Oh, so this Final Fantasy 7. Had the character appaerance of Jenova? Final Fantasy 7 took influence from this in Miracleman issue 5. Eclipse comics version.
I really like the pointillism on the ship, it makes it seem hazy and out of focus. Especially compared to Davis's strong linework. Like it's such an amazing otherworldly sight that you can't even focus your eyes on it.
Yeah, the colouring in the Marvel reprints is garbage compared to the original. Can't help but feel that'one of the reason for the poorer than expected sales and he Gaiman/Buckingham continuation going on hiatus was the decision to release the work with approximately 50% process/backmatter in the hardcovers, surely a single collection without it as well would be an evergreen for Marvel. In an ideal world redoing the colours to a palette matching the original.

Every time i look at the book, I fall more in love with what alan davis did. absolutely killed it.
Love the discussion! Alan Davis' stippling always reminded me of the pulp master, Virgil Finlay.
Great comic book cover ... looks like a cerebrum and brain stem to me .
