Man alive, this is one brutal, ball-busting bastard of a game! Haven’t come close to succeeding with the first scenario, but I love it even though I’m rubbish at it. Great for solo play and the strength of the theme is second to none. Could definitely use that Prozac expansion though 🙂
I was thinking the opposite, very strange. I like the content and the intent, but the sound was weird. It's like he's whispering at max volume. Very heavy in the lower range and somewhat uncomfortable to listen to.
Bryant Howard it’s been a few months had to rewatch (re-listen) to reacquaint myself. I would suggest listening to almost anything else to see an immediate improvement on the audio. Perhaps this works well when using headphones, but I don’t and this is miserable to listen to. It’s like he’s trying to sneak a review in behind somebody’s back. It’s just basically distracting and detracts from his content.
Yeah it's a great one, I really like it. I did OK up to the Cannibal scenario, haven't beaten that one yet. I have the second edition, and they definitely didn't fix the slidey card issue. That's a bit of a ballache, it would have been cool if they made little recesses on the board so you could place the cards into them. Works really well solo.
Great review as always ! In my last game, I was such a clumsy carpenter that I stabbed myself in the leg with the shovel I was trying to make. Luckily I felt very determined and continued to make a hatchet only to hit myself in the head with it. Soon after gangrene got my leg so we amputated it and a massive headache set in from the blow to the head. Needles to say a one legged carpenter with a throbbing headache didn't build the most stable of shelter roofs, so that came crashing down with the first windstorm and injured the whole party. My buddy the explorer was as capable at hunting as I was at crafting. He tried hunting birds with a knife.. so I guess he had to climb a tree.. only to be bitten by a viper, in the face.. Great game, would recommend! xD Ps I do like the game. But the rulebook of the 2nd ed is still a mess, similar to what you described imo, or maybe im just a big dumb dumb :p

It’s a problem filing in such a small space as the highlights get blown out real quick as I’m always too close to the light source. I’m shooting at f2.8 wide open and iso 640 to try and counter but it’s a massive headache. I’ve tried sorting it in post but premiere messed it up. Trial and error I guess.
I can see you point. The Robinson one suck as does the King Kong one. However voyage of the beagle is top notch. I guess I just like punching myself in the face.
Great review - had me laughing in several places. Where is the best place to buy this? I can't find the English version anywhere... I can see a German version... and a Spanish version... There is a version selling on Amazon UK which says it's English, but people who bought said it wasn't English (...) UPDATE: Just checked and this is SOLD OUT in EVERY SINGLE UK retailer / shop online. Even the manufacturer's website PORTAL says SOLD OUT for the whole of Europe... LOL - it's impossible to buy this anywhere One retailer WaylandGames states 'awaiting reprint' aswell as unavailable... Is this currently having another edition manufactured? Very confused
