Hi ya! Love your videos. About wound distribution, I read in the Rulebook that you're only supposed to choose one person to take all the wounds inflicted to the whole group, not to share the wound tokens amongst the members of the group.
@@OneStopCoopShop thank you for confirming Mike, and keep doing great work! I’m waiting for a re-print so I can order Paleo, your videos give me confidence that my partner and I would really enjoy it! Thank you!
Got this for Christmas and tried it out with my sister's family. The first game we used sets A and B and 3 players, as recommended. After a few missteps and some confusion, we completed it. For the second game, we added a 4th player and sets C, D, and J, again as recommended. We got SLAUGHTERED! There just aren't enough cards for 4 players. There was no way to get enough food and resources to complete anything. I would strongly recommend playing with 2 or 3 players or maybe always including sets A and B. (Update: we didn't actually use set J. I misremembered that.)
Wait wait... you used set "J"?!?! J is a "boss" set that you should only add after you are experts at the game. In the rules supplement, the second recommended sets are just C and D, which by themselves are much more manageable. I've beaten them at all player counts. Also, you only play with 2 sets at a time (unless you are adding J), so I wouldn't add A or B to other combos. You'd mess up the balance of the game.
@@OneStopCoopShop I just looked again, and we only used C and D. I don't know where I got J from. We only used two sets for 4 people, so there were not enough turns for us to gather supplies and feed all 8 of our people. We lost before the end of the second round.
@@burgundymarcia you always use the 32 base cards labeled with a number "1". Is that what you mean? Those fill out the deck a ton and have lots of food options, so if you weren't using those the game would be basically impossible :)
@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, 32 cards + the 21 cards of sets C and D only give you about 12-13 cards each for 4 players. Considering that many cards require that you discard 2-3 cards, those 13 cards disappear FAST! Then, some cards are removed from the deck when played, so subsequent rounds you have even fewer cards. I don't think I'll try with 4 players again. Seems more possible with 2 or 3.
I am excited to watch your adventures. I love the game but my son refuses to play with me since I decided to hunt the baby mammoth when we were playing...
@@OneStopCoopShop that would be genious on so many levels, I need to becomemore creative in my gaming. My son would be happy and who does not want a pet mammoth! Now I want to go and play again right now!! 🦣
My son won't hunt the wild boar or baby mammoth (pigs are his favorite animal and the baby mammoth is awfully cute) and refuses to take the help action if I hunt either. If I do hunt them I get a really sad and disappointed look but we keep playing as he loves the game (and has been my only gaming buddy for over a year).
I dont think you were supposed to lose a food with penalty box of the thorny berries. Wouldnt there be a little arrow to denote when you lose something?
You are right! I got confused by the red background, but it looks like you pick some berries to get one food, but impale yourself on thorns in the process :)
I am deciding if it want to order Paleo and watching your playthrough to help decide that (Have to many games on the Shelf of Shame, not to play new games :) ) One question: At aprox: 11:20 with the first berry bush. You discarded a food and took a damage. Are you sure you should not have gotten that food instead, as there is no arrow on the food icon ? Thematic it makes sence too, you dit nok have the tools to remove the berries carefully, so you just took them and got scatches in the process.
11:22 You're usually really good at putting notes in the video, but I didn't see a mention that you forgot to discard a food when you took that damage. (Also, I just got my delivery which included this game. Hoping to play this weekend. :D Would not have given this a second look without your channel. Thank you!)

This game was a pleasant surprise. I love it. Simple, fun, and thematic.
My reaction exactly!
Paleo is my favorite 2020 game and one my favorites of all-time.
I'm in a similar space! Very glad to have it

Correct! I did that wrong throughout this video 😅

Mike your enthusiasm is enough to sell me the game :D
Oh man I love it. Did you see my top 20 of the year video? It had a high spot
This looks surprisingly fun and interesting. Like a meatier Onirim/Friday.
Yes, it definitely gave me vibes of Friday especially.
But co-op, and not solvable, and way more varied... so much better than Friday ;)
Just binged Genndy's Primal and now I'm hooked on this theme
It's fun to go from starvation to success in this kind of setting.

The Lost Expedition by Peer Sylvester is a great survival game.
I never played it, but I played the Judge Dredd re-theme and enjoyed that one.

Oh no! You should have cheated and given yourself a pet token, like when you get the wolf, say you adopted the baby ;)

Ouch! You’ll get there!
Does this game have any legs on it? I feel like a couple playthroughs and I will have seen it all. Otherwise looks pretty good
It’s one of my top 10 games of all time. I’ve played it at least 50-60 times. It has TONS of legs :)
To me this feels like 7th Continent, but without the entire exploration and puzzles part
Sure, they are both survival games in a sense.
@@OneStopCoopShop But also revealing a random event and then hoping you have enough "proper" symbols to tackle it
Ohhh, sure, the resolution system, though it’s a lot more forgiving in Paleo :)
