Yes, it does look weird without the funnels, but keep in mind it is still anime accurate because in the beginning of the movie Char’s Counterattack, the NU gundam was deployed a few times before the funnels even existed.
Well, to be honest I always felt that the fin funnels were an unnecessary addition, given the weird position of the funnels on only the left side, but I guess this is one reason anybody could buy it
The thing that gets about entry grade is the EYES. Nice, popping colors that are both look good and give the desired effect without stickers, clear plastic (which I find are dull just by themselves) or paint. The color separation is on par with Real Grade. Bandai really hit it out of the park with an affordable, solid and color accurate/part separated kit.
As a tip if you find clear eyes to not pop enough, paint the back of the eyes silver. Makes them stand out very nicely. This only works if the plastic is colored or if you’re painting the front of the eyes in a clear paint. Also works well for things like the MG Barbatos’ clear pink bits.
On par with RG? Not in a million years. Comparable to HG? Absolutely. I would say the face is better than RG's and nothing more. Solid for a EG cheap kit, that's it.
I didn't say it was on par as a kit. I said it was when it comes to color separation. And as for the lack of panel lines, it's not an RG, the goal isn't to reimagine the mobile suit as realistic and detailed as possible. To be honest, the EG looks more aesthetically accurate to the anime than even the RG with it's short face and small shoulders or MG with its hyper detailing.
I assume the plastic is intentionally more brittle than the usual PS since it has to snap out of the runners. You wouldn't want it to stretch and warp and stress up like crazy which I would assume regular PS does. Just my 2 cents
hey, i just built an entry grade and want to start with a real grade. are you saying i should buy special pincers for that? for the EG i used my hands to get the plastic out and a sharp scissor blade to cut off the excess remnants, which went rather well, so i figured i could do an HG without special tools as well
@@DaveGrean A lot of RGs have undergating on some of their parts. That alone requires good nippers unless you want to spend ages sanding down the nubs. The EG RX-78-2 is... meh. It's fine when you build it, but then the looseness of the joints begins to make itself known over time. The Entry Grade Strike Gundam is a major improvement overall. And I'm really looking forward to the EG Nu Gundam. That being said, I wouldn't ever dare to call the EG line superior to High Grades. They're ENTRY grade for a reason.
I agree with the EG RX-78 statement, mine was fine for a week until the left arm started to go really loose, then months later, its as flimsy as a real grade. I do hope the EG Nu is an overall improvement
What's your opinion on the EG Strike? Though I agree about the EG RX-78-2. It got too loose too quickly, even the RG isn't as loose and floppy as this thing.
I have both EG strike and RX78, the strike was more loose out of box for me compared to the grandaddy, but yeah both get loose easily if you pose them for quite a bit. Not as bad as early real grades since we can tighten up the joints easily but yeah they do get loose.
The name of the line is irrelevant. The kit is better proportioned and better designed than the HG, full stop. It’s a price point, not a definition of quality
Love how the EG Nu Gundam uses standard two holes backpack mount often seen on recent HGs which allows it to equip RX Origin, Wing, Strike Freedom, Gundam X, Gundam Aerial backpacks.
I went to Akihabara last weekend and could not find this anywhere! Only the OG kit was available/in stock. Hopefully this does not become a rare item to find. I love the look, like a Robot Tamashi ANIME line of figures.

My question is Why buy the EG when I can get the HG The HG has a good stability, poly caps, 6 functional fin funnels, all weaponry, and a pretty good amount of detail for a late 2000s kit The EG looks nice, sure, but I’m not sure if those lower leg joints will hold or if the knees will end up buckling because of the weight and instability of the EG frame over time
Because the old HGUC is very expensive. The price is something at early RG release price range.. You better off buy RG Mk-II or Exia with that price. At least the EG will make people want to get this without breaking their budget..
As the name Entry Grade suggests, it is an entry-level kit for beginners since you don't need tools like nippers, sandpaper, etc to build one. One of the reason Bandai made this lineup is to encourage people without much(or any?) knowledge about plastic models to try it.
@@lukmandanish96 i’m asking myself the question Why should i buy it when it serves no greater a package than the HG I get that it’s an entry level kit, but i see little reason for myself to buy it
I bought this thinking it was a high grade while on vacation without my building supplies. I was pleasantly surprised that it was one that didn't require nippers so I could build it immediately.
Been trying to find it anywhere in Europe for good price but it's impossible shipping is always double if not triple the cost of this EG Gundam (with JP and US it's even worse since you need to pay tax too), i'm ain't paying $25-40 for entry grade (got MG Eclipse for $68 and Hi-Nu 1/444 for $60), which is a shame i even asked few local shops and they can't import them for some reason i guess that's due shipping being overinflated due covid. EDIT: Japanplaza has it with shipping for $16 it's not that bad (with vat it will be $20)
@@casvalcat3546 Bandai only promotes Star Wars (Revell is licensor anyway) and their S.H. Figuarts/Standard Rise Figures there for some reason. With Gundams there are no market and almost no availability, shops must import them themselves from japan that's why prices of everything are much more expensive than in US or JP. It reminds me of neglect by Nintendo they also don't care about Europe.
I feel the pain. Hobby link doesn't allow SAL shipping currently to my country. Even for a sheet of decals you pay 20+ for shipping!? I put a small stack of preorders together and used FedEx shipping but as mentioned, VAT will be added... I'm considering canceling the rest of my pre orders because these shipping and VAT prices are nuts sigh...
Entry Grade is what I wish my middle-school self have…. Back then, I used to snap HG parts out of the runner, using hands, and sometimes use scissors. The result is not pretty, and I definitely broke some parts like the V fin doing that.
i built this myself, and i gotta say, it was fun and not as hard as i thought, infact, really easy to build, and it fits well with the RX78-2, either EG or HG, besides all that, i reccomend it for starters and collectors mhm👍
The same happened to me with the beam saber. My beam saber broke right in half while I was building it, and right when I was gluing it the same part as broke on you broke on me too, so to all beginners (like myself) be careful with the beam saber on this kit. I really wish I could afford a new one😢😂
i picked up my first gundam kit today was bored and tired and came across your channel so i went to my local mall and bought one it was fun but frustrating at the same time and it was hard not to rush but over all it was fun
9:56 also this beam saber is just for aesthetics. Because the Nu Gundam has 2 beam effects specifically for this particular beam saber that is not included with this kit. Both the HG and the HG HWS have those beam effects. Another reason as to why they are better than this.
Been waiting for this to release in my country so I get to pair something witg my hg sazabi Which is surprisingly taking a long time considering theres literally a bandai factory 30 minutes from me
Based on your username you're from the Philippines, right? Moreso near Lima Technology center in Lipa? IIRC the Bandai plant there's more focused on Gacha items for export; they have reserved Gunpla production in Japan.
@@alonsogabriel9336 cannot risk their IP leaking to bootleggers, especially with their ongoing beef with the Chinese companies behind Daban and Dragon Momoko.
Just wanna say that the most probable reason why bandai doesn't give us a peg joint for the hips and gives us a ball joint instead is for price saving reasons. For ball jointed hips, the joint that connects the legs to the hips only requires one part to be molded for each leg. But if we want a peg joint that one part will have to be 3 parts. The hole where the peg inserts in and the two parts that is gonna sandwich it and allows it to move up and down. On normal kits it's a standard because the price is not a problem but since they want EGs to be as cheap as possible they just decided to go with balljoints.
I want to comment on just how surprisingly tough this kit is. Mine has fallen backwards off my desk onto my unpowered baseboard heater twice and doesn't have so much as a scratch from it. All that happened is the joints did joint things and some parts moved as they were intended to do. I do recommend cutting the front skirt armor apart into the halves though as was done here.
I'm going to sub as I'm hoping to begin my journey into gunpla models. I might be alittle late starting at age 27 but I'm excited and hope I can do this.

One of the reason Bandai made this lineup is to encourage people without much(or any?) knowledge about plastic models to try it.
because it's for new builders, that's why. EG is also good for kids who want to start building kits. no pun intended, btw.
@@lukmandanish96 i’m asking myself the question
Why should i buy it when it serves no greater a package than the HG
I get that it’s an entry level kit, but i see little reason for myself to buy it
SD kits also let you just pull parts right off the sprue.
Whether their kit is designed to reduce nubs depends on the kit.
Try the left over sticker cut-out you kept holding from the last video from the lindwurm for the camera lens.
EDIT: Japanplaza has it with shipping for $16 it's not that bad (with vat it will be $20)
I would get the HG. You get way more stuff and the EG has a problem of getting really loose after a few weeks
My condolences to all Gunpla fans in Europe. I don't know why Bandai refuse to market Gunpla & Gundam in Europe.
That backpack fashion show really blow my mind. I wanted to see more!
EGs keep impressing me more and more
The same happened to me with the beam saber.
Really enjoyed the backpack fashion show sequence. hope theres more in the future.
I dont know how but i lost the most important part of the waist the ball joints to connect the legs the skirts too
No backpack test with the Fake Nu add-on for the Alus?
I hope that Bandai does a full weapons set for all the recent EG Gundams just like the rx-78-2
If they do this i would buy the strike & nu Gundam
5:45 wait i thought without the polycaps it would not get loosen over time, would it ???
never thought dog foods are like cereals now😆 it comes with a toy, and its a gundam!
Bandai is killing it on these entry grades!
They really are. Can't wait to see how they expand the line in future
The Wing bonking it's head on the shelf was great!
I can’t wait for the fin funnel expansion set. I hope we get a flight unit and weapons for the strike entry grade
Or the HWS equipment
If you can’t wait just get the HG. It just got reprinted
Im prtty sure theres a third party hg/rg compatible iwsp pack i have one and ive been using it for my entry grade strike and it works really good
I just ordered Build Divers' Fake Funnel set with my EG Nu.
@@MSGSlayer1 where did u get yours its out of stock on hlj
WE. NEED. AN. ENTRY. GRADE. G.M
!!!
9:56 also this beam saber is just for aesthetics.
Because the Nu Gundam has 2 beam effects specifically for this particular beam saber that is not included with this kit.
Both the HG and the HG HWS have those beam effects. Another reason as to why they are better than this.
I never understood ASMR until 4:13 that is so satisfying
Looks like a perfect "I wanna try custom stuff" kit.
That's pretty much what I've relegated my EG Granddaddy to lol. Been primed and on the sticks for quite some time though..
Been waiting for this to release in my country so I get to pair something witg my hg sazabi
Which is surprisingly taking a long time considering theres literally a bandai factory 30 minutes from me
Based on your username you're from the Philippines, right? Moreso near Lima Technology center in Lipa?
IIRC the Bandai plant there's more focused on Gacha items for export; they have reserved Gunpla production in Japan.
@@DedMan28 yeah, nice deduction man
Its kinda sad they dont do gunpla though.
@@alonsogabriel9336 cannot risk their IP leaking to bootleggers, especially with their ongoing beef with the Chinese companies behind Daban and Dragon Momoko.
@@DedMan28 ahh I see, that makes sense.
I'll probably try applying for a job at my local bandai soon, if ever theyre hiring engineers.
the back pack fashion show was really funny :D I can't wait to get my greasy hands on this EG Nu Gundam
That makes some sense but 30mm kits, and the shoulder joint on this kit have the full range of motion with just 2 parts.
This remind me of the 1/100 HG from the 80s, the metal parts added heft to the kit and looked very good compared to other kits from that time
How's that ibo custom coming along?
Backpack fashion show is now my new favorite segment
Love it, and i enjoy building it, looking forward for more entry grades in the future
This is one of my favorite kits I put together even though it's an entry grade. I looks great and it was an easy build. I also love the eg Lah kit.
I am curious to see if the fin funnels from the fake nu weapons set will fit on this kit. I got both and I am going to see how that goes.
Are the Build Diver ReRise Fake Nu funnels compatible with this Nu?
I love how the freedom is just seating there in the corner
guess we gonna ignore the murdock in the fridge
I'm going to sub as I'm hoping to begin my journey into gunpla models. I might be alittle late starting at age 27 but I'm excited and hope I can do this.
Do you think we will see more Entry grade kits in the future beyond different painted of the 3 that are you?
Why there is two type of nu gundam? The bold blue and the violet blue one
If you're talking about the Hi nu gundam then the hi nu is in the chars counter attack manga while the nu is in the movie
I audibly said out loud "No No No!!!!" when you were about to cut the Moon's backpack lol
Great video as always one question what was the the name of the one that was in the fridge..never mind sorry great vid
