Paleo is in my personal Top 10 favorite games! For the longest time, I felt this game had delved into the cascade of relentless board game releases and left to silently flow down the river of forgotten board games. I’m so glad you brought this game back into the limelight. Truly, I hope your video motivates other gamers to give it a look and experience for themselves how unique and engaging this game is. You did a great job pointing out the pros and cons.
I love the passion you expressed in the introduction of the lore and theme about the teamwork and environment. It gave it a poetic flavour to the game that I will try to transmit to my fellow players when I put it in the table.
I'm currently playing Paleo and loving it. The gameplay is challenging and fun, with a surprising amount of theme and story to immerse you. Great game.
Wonderful review Alex! We played our first game and got a wolf and a really tanky person. We won non-problem and thought, "Well that wasn't so bad." Three games later and we haven't won again and I love it. Cheers and thanks for this.
As you mentioned, Paleo feels a lot like Robinson Crusoe. And for me personally, Crusoe does things better. I‘m a fan of more complex games and Crusoe does a better job for me. Paleo is a good game and nicely done but often times I just felt like cycling through the deck to get that one card that gives us the last painting piece to win the game. As Crusoe and Paleo give me a similar feeling, Crusoe is the better option for me. Especially with the growing content and deluxification from the gamefound campaign.
How did I miss this review? Anywho, I'm planning to wait for the expansion before getting this game. It'll give me time to play what I already purchased.
One thing that stoppped me from getting this game is replayability. Like most coops after completing it you wonder if it’s worth getting back Into. I feel this way about pandemic
There are actually plenty of modules that are included that give the game plenty of variation. You would have to play Paleo many, many times before you see everything this game has to offer. It really does have a good amount of replay value considering I found the game for $35. It was absolutely worth the price!
Enjoyed this game...BUT...I find it a bit frustrating when you are starting off with new cards in the deck and you essentially end up playing a game just to learn what you need to do to win. It's rare (I'm not sure we have ever done it) to win with a new deck, and I'm sure if you did it would just have been great luck. So essentially the game wastes your time by making you go through cards figure out what you really need to do and then play a game were you have a real shot at winning, again assuming that you are not just unlucky. This gets harder as you go along as the game ramps up in difficulty. I also found that the inventions are all but useless unless you just happen to get lucky and have the one you need pop up at the right time. I do think the game is a very good coop, and works great at 3. I do find though that if you just want to save yourself some frustration , just look through the deck before a game and understand what you need to do and then reshuffle and play. You will save at least one playthrough if not 2 and have a better experience in my opinion. Thanks for the review.
It's weird to me that English people took the word Paleo from the Greek and added a random "i" sound in the middle. "Payleeo" rather than "Pah-leh-o", I guess greek got the same treatment as latin after the vowel shift, so it's par for the course. It just sounds wrong to my ears which are used to hearing it in Spanish. Haha
Is this with artwork from the original European edition, or is it the newly announced edition that will be more sensitive to PoCs and other alphabet groups, because a few people were outraged that it depicted only men and women and ones with lighter-skintones, as well? As it likely was in prehistoric what-would-become France.
Just ordered this with a discount, you already told us it's great so had to take the opportunity. Still going to watch the review because if not a 5 out of 5 I will scold you in a next comment 🤪 Edit: well guess I can still cancel the order 🙄
@@kumanight really depends on the games, F.i. the loop (English EU version) was readily available before the US reprint, zombicide is easier to get at US Amazon, since most EU stock is gone. It really depends and is quite random.

Really nice review -- gave me a better feel for the game than other reviews that I've seen and moved it up on my buy list. Thank you.
Glad I could help :)
You made me wanting this game whereas other reviewers didn't. I'm curious about the expansion that's coming soon.
Wow! Your enthusiasm really makes me interested in this game!!
It's a very one of a kind experience, definitely worth trying

Loved this game but didn’t get through all of it yet. Need to get back to the table.

I like it solo two-handed. The solo out of the box is not so good, but two-handed is very enjoyable.
Yep, that's how I would play if playing solo.

awesome review of an awesome game! Only that it's not Ankh yet? :P
Lol we'll get there.

After playing the first game I made a summary. The next time I couldn’t start right away, I have to reread the rulebook.

I have been trying to pickup this game for a few months now, have not been enable to find it anywhere in the US.

If you watch the SUSD review of Paleo he explains why its a little weird pretty well. (towards the end.)
