There's an interesting analysis in an old Kirby Collector about Him/Warlock, basically the last major character introduced by Kirby in FF. In Kirby's plot, the scientists who were creating the "perfect" being were not evil, they were just deemed human and therefore lesser, unnecessary beings. But Stan had to turn them into evil Nazi-type scientists, a cliche, to justify their casual murder by their creation. The article suggests it was Kirby's response to the Randian heroes of Ditko, who had no time for flaws in his heroes.

Always thought the Gargunza kiss of death was a reference to Blade Runner.

I love how these Eclipse covers call this inarguably British character "America's #1 Superhero"

I don't know why I never thought of this before... but why tf does the person on the cover not look like Gargunza at all? He looks like... Irwin Corey

Gargunza looks like he’s doing the Stankey leg.

I totally lifted the ending of this for the ending of my last film. But instead of Gargunza getting hurled back to the earth, it's Adrienne King from Friday the 13th. Living the dream, haha! Also, I have always thought that Beckum's generic/outlaw art take made Aggro Miracleman that much scarier. That panel right before he grabs the guys heads is the stuff of nightmares.

Yeah, nothing worse than a piece of garbage out there with your name on it because someone edited the hell out of it. Always demand final look on work before press, if possible. Or at very least, have them take your name out and print it under a pseudonym.
