Keep the gardening tips coming. My best tip from 2021 was to chop and drop, a game changer. Love how you are working with mother nature and saving that precious water. Happy Christmas to you both 🎄🥂❤️
A good layer of wood chippings will absorb quite alot of water and slow down evaporation. They are also easy to move around. Over time they can soften and improve the ground beneath them too. I imagine that putting a good layer in your pond/hollow/parking space during the dry season will help you cope with the overflow in the wet season. Something to stop them washing away will probably be necessary initially.
Absolutely. We’ve been making and using wood chips on the farm since we bought the place. It’s a wonderful product for all the reasons you suggested. Thank you 😊
Dears NV. The military maps, that i told you to buy in episode 1, will show you the water lines of your property. Remember that when we have years of litle rain, like we had,we can not see them. But when it rains a lot, they will be "alive" and it is very dificult to stop them. Be safe.
A bit of an abrupt ending there guys. Not being familiar with amaranth I did a little look around and it seems it's kind of debatable as to its use and safety. What do you do with yours besides popping it, for cereal I presume?
We have only grown a small amount previously as we had a small allotment. It makes a sort of porridge rather than a crispy cereal. I like it popped. Hopefully we’ll get a bigger crop next year and will come up with more interesting things to do with it. We’ll do a longer ending next time 😁
You are my favorites. I love your property and your vigor and everything you grow with your extensive knowledge and your new experiments.
We love reading your comments, Shirley. Thank you so much 😊
Thank goodness for the rain!
We are really grateful.
Efforts for your rain water harvesting are outstanding. All the Best 👍
Thanks 👍
I ordered and installed a solid rubber tire for my wheelbarrow and each time I use it I'm soooo glad.
That’s great. 👍

Thanks Ber, and happy Christmas to you too. 😘
You guys are fantastic ..And work really hard
We do our best. 😊👍
Watching this from the lounge again, just at the other end. Loads of rain! You just need the massive storage tank now 👍👍👍👍
Oh yes! Safe flight.
Nice work - soon you’ll be retaining 100% of what falls, plus the neighbor’s overflow!
I hope so! Thank you.

So glad you got rain and it’s filling your well!
We were so happy to see it rain, Linda. Thank you.
I'm glad to see you got some decent rain . That was some creative water diverting .
If we’re lucky, more rain is forecast today and tomorrow too. The change on the land is amazing, everything is green again. ❤️
Great videos altogether
Thank you, Anne. 😊
Great job. Maybe you should think about swails to catch the rain.
Yes, swales are in the plan.
😂 you bite back LoL 🌸
I can only be the loving gardening lady when it suits me. I bite too. 😂
Looks like you need to build some swales with stones
Thanks

We are going to find those maps. Thank you for the heads up.
Obrigada. We’ve been trying to find them. 👍
Create swells to capture the rainwater
Yes indeed. Great plan.
Could you divert the run-off from the road into your cistern/well? As a kind of percolation tank?

Amaranth is good as a flour also. To thicken soups, etc. Or as a gluten free alternative.
Great information, Deona. Thank you.
Amaranth leaf and seed are incredibly nutritious.
