2019 is a good damn year
2015: RG 00 Raiser is unparalleled, everything about this is perfect. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is the best-looking RG release to date.
2017: RG Unicorn Gundam is literally the best Gunpla Bandai has ever made, ever, full stop. It's literally absolutely perfect in every way.
2019: RG Nu Gundam is the best Gunpla ever, change my mind. This does not feel like an RG, this feels like a shrunk-down MG, and then some.
It's crazy how far RG has come, honestly.
RG is probably become my second favorite line of gunpla to build right behind MGs, tho after building the Sazabi and Nu.....I am seriously starting to question if MGs are my favorite still.
Oh the gold days... Early RG's were like hand grenade. Now newest RG's looks more better and sturdier hahaha

I like metal structure more than RG
It look a lot more powerful and stronger
I still want them to only put psychoframe in the cockpit not entire suit, call me a stupid if ya want but i want a kit that has the same function as it is in the original design. Look can change but i don't want Bandai to change it's lore.
@@reidge4479 I agree. I don't like Nu with the full psycho frame because it rapes the lore of UC. Torso psycho frame is the way to go.

The metal structure design is even more distinctive than the original design. I mean, like the MG Ver. Ka, it has Psycho frames everywhere, or rather even more, I mean take a look at the shield, it has small Psycho frame fins
And meanwhile the RG has the least Psycho frame, after the HG

long, face wide shoulder, powerful soldier proportion (RG has korean kpop idol proportion which look weak compare to Metal Structure), it is the best incarnation of nu gundam we ever have if you don't count that disgusting lore-changing psycho frame

To me, this feels more like a mini Perfect Grade than anything else and that is amazing.

I find the RG kits are more attractive than perfect grades. There are some very detailed PG, but some can be really basic, almost looking like large high/master grades. The level of detail on real grades is absolutely stunning, hi-nu counterattack I think is peak
This right here is why I have always referred to the RG series at a mini PG. The level of detail easily blows the MG versions out of the sky.
Seeing the RG Nu Gundam for the first time when it was announced months back was what got me back into gunpla after years of hiatus. Seeing how GODLIKE it is just drives my WANT to the limit!
Also, you forgot the extra point of articulation on the shield's attachment point, which allows it to pivot side to side along the centerline, a feature you hardly ever see in Gunpla.
You could say Bandai took Real Grades to a whole Nu level with this kit

At this rate, the RG Grandaddy Ver.2.0 could be the first ever Real Grade since the Skygrasper to lack any Advanced MS Joint runner (unless Bandai wants to have Perfect Grade style hands in 1/144 scale).

After watching this review, i can't wait to have mine assemble. I even bought RG Sazabi after watching you display them both together. I just hope i have the will power and can find some time to build them as i have a lot of pending project. Good review mecha gaikotsu. Keep up the good work. I always refer to you as my no 1 source for gunpla related after type v3 .
THE articulations + extra joints are insane! Definitely on my to buy list now even though I didn't know much about Nu Gundam, just for the mechanics.
So dies this mean the RG Sazabi is no longer the best gunpla ever? Looks like its gonna have to Char Kick the Nu gundam to get its crown back...

Amuro has always beaten Char in mobile suit combat. Char wins in charisma though.

@@splay4770 Not after Char's Counterattack. Amuro's combat skills were much more developed than his past self on 0079, and that's not just his newtype abilities; it's more thoroughly developed. If Amuro was using RE-GZ and Char was using Jagd Doga, I think Amuro can keep up with Char, despite the lack of funnels.

The Hi-Nu Gundam is not an upgrade of the Nu Gundam. The Hi-Nu Gundam is the Nu Gundam in an alternate universe. They're essentially the same, the Hi-Nu Gundam is from the Beltorchika's Children Manga, and the Nu Gundam is from the Char's Counterattack movie. The movie and the manga basically tell the same story, but with a few differences.
@@justinc6257 Didn't they say that the Hi-Nu is what the Nu should have been if 100% complete? It does have better performance and firepower.
@@hazeauburn In the really old video games they interpreted it that way, but newer source material has stated that it's just an alternate rendition of the Nu Gundam. The Nu Gundam and the Hi-Nu Gundam are the equivalents to each other in different universes. It's performance and firepower is basically the same.

A nice trick for making nub marks look better is to quite literally scratch them with your fingernails, which removed the paler stressed plastic color that makes them stick out. Has really helped me in the past.

when they announced the RG Nu my first thought was "if they manage to improve the fin funnels is an insta buy for me". to my surprise they didn´t stop just at that, and made a pletora of improvements to an already amazing kit like the ver Ka. can´t wait to get this and the RG Sazabi, oh, and water slide decals for both kits lol

I just recently got into Gunpla, actually still waiting on my first kit the Freedom Strike 2.0, but I was messing around my local Gamestop looking for NECA Jason figures yesterday. I look up on the shelf, and what do I find to my surprise? This kit right here. Shocked the crap out of me because to my knowledge I've never seen Gunpla in that place. This channel got me back into Gundam (Netflix only has UC Unicorn unfortunately) and I'm starting with the MG RX-78 V3. 2nd on the list was the GM Sniper 2, then you put this out. Thanks, now I'm going to end up having a display room in the basement now. I'm clearly not only getting 2 or 3. I can tell it'll hit the "collection" point.
This kit is the reason I love Real Grade models as much as I do, I built the Sazabi and while I love that kit too, I just can’t keep my hands off this guy, so much detail, so solid, and just so pretty.

Come to think of it, the Nu Gundam is the most advanced Gundam Type mobile suit officially used by the Federation. The Unicorn units had Federation pilots, but were never really used officially by the federation itself.
I've got a RG Sazabi showing up this weekend that I ordered after watching your Best Gunpla of 2018 video where you were saying that it might be the best gunpla ever. I planned on jumping it in line straight ahead of my RG Wing Zero EW and RG Strike Freedom, which I bought to be my second and third builds (for when I finish panel lining and decaling my first build, the RG 00 QAN[T]).Sigh...I guess I'm getting a RG Nu now.
Just found this at my local Barnes and Noble. I want the P-Bandai expansion just for the display stand and arms.
The Nu Gundam was one of my earliest Gundam purchases. The old kit that had screws and, if I remember right, required glue. Can't wait to put this one together.

I have this kit and it was an amazing build. Very solid build. The articulation and poseability is absolutely amazing.

Small, beautiful, and (mostly) affordable, even starting on the RG RX-78-2 Gundam I'm in love with them, building RG Nu Gundam and Sazabi to go with it were even more fun!

I'm glad I pre ordered the PB funnel set for this, despite my kit going missing in customs, but it doesnt matter as I'm not building it until the funnel set arrives.
The real grade is lacking in some colornseperation in some vents but excels where it added detail, both in color separation and design. But the good looking pieces of the ver ka have better color separation and dimensions.
As looks go it's almost a clean, even split.
If Bandai can do this for Nu, sazabi, and unicorn, then they could Kshatriya as well. We need more monoeye kits nxt yr 😭 or prolly revise the early releases

Patiently waiting for PG Nu
I'm pretty sad... I've been away from the news about new releases for a bit by now. The inner frame and the articulated fingers hand at 1:144 scale were what really got me into gunpla. I was an admirer of gunpla before, but that was what made me need to have it. I was planning on getting the newer RG kits I have missed by now, but now I don't know if I might.

I'm building this kit as I type this and its insanely detailed.
I have the RG sazabi as well and it's the center piece of my ZEON collection and it's my favorite kit atm.
I'm super sad the inner frame concept has died. It was so cool, conceptually, to have that mechanically accurate complete inner frame lurking underneath all the armor pieces... even if in practice this didn't really work, I hope it gets revisited in the future.
