Can you think of a better way how to prevent a gecko from escaping cuz it has happened to me before I have had two geckos Escape one I have found but one I did not found🤦♂️😔
As long as your room is able to keep the temps ambient you do not! But we did eventually switch to under belly as my room couldn’t hold the hot spot where I wanted!
I went thru all the videos an could not for the life of me find what geckos you ended up putting in there... I was guna build this but now idk if it actually works
Very nicely done! You guys are so sweet together ❤️ I am all about animals and my pets, but they don't mean the same to my bf as they do to me. Nice to see a couple that cares about their pets together!
I'm building a system myself out of lumber, dont worry I've done the research for types that can and cant be used :) I was wondering how well the heating system works from the back? I would have the heat tape inside the enclosure on the back wall and covered with a thin film to keep the animals from directly accessing it
i really like this! where did you get your heat tape from? and how much did this cost you? i’m trying to get something to bring my leo to my dorm haha , also Crestie :)
Reptile basics! I think like $40ish! We ended up having to line it under the belly but depending on how cold your dorm gets you may be able to do it this was!
Hello! So I was just wondering I got my first crested gecko Wednesday. He hasn’t eaten. I know it takes them some time to settle in and eat but I was just wondering how long it takes for them to start eating. He did poop today tho. Also if he hasn’t eaten his Pangea yet, should I give him insects? Because I heard that they can get hooked on insects and not want to eat their Pangea.
How big is the crested gecko weight and age if you know it! If they are pooping they are eating! Don’t feed insects till they constantly take Pangea for about a month. And then slowly introduce crickets about 4-8 a week.
www.reptilebasics.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlIj18vmi7AIVUNbACh1y7gvTEAAYASAAEgJ9bPD_BwE Make sure if you can provide the ambient heat you run it under the slots for belly heat!
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos okay haha good! I bet the rack is cheaper than any animal plastics rack!!! Certainly better than a lot of other racks though tbh
Thanks for your opinion Carolyn! They have plenty temperature gradient! And if you listened to the video it was very temporary as we have a rack system now set up!
Aye I’m just saying before you get all high and mighty calling shit out like that, why don’t you watch videos on sasobek or Brian from BHB reptiles. Then come back and call shit out.
Please read manufacturer website about thermostat placement. Most heat tape should not exceed 105 degrees F. Not placing the thermostat on the tape itself can lead to issues. Look up Chris Hardwick's video on heat tape for reptiles
For anyone watching this, don't put the heat on the back of the bin like this. Gecko's need BELLY heat so it needs to be on the floor of their enclosure.
Stop being cheap and buy them real enclosures they deserve that at least. If you can't afford or just don't want to spend money on pets then don't get them!

This is good for adult ? I think it would be more suitable for juveniles or sub.
I agree. It’s okay for temporary for adults but not long term
Do you mind doing an update video on how you rerouted the heating source? Great vid btw! Pretty easy to watch and straightforward
We have since taken it down! I can for sure mention it! We upgraded to a vision rack system
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!
You need to have the heat tape going under, leopard geckos prefer belly heat.

@@NickHowellElectricgeckos ok sorry I am a new gecko owner but love the species thanks for the feedback, and also love your channel!
Thank you so much! I do think we could have done this build better but it was just temporary! Keep the passion!!!
@Nick Howell thanks I will!
Nice but they need belly heat for most part
Great vid!
Thanks man!!!
where did you get the tub system?
It was just some empty shelving units we had laying around!
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos ok thanks!
Great video guys!
Thank you!!!! I still need to send you the picture of the phantom pinstripe!
I went thru all the videos an could not for the life of me find what geckos you ended up putting in there... I was guna build this but now idk if it actually works
It was our leopard geckos! The only conn is tub size and holding heat. At the time our room was too cool to hold the proper temps!
does heating it from the back wall still work for you?
No it did not. I had to move to belly heat not long after! Back heat can work if the room itself is kept warm enough
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos ok thank you this helps alot :)

Yes we love them! They aren’t for everyone! I’m just glad Meghan supports me!
Cool I want to start one to crestie
Bro what if i put alot of holes in that box can ah?

We eventually did move it to belly heat but back heat can work out room got too cold though!
Can you post the links for the heating please?

The cockatiels are a bit stressed, it’s good to cover the top of their cage when they’re outside because they are fearful of avian predators.

It’s way better for them to only eat Pangea than it is for them to only eat insects
Nick Howell ok thanks! He is still a baby. Probaly not more than 6 grams
Feed him from a bottle cap so you can monitor how much he is eating!
Nick Howell ok thanks a ton!
Idk if you said in the video but where did you get those vents?
Home Depot!
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos awesome thanks any specific isle I will find them in?
Aisle: 19 Bay: 012 is where mine are locally!
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos awesome thanks hopefully mine is the same. You think this same type of bin setup would be good for baby crested geckos?
No. I use sterlite lockable bins! You can create a rack system but I prefer tubs!
Hey Nick, great video. can you please provide link for heat tape?

Make sure if you can provide the ambient heat you run it under the slots for belly heat!
Why do you use back heat? The gecko won't get any heat that is helpful for them they need belly heat to digest food and that's where they absorb heat.
The hot spot was able to get hot enough. But yes we did reroute the heat tape. The open sides made it hard to maintain the temps.
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos okay haha good! I bet the rack is cheaper than any animal plastics rack!!! Certainly better than a lot of other racks though tbh
For sure! We did the whole thing for like $150! And $50 was the heat tape 😂
@@NickHowellElectricgeckos dang!!! Im getting new racks soon I'm paying like 800!!! Lol crazy! But these racks are super good.
Ryan.T/ RECKO Reptiles what racks are you getting?!
This is definitely helpful thank you !

I’m early lol
Love it 😂
Too small for the geckos!!!!! They need more room! CRUEL. Where will you put the 3 hides that they need (moist hide, cool hide and warm hide)?

Yes, in a later video I explain it didn’t work and ultimately looped it to be belly heat!

Thank you for your opinion! This was only temporary and the bottom portion had more space than a 20 gallon! But I appreciate you sentiment!!
Aluminum foil tape works much better and cleaner
