Both guys made mistakes along the way but Charles hit the nail on the head when he said Scottie was insecure. He knew his legacy would be defined as the game's greatest 'Robin' unless he found success w/o Jordan, much like how Kobe felt with Shaq. It's why Scottie pouted when Kukoc took that last shot. And as great as he was, he wasn't at all on Barkley's level. Here's a fun game...look up old Sixers/Bulls & Suns/Bulls games on TH-cam and you'll see Barkley abusing Pippen over and over again any time he attempted to guard him. Jordan was personal and nasty Barkley ignored it, Barkley was given a professional opinion and Jordan couldn't forgive it. Now that it's on Jordan he is letting go of a great friend
It’s real sad to see Scottie tarnish his own legacy in the last few years. He’s coming across as bitter for not getting the same dues as MJ; arguably the greatest to play the game. Scotty is HOF tier, an accolade in itself; but he isn’t GOAT tier
After watching last dance and seeing this I’ve come to the conclusion that Pippin was a straight punk. Always crying about something where ever he went. If it wasn’t for Jordan, Pippin would legit be a after thought. I agree with Charles, Pippin only wanted to win and be in a position that if he lost the blame wouldn’t be on him. Anytime he was called upon to be the man he failed.

Commenting favorably in an interview about a trade that was already in the works is worlds apart from making a secret deal with your buddies to come join your team in free agency. It's not even remotely the same thing.

I love how people treat athletes being friends like it’s a bad thing. As if they have to have this venomous hatred for each other. As if some one needs to hate another person that works the same exact job for a rival company. Being competitive doesn’t equal being hateful but that’s a lesson a lot of fans haven’t learned.
@@RockdaNike It's ridiculous that people legitimately think that. Like its not even difficult to find footage of these same "cold-blooded killer competitors" laughing and having fun together during Team USA practices and all-star games. People need to chill like honestly it's just basketball.

It's very typical that people forget How good the 93 Suns team around Barkley was and was very powerful. Of course they ran into Jordan's Bulls but who didn't.
Actually, I think Scottie's problem was partly his own ego, and lacking self awareness. He always wanted to be the man, but he was never quite good enough to get it done. Yes, he is a top 50 player, yes, he was a tremendous defender and worked hard. But Phil Jackson called him a sometimes shooter. Scottie wasn't a consistent enough scorer to be the man, and couldn't accept being the 3rd option behind Hakeem and Charles, who were both better offensively than Scottie was. So what did he expect? Charles took a pay cut to bring Scottie in, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would have expected a superior offensive player to defer to someone who wasn't as good, but Scottie didn't have that self awareness and maturity. Scottie was a great supplementary piece, but he never had success as a number 1 option, and on the Bulls, it was always MJ, Scottie, a little Kukoc, and nobody else was really noteworthy. For all his hard work and dedication, Scottie was never in the class of Hakeem and Charles and he struggled to accept that. Whining to the media only made it worse, and since Scottie couldn't take shots at Hakeem (a made man in Houston), he took shots at Charles, who was still better than him, but Scottie couldn't accept that somebody who didn't work as hard as he did was still a far more dominant force. No disrespect to Scottie, his resume speaks for itself. But he was always a star, not a superstar, and he just didn't understand that.

Pippen wanted to go to L.A from Houston because he wanted to be reunited with Phil Jackson? Is that the same Phil Jackson he called a racist, for giving the last shot of the game to Kukoc?
IT and MJ never had beef outside of the court. Each other praises one another all the time about each other’s game. Scottie, Bird and Magic had bigger beefs with IT than MJ ever did.
It doesn't matter to me that they didn't hate each other off the court as much as Thomas and Bird, the rivalry defined much of Jordan's early career, and there are enough talking points to do a video on, like the Jordan Rules and the Freeze Out Game. If they did a video on Randolph and Griffin, they can do a video on Thomas and Jordan.
Why have a beef with Barkley? He was probably one of the nicer guys in the NBA. Probably a guy who would have no problem giving you an autograph if you asked him.
I remember that playoff series between the Rockets and Lakers. Lakers were kicking their butt and Pippen and many other Rocket players appeared as if they weren’t playing hard. Barkley was frustrated and said to everyone on the bench ‘if y’all ain’t tryna win this game I’ll win it myself!’ and then slammed his chair on the floor.
Y’all should do a collapse episode on the Houston Rockets. From two back-to-back titles to all these weird experiments to 27 missed threes, it’s been a crazy rollercoaster
Danny Ainge eating his jersey at 2:49 tho 😂 I forgot he even did play in Phoenix, from Boston after playing Major League Baseball for the Blue Jays and and then after it all doing things as a coach with the Warriors... A real two-sport Forrest Gump story.
So MJ had no problem calling Chuck lazy and saying he'll never win a ring because of it. Chuck took it and never let MJ's criticism come in the way of their friendship even though he didn't have to say it! But when Chuck gets a job that involves critiquing players, GM's and coaches, MJ has a problem when he's the one being made fun of! Sad that MJ and Shaq both have this toxic trait!
Yeah, MJ can dish it, but he sure can't take it. It's weak, in my mind. If you want to lead, you should be able to follow, and if you want to roast, you should be able to be roasted.

Kinda cherry-picking they have all said a lot of polarizing things about each other including Charles and Jordan’s relationship
Scottie is the most 90s looking guy I've ever seen, that's the only way I can explain it.
Iv always thought that too. I dont know why lol.
He, Ewing, and the Admiral
Will Smith from Fresh Prince. As a matter of fact, I always saw Tim Duncan and Tony Parker as 2000s versions of Will and Carlton.
It's why he was so angry after losing to LA in 2000 (specifically Game 3). It pains Barkley never to have won a title, but it pains Scottie to be looked as a just great 2nd banana. And as great as he was, he wasn't at all on Barkley's level.
Here's a fun game...look up old Sixers/Bulls & Suns/Bulls games on TH-cam and you'll see Barkley abusing Pippen over and over again any time he attempted to guard him. It must be nice to talk tough when you lucked into playing 10 years with Michael Jordan. Meanwhile, Barkley's best best teammates in his prime were Kevin Johnson & Hersey Hawkins. Now Barkley's getting a lecture on dedication from a guy who caught a DWI a week before the playoffs? FOH
Haven’t watched but I’m guessing the word “knucklehead” was used

*AMEN*
Agreed. Amazing how MJ was able to harness his strengths.
@@rusted8157 Problem with Pippen was that he was Klay Thompson, but he didn't think he was Klay Thompson but he was
convinced that he is Durant. This was his basic problem in Rockets or Blazers when he wasn't playing alongside basketball god Jordan.
So Barkley was right when he said Scottie was convinced that winning the championship was easy because he still thought he was playing with Jordan in Bulls who, when needed, will give you 35 points on 50% efficiency and with 35-40% usage rate.
Rust Cohle he was not 1A to Hakeem. Hakeem was by far better. Pippen wasn't even better than David Robinson and Shaq the years MJ retired

To put healthy young people in quarantine is not normal and not ok
@@reynirrunarsson1335 Yes it is okay.

Ironic that Charles's relationship with Michael is now worse than his relationship with Scottie
No its about the same
Micheal can't take criticism, that's on him.
@@stevereimer5514 he's the 🐐
Because MJ is a baby, e ridiculed Barkley in front of millions on live tv his supposed best friend, Now Barkley just made a comment on Jordan saying that he needs people on his managing team other than yes sayers and Jordan couldn't forgive him for that. Jordan was personal and nasty Barkley ignored it, Barkley was given a professional opinion and Jordan couldn't forgive it. Now that it's on Jordan he is letting go of a great friend
@O A he is telling the truth
He had great talent and deserves to be in the HOF... but he is a support player, that probably gets more credit than he deserves.
And yes he was a bit of a whiner
Who else is happy this man is narrating again 🙌🙌
"Back then we didn't want to play with our all star friends"
- Charles Barkley
And yet in this clip you see him saying he wanted to play with Pippen.
Friends. They were never friends. They were acquaintances through their mutual friend, Jordan. Hell, I can't even tell if Pippen and Jordan were friends.
That would be like chuck joining the bulls lmao not the same
Commenting favorably in an interview about a trade that was already in the works is worlds apart from making a secret deal with your buddies to come join your team in free agency. It's not even remotely the same thing.
Barkley was grasping for a ring past his prime. A lot of players grasped for a ring during the NBA's history, it's not new.
They were all passed their prime.
This isn't like prime Durant joining the Warriors smh
Barkley and Pippen were not in the same HOF class. The Dream Team was inducted but Barkley (2006) and Pippen (2010) were inducted for their individual careers in different years.
So Pippen and Barkley were in the same HOF class then? Got it
Perfect with the last 2 episodes of The Last Dance coming out
I loved the final episode! Almost a tribute to Pippen!! #getthehellouttheway
I like how Pippen was mad he was 3rd priority on the Rockets but wanted to go to the Lakers where he'd still be 3rd to Shaq and Kobe

I love how old heads say that players were never “buddy buddy” like they are today when MJ and CB were best friends while in the league. They were doing all the same stuff they do today, but there was just no social media to constantly make you aware of it
I love how people treat athletes being friends like it’s a bad thing.

You Cudve said it a BETTER WAY bcse as I always tell those who come with the MJ cudnt Win without Scottie, So Wht, isn't it a Team Sport. Now hey amma always give you whts yours whether I like you or not plus I was a BULLS & I am an MJ Fan but am not gonna be biased but Scottie technically Hung Himself during the ECF wen he sat out bcse Phil decided to give Kukoc the Last Shot a mean Kukoc made the same Shot time n time b4 during the Regular Season and it didn't seem like it was a Problem then. Ok cool whts done is done let's move on now there was a game while Pip was on the bench the camera picked him up pointing at the shoes he was wearing and those shoes were Jordan's. So hey maybe MJ took tht as him sayn come bck bcse I need your help.

Pippen’s contract was probably a reason it didn’t happen, meaning too expensive. Plus perhaps the Rockets didn’t want to help a rival as they knew Pippen would fit well with Phil Jackson’s triangle offense.
Pippen would have 9 rings at least lmao
Pippen wanted to go to L.A from Houston because he wanted to be reunited with Phil Jackson? Is that the same Phil Jackson he called a racist, for giving the last shot of the game to Kukoc?

IT and MJ never had beef outside of the court. Each other praises one another all the time about each other’s game. Scottie, Bird and Magic had bigger beefs with IT than MJ ever did.
Al Davis vs Pete Rozelle would be good too lol
It doesn't matter to me that they didn't hate each other off the court as much as Thomas and Bird, the rivalry defined much of Jordan's early career, and there are enough talking points to do a video on, like the Jordan Rules and the Freeze Out Game.

Those Rockets jerseys rule. They're so unbelievably dated that I can't help but love them.

I forgot he even did play in Phoenix, from Boston after playing Major League Baseball for the Blue Jays and and then after it all doing things as a coach with the Warriors...
A real two-sport Forrest Gump story.
Micheal Jordan said that Charles Barkley would never get a ring. That's savage just like what Rajon Rondo said to CP3. 🤣
scottie pippen's earring game has always been immaculate 🔥🔥
This is what I needed during Quarantine
The difference between a good shot and a bad shot is if it goes in or not - Charles Barkley

Its crazy that Barkley and Pippin didn't have a better playing relationship. On the dream team they played together so well. It might have been the regulating influence of bigger stars like Jordan, Magic, and Bird keeping his ego down. Its a lot easier to feel solidarity when you don't think you're the best.
