Open to the staples. Notice the symmetry of the panel layout, the reflection of the V in the pool making a big X. Now lift the left and right page up so you can see the left and right page that were beneath them. Notice the panels mirror each other not only in layout, but in characters and actions. Now lift the left and right page up ... repeat until you run out of pages. There's a tunnel of Rorschach panel layouts that mirror in visual and storytelling that you can't see overtly on regular reading.
Moore, who was also dabbling in music performance (if you want to call "March of the Sinister Ducks" music) had a command of rhythm in his scripts that his contemporaries lacked. There's an incredibly dense packing of information in this series, but as detailed and crowded as it is, he still spends significant time on wordless, contemplative sequences, that not only allow the reader to exhale for a minute, but also impart details subcutaneously, almost like hypnotic suggestion.
My memory of that page in the back is that it was actually drawn by Joe Orlando, not just Dave Gibbons going for an EC Look. It has been a while since I read this but it may be the issue where the marooned sailor literally eats some 'Raw Shark' (Rorschach). The symmetry between 'Raw Shark' and Rorschach might be more obvious spoken with a British/English pronunciation.
One thing I just picked up on is the panel showing the title and above it showing Moloch who is obviously fearful and Rorschach who is portraying symmetry. God there is so much to this fucking comic it astounds me. and obviously the shark in the Black Freighter section is supposed to be Rorschach who is on Ozy’s trail and foreshadows him fucking him over at the end of this issue. I also took it as being the Comedian kinda as everyone tries to swarm him essentially after the murder.
18:28 page 21, last panel of The Black Freighter comic of the shark-raft reflected in the water, and the next panel showing the GWAR poster with the triangle and the teeth in the Venus symbol. Also, on the next page, in the lower left panel, the cop is saying "raw shark", which is what the castaway has just eaten.
You can tell how much a copy has been read by the fingerprints on that black back cover! Incredible design concealed in excellent strorytelling! Great overview, Gents! 🖖♾
You missed all the other ways that panels segue to other panels. Page seven blood splatter leads to top page 8 water splash, "leftovers" bottom page 10 leads to leftovers top page 11, menu bottom page 11 leads to newspaper top page 12. "link" bottom page 12 leads to cufflinks top page 13. the pose of dan bottom page 19 to pose of man on raft top page 20 as well as bottom page 20 to newsguy top page 21. bottom page 21 to top page 22. All overlap, all connected, nothing an accident.
I have a idea for a product but need someone who not only can draw "comic style"... but also is in the comic biz, kjowijgbthe ins and outs along with the connections that would be needed. It's a super simple idea an product in the end...that would be helpful for someone wanting to make a career out of comics.... but also for someone who just likes comics or art in general..... I know I been looking to buy this "product".... but as far as I can tell, there is nothing like my idea out on the market today.
Page 22, bottom left panel. The case file number is 801108. Not only is that number symmetrical, EACH DIGIT is also symmetrical!
This issue is the most perfect comic book ever produced.

The title is a reference to William Blake's poem Tyger
Interesting considering tyger is the name of the green lantern corps annual Alan Moore co wrote during 86/87

Ed & Jim give us that UZUMAKI goodness!
"Oh, shit, that was that homeless guy from issue 1!"--me at 17 reading Watchmen for the first time.

It's Orlando; there was even a point where Moore and Orlando were talking about doing a Black Freighter book.
@@russworks2882 how amazing would that have been?! Oh well...
@@jimmygownley9573 They did collaborate on Phantom Stranger in an issue of Secret Origins; it's some of Orlando's best post-EC stuff.
You guys ever see the Prisoners of Gravity episode on Watchmen with interviews with Moore and Gibbons?

Even the raindrops on the cover are symmetrical.
Grateful for every offering fellas 👌🏾

Exhibit A of my argument that Tenet is constantly referencing Watchmen
!!YЯTƎMMYƧ SYMMETRY!!

Read this book a million times, new insights, many thanks

the middle panels on page 10 and 19 sync well
Love it. Keep up the good work guys.
Page 11 silhouette graffiti probably inspired by Richard Hambleton, street artist in New York in the 80s
