What I always remember no mater -how obnoxious the players can sometimes be in this social media age- is that the owners are almost always a whole new level of scum. Kevine Garnett was manna from heaven for a franchise like the 'wolves and they never missed a chance to botch their relationship with him. Unbelievable.

I am a huge Garnett fan and I was glad he got a ring. Because before the Wolves came to Minnesota, my uncle had gotten to be a Celtics fan. He lives and breathes anything Celtics. So that was my team and the Timberwolves moved into the passenger seat next to the Boston Celtics.
Your story is good, but saying that Garnett "wasted his prime" in Minnesota, just isn't true. That's what a star does, yes the organization made mistakes, but he made all-star teams, was MVP and an all-nba player. He tried to make them competitive because that's what a star player does. Just because they weren't successful in terms of winning a title, doesn't mean he just wasted his time there.
I'm glad someone gets it! This whole talk of 'wasting a player's prime' is ridiculous. Most star players in any sport will never have a consistent championship contending team around them.
If the goal of your career is to win championships as a team then when they say he wasted his prime that statement is applicable. All star selections MVP awards are individual awards and are commendable feats but in the landscape of sports today if they don't include championships there will always be voices that diminish them. Ultimately KG got his championship when he left and went to the Celtics but I don't believe wanted to leave to get a title for another team. I remember the years that he was in Minnesota and not to make it sound corny but he was a big part of the community there and it seemed like he liked being there and wanted to win there.
@@cameronmaloney2786 no he didn't waste his time. They went to the western finals. He made them competitive. It's a small market team that wasn't going to attract stars. Yes they made mistakes, but he was the driving force as to why they won games. If he's on another team, does he win MVP? Does he win the individual awards while trying to make a run? Who knows. So did Dirk waste his prime in Dallas because they didn't win? They won later, but they didn't win until he was older. Has Dame wasted his prime? Did Westbrook was his prime in OKC? Did Harden waste his prime because Houston didn't win? Steve Nash didn't win, so I guess he wasted his prime in Phoenix, they didn't win a title. Iverson wasted his prime, they didn't win in Philly, he was the best player with not a ton of great guys around him, so that means he wasted his prime then right? Jokic is just wasting his prime away right? He won the MVP in Denver and he hasn't won yet, so is this just a big waste of time? What about Embiid, is he wasting his time in Philly because they haven't won yet? all these great players, clearly they just wasted their primes because they didn't win with the teams they played on. So just because you didn't win a championship, even though you were a competitive team for X amount of years that means you just wasted your time? Not everyone's going to win a title dude. What makes some of these players great, is that they're able to compete with little to nothing on their roster and carry their teams somewhere, just because you don't win right away in your first 5 or 10 years in your career, doesn't mean you're just wasting your time.
I loved the Garnett, Speedwell, Cassell TWolves team, that was one of the best of the era, too bad they didn't win and were only together a couple years.
I did not know his number isn’t retired. Kevin Garnett has meant way more to The Timberwolves than that owner. That is a huge slap in the face to the greatest player to ever wear that uniform and actually stayed loyal when he could’ve have left.
As a life long wolves fan, this just breaks me man… KG deserves to have his jersey retired by this franchise, and I want him around this organization for the rest of his life
I appreciate how your team managed to circle back around at the end to pay respects to Flip. Respectful and decent, yes. Damn good storytelling? Hell yeah.
I used to think all sports were boring when I was a kid. KG coming to MN changed that. He got me excited about basketball even though I sucked horribly the first few years I played. I played PF like him and prioritized defense, hustling and leadership just like him. I even had my senior picture in his jersey holding a basketball that was actually on fire. MN owes KG so much more than he was given. It's a crime his jersey hasn't been properly retired. Should've happened immediately after he retired.
I find it so funny that KG associates himself so much with Celtics and the city of Boston and barely even acknowledges Minnesota these days. Yeah he won his ring in Boston didn't even spend half as much time there as he did in Minnesota. You'd think he'd have a duel loyalty thing going like Payton Manning has with Denver and Indy. But the Wolves burnt the bridge so hard while the Celtics embraced KG post retirement.

@@GDCDGC yeah but were they as successful as our era? I say our cause I'm 25 so I'll guess your around the same age. The wolves led to the big 3 Celtics, in which force the big 3 heat to come together, In which influence the likes of golden state and kd.
Been a wolves fan my whole life. I remember early KG and old KG. Once Flip passed Taylor did screw him over and they need a new owner. I want Taylor gone
Detroit respects what he did for our city as well. Saunders, much love. You were paramount in our championship.
Facts💯💯💯
I am a huge Garnett fan and I was glad he got a ring. Because before the Wolves came to Minnesota, my uncle had gotten to be a Celtics fan. He lives and breathes anything Celtics. So that was my team and the Timberwolves moved into the passenger seat next to the Boston Celtics.
God as a wolves fan this is so depressing but very well done.
It’s BS. Lol His 120 million contract extension killed the wolves to get any caliber free agents. You must be young.
Why must Minnesota sports always disappoint
especially my vikings, sighss
It's the price we pay for living in the most beautiful state in the country.
@@sethmaki1333yeah I love living here today I’m able to go play pond hockey then have an actual hockey game and then go bowling god bless minnesota
Imagine if the Lakers never went to L.A. Minnesota might be basketball royalty.
@@TheyCallMeSledge yeah
The fact that #21 haven't retired in Minnesota, made me feel good about the state of their franchise.
Oh how I missed beef, thanks for the upload!
Man KG was close to being on Untitled I glad guys like him and Dirk got a ring before they left the game
I’ve lived in Minneapolis my entire life, and Flip dying was TOUGH
Your story is good, but saying that Garnett "wasted his prime" in Minnesota, just isn't true.
That's what a star does, yes the organization made mistakes, but he made all-star teams, was MVP and an all-nba player. He tried to make them competitive because that's what a star player does. Just because they weren't successful in terms of winning a title, doesn't mean he just wasted his time there.
Never really thought of it like that
I'm glad someone gets it!
In a lack of better words the wolves wasted KG prime which in turned he wasted his prime there
@@cameronmaloney2786 no he didn't waste his time.
I still can't believe how they fired Sam Mitchell. They played their asses off for Sam.
Sam was one of the most underrated coaches ever
Petition to make untitled Vince Carter
Seconded
As a Wolves fan, thank you for this. Now the world knows our pain.
Retire KG’s Number Damn! Rip Filp Saunders .
I loved the Garnett, Speedwell, Cassell TWolves team, that was one of the best of the era, too bad they didn't win and were only together a couple years.
Kg says and does what he wants and it's so funny sometimes😂
KG was the best fantasy player of his generation. Every damn fantasy team wanted him while he was in his prime.

it’s May 7th, 2024….unfortunately KG’s jersey hasn’t been retired

One of my favorite sports moments was Garnett winning his chip and immediately shouting out Minnesota in his postgame interview.
Glenn Taylor is arguably the worst owner in sports history
“Rests on a bed of beef”
So poetic somehow
OK, KG is an icon. But what I am wondering now is: How did Donovan McNabb finish his career Untitled?
I did not know his number isn’t retired. Kevin Garnett has meant way more to The Timberwolves than that owner. That is a huge slap in the face to the greatest player to ever wear that uniform and actually stayed loyal when he could’ve have left.
Kevin McHale does not get nearly enough credit for being a consistently terrible exec and nearly as bad coach.
This makes me want to cry all over again. If and when KG buys the wolves or is part of the FO I’ll cry again.
As a life long wolves fan, this just breaks me man… KG deserves to have his jersey retired by this franchise, and I want him around this organization for the rest of his life
Another amazing piece of work ...this one breaks my heart for Flip and KG smh
Rest In Peace Flip Saunders
I appreciate how your team managed to circle back around at the end to pay respects to Flip. Respectful and decent, yes. Damn good storytelling? Hell yeah.
The Flip curse remains until ownerships change
I used to think all sports were boring when I was a kid. KG coming to MN changed that. He got me excited about basketball even though I sucked horribly the first few years I played. I played PF like him and prioritized defense, hustling and leadership just like him. I even had my senior picture in his jersey holding a basketball that was actually on fire. MN owes KG so much more than he was given. It's a crime his jersey hasn't been properly retired. Should've happened immediately after he retired.
I mean Kevin Garnett and "not wanting to win"/"tanking"
Top 10 things that are impossible
Also KG: "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
KG’s jersey is STILL NOT retired. Smfh.
But the Wolves burnt the bridge so hard while the Celtics embraced KG post retirement.
always love when y’all cover my minnesota sports teams and the wonderful disasters they are
The Marbury connection could've been iconic...

Rip flip 🪦 a humble guy 💯💯✊🏾💪🏾
Y’all got me with that John Krasinski
Lol me too
On a radio show he's on every week, his intro is literally: "No, he's not that guy from The Office, and no, he's not the Duke basketball coach..."
Huge KG Fan and a big wolves fan when flip died I was shocked grew up watching that duo I hope Kevin buys the Team some day
Rest In Peace Flip. I hope I’m not old when Taylor leaves
One day old and this video has already aged like fine wine.
Lmao imagine not retiring the jersey of the best player to ever play in your franchise's history
I never expected this episode but I loved It.
RIP COACH SAUNDERS❤️
It’s the best feeling when I watch when of these and I hear Seth, He’s undoubtedly the best storyteller on TH-cam
Little did SB know, that the day after they uploaded this video, Ryan Saunders would be fired from his head coach spot.
this might be your best video yet
"Then Minnesota *alienated* Cassell"
What you did there....I see it
yeah because Cassell looks like a damn alien
👽
Why couldn't they win a ring with Latrell Sprewell? He always choked.
Need many more of these. They’re too good.
I do hope that KG buys the TWolves. I know it isn't possible. But he is a guy who loves the TWolves and wants them to succeed.
Yup. it's impossible. KG's net worth is only at 120m.
