have things that he helped me to make as well as his own creations. Seriously if the lighting is not doing that thing justice then it must be a truly outstanding piece! Thank you for sharing it with us 😄
The coloring is gorgeous! My late hubby left a whole workshop full of machinery and wood! I am almost ready to try the lathe! My brother does woodturning and he said the difference between art and crafts is; a bowl that doesn't hold water is an object d' art and a craft piece holds water!
Love the copper with the hypershift, it's a stunning piece. Really liked that you went with the gold on the thermal cracks. Just think that it adds so much more interest in the piece. Beautifully designed.
Wow! This week, you really hit on a absolutely stunning combination of colors and materials. Between the mystery burl, the copper resin and the hypershift flakes, it just all came together in the best possible way! I can't wait to see what you create next week!
WOW! That hollow form is absolutely stunning. The copper and hypershift is amazing. Great choice of colors. As always, thanks for sharing Jim. Take care.
Oh wow, these colours are unbelievable! This piece looks truly cosmic, Sir! And I would love to see more pictures of it on Instagram, honestly, it deserves a serious photoshoot!
Every week I think WOW what a beauty & then you surprise us all with another amazing piece. Your attention to detail & explanations are dead on. Not only an artist, but a teacher as well. Once again congratulations on 100,000 subs. Well earned and deserved!
Jim, I have watched a tremendous amount of your videos and have enjoyed and learned something from each and every one. In my opinion, this is simply the finest piece that I have watched you create. Absolutely gorgeous! The copper with the color shift adds so much to this piece. Love it. When you were showing it off after the first coat of Waterlox, I was yelling at the TV saying , "Don't bump the headstock!" My wife laughed and just shook her head. Congrats again on 100,000 subscribers!
This piece is absolutely stunning! Looking at some of your other pieces, gives me some wonderful ideas for making my afghans and quilts. You are a master of your craft.
Wow, just wow! I love how the resin and the colors do what they do. It is always fun to see how a single color and some metallic add ins work together. Makes every piece unique from casting to casting. Great turning work as well. It is awesome to learn from you each week!
All your your decisions and materials used came together beautifully and uniquely on this piece. I imagine it’s hard sometimes to let go of such gorgeous creations! Designer Epoxy and the Waterlox Gloss finish are obviously great products, and I’m sure you make them proud with Uber-art like this hollow form. Keep up the fantastic work!
Wonderful piece. The colors absolutely make this vase standout. The copper and gold gives it a more contemporary /modern style. Every week you manage to bring something new.
I'm just setting out in my wood turning journey. It so nice to have someone giving tips and explaining things for us at my level rather than just for the hard core turners that can just spend a fortune on all the kits. Many thanks
That Hypershift is just fantastic. Love the Copper color. The Gold to fill the cracks blends in great. The buarls stand out nicely. The profile is great for the hollow form. Great job.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🥸😎
I just found your videos a few nights ago, and I can not stop watching them. In another life, I would do this for a living. Thank you for allowing me to live through you. Keep posting your videos, and don't change a thing!
I meant to reply sooner, but thanks for responding so fast. I aspire to become a woodturner just like you, and your videos are so instructional. Thank you. Keep turning beautiful pieces.@@SpragueWoodturning
I have a very demanding job and these last couple weeks have been very stressful. Don’t get me wrong. I love my job. It’s just very hard sometimes. The point of that is.: as soon as I turned this episode on, and saw the colors that were being used, I started smiling and I felt my stress just melt away. This is such a beautiful piece. The colors are perfect. The shape is perfect and there’s nothing else that needs to be said. Thank you for giving me a reason to smile at the end of a hard day.
Fabulous colours. I watch a lot of woodturners but you are my favourite because I love your explanations and commentary. The new owner is going to be stoked at such a beautiful piece of art.
I really appreciate fact that you don't overturn your pieces. I get so aggravated with the guys that will have a piece looking really nice and it's like he has turning fever and keeps going for another 5 to 10 minutes on the video.🤠👍🏼🇺🇲🇨🇦
Really beautiful. Great work. I know nothing about this type of art, but I just love this piece along with all the other pieces that I have watched you do. I was telling my husband how you make these pieces and showed him a few. We find your work amazing.
Your work totally amazes me. This piece you absolutely outdid yourself. Love watching the process you show each time. Have watched for some time and you never disappoint me. Thank you very much . Your beautiful work makes this old girl very happy 😊 😃 ❤🙏🇨🇦 .
Holy cow, Jim! This piece has so much character! The waterfalls of resin keep the eye moving and the hyper shift adds whole new dimensions of depth. You can almost see the patterns moving about. At a guess, I'd wager that is an oak variant or even sweet gum, but my money is on red or black oak just by the grain and formation. The touches of gold really balance it out, so I agree that cutting back the collar was a good choice. The profile is extremely pleasing with the taper towards the bottom. Truly a piece of artistic perfection ❤. I love your bowls, but I've come to the conclusion that the hollow forms are where you really let go and just have crazy fun with a project and it shows in the levels of creativity each of your hollow forms showcases. Keep being awesome 💫
Stunning piece you created. Look like it could have come out of the tomb of Pharoah Tut. I agree with you that it's one of your best pieces I watched you create. Keep on inspiring the turners of the world. I'm from South Africa
I love the form! And I really appreciate you walking through the process step by step, and throwing in tips and advice as you're turning. It's super helpful for us beginners.
Absolute stunner! The way the light dances on it makes it look like it’s alive. Have you ever considered showing the pieces in sunlight? Nicely done, once again!
Words do not give this stunning piece justice! Definitely #1. Going to be hard to top this one! The shape is perfect, the burl amazing, the copper and gold … I’m speechless! Goosebump worthy! ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Jim the burls were great and I loved the copper and then the white and yellow on the top. The hollow form is a great piece of art, you really have outdone yourself this time Jim, It is magnificent and unique. Thank you for a marvellous video, take care. Amanda xxxx
I don't think I've ever wanted to see something in person so badly before! What a stunning piece of art for the lucky new owner. I hope it gets to be somewhere that it is seen and admired frequently.
❤ Well, I have changed my mind and now this copper hollow form is my favorite! I am in love with this piece.❤ You truly are growing into a great artist, Jim. I love that you went with the pearl gold as it complimented the copper and wood, joining them in harmony. If your wife picked the pearl gold, kudos! I would say to you, keep up the good work, but your work is outstanding, unique and a cut above all others. The highlight to my week is watching Jim's video. I'm saving up my pennies so that one day I can own " A Sprague"! 😍
When you first started I thought it would be to dark but I was so wrong. This is such a gorgeous piece of art. The wood lends soft light points while the copper makes it glow. Thank you
Oh my.... GEEEWOWZA! Honestly speechless.... it's hands down my favorite from you, and that's saying A LOT. Love that copper/hypershift combo with that wood. Flawless, perfect, WOW 🤩. PLEASE do another like this Designer Epoxy
@SpragueWoodturning that makes me so happy!! Lol, I've watched this twice and have it in my queue to watch again! 😂 can't get enough of that... idk what to even call it, luxe earthy lusciousness? Haha 😄 🤣
Wow, oh wow. That hypershift is absolutely amazing! A stunning hollow form! I wanted to mention, when you were deciding on the fill color for the cracks I was sitting here rooting for gold - it’s a perfect choice!
The hypershift colors are spectacular. You couldn't ask for a better color for that hollow form, it's just amazing. It's a beautiful, beautiful piece!!
Total work of Art! All of your pieces are, regardless of function. The Hyper shift takes your work to a whole other level. I agree with reducing the gold rim to the thinner amount. It really fit well that way. What a beautiful piece.
I absolutely love the color combinations with the burls. They are stunning. I would love to see these same colors and burls made into a large platter, just to show off even more of the beauty you have created!
Absolutely stunning!!! I was so happy when you chose the gold for the cracks! That’s what I was hoping you would go for and it’s perfect!! Designer epoxy ♥️♥️♥️
I love hollow forms. They tend to follow the classic shapes that have the same appeal as do the forms displayed in ancient Greek , Roman, and Etruscan pottery. The eye appeal is magnificent in this piece. I love the colors as well. My favorite piece thus far. Well done!!

Yea. What she said.
I love this, absolutely beautiful
Agree with the last reply from Sharon. This hollow form is as if you have captured the entire season of Autumn!
I’m 82 started turning last year. To much fun. You don’t need to be super strong. Take a class. Find a club in your area.
People, like art pieces, don’t need to have a productive use to have value - a great point Jim!
True that! Thanks

Suggestion- pour a 1/2 inch at the bottom and let it set. then the pieces will not move. You will cut it away anyway.
