Anything under perf level of a 3060(2070Super or whatever around that) is far too less for modern games at even 1080p when you add streaming to it- also I can tell you have no experience with hardware with a 4030 (if it existed) would be just as bad as 5 year old card.
Considering Luna's most likely the only other member besides Botan who really knows PC specs, it's understandable that she'll not be listening to the discussion at all lol

Because when someone is talking about something where this thing is also your field of expertise, and at the same time that person also know nothing about it, in a certain topic, I really want to avoid from getting involved in the conversation.
For computer hardware, I really want to avoid people who don't have clue on the value of the hardware and software from talking this stuff. Since most of people that I met tend to underestimate the price of computer hardware and software.
When someone asks my help to build or at least creating specs for a new computer, I always tried to give the the best specification based on what they need.
But these people can be so annoying when they are not expecting that the price can be that high.

To be fair the guess is quite rational if you keep up with the main GPU news:
- Subaru's debut is sept 2018, stream is from sept 2021 (thus the "3 years ago")
- GeForce 20 series only launched in late sept 2018, early oct, with only a few units available in online stores (retail barely had any units and were all sold out to enthusiasts)
- Shubaru said she got a prebuilt in store, so very likely to be the existing 10 series instead
- Shubaru wasn't the wealthiest back then, only having debuted, so the 1080 is unlikely
- She still streamed and played games with alright performances until 2021, so not a 1060
= leaving the 1070 the most likely GPU for her rig
She got the money from company they did not bother to get her one ...
I dont get that part with “ok performance. 1060 isnt that different from 1070 (6gb one, if it is regular then 1070 is much better).
@deauthorsadeptus6920 the framerate difference between the 1060 and the 1070 is consistently +33% accross dozens of games: when the 1060 outputs 40 fps, the 1070 outputs 60 fps. That is a major difference, the gap between a choppy and a fluid experience.

I got 1080TI in 2018 myself and I've yet to find a reason to replace it. It's also a prebuilt, because my previous PC fried and I had nothing good to browse internet on to pick parts myself, could've saved like 500$ on all the useless RGBs and shit, but, oh well.

I think the 10 series is about to be buried. I've got the 1080 and feel like the newer games since the latest console generation started dialing up the requirements to the point where you're at the lower spectrum of supported cards. It's OK if you play on 1080p or are fine with like 30-40 FPS at higher resolutions. Also I feel like VR and AI make a newer card attractive. I'm about to switch to the RTX 40 series.

Funny enough, still using my GTX 1070 to this day! Works pretty well honestly with most games. Heck, runs Diablo 4 at 1080p, max all settings at 60fps, so yeah. Good card tbh.
Man, I have a friend who is exactly like this! Mate knew everything there is about computers. I know some basic stuff, but tell me to pick some parts to actually use, you'd have better chances rolling dice lol. He's a good friend though. Drove 8 hours to come to my place and help me put my PC together. I know damn well it would've taken me days to put that thing together, but with him it only took a couple hours. 2 years later, still running smooth.

I know my stuff when it comes to PC hardware but I wouldn't have guessed it.
In hindsight it makes sense. While the 1060 was the most popular at the time, the 1070 was extremely good in terms of price to performance and a great card for those that wanted a high quality experience without breaking the bank so it makes a lot of sense management would recommend it.
It's also a decent guess because a 1080 would have a better time with the games that she mentioned. Depending on the rest of the build, of course, but the fact that Subaru struggled with those games suggests that it might not be a 1080
When subaru was new COVER was really just a tech support for hololive and didnt run it directly. I dont think they even had managers, all the talents were kind of on their own. Totally different from today.
People think Yagoo invented hololive the vtuber group but this isnt the case at all. A-chan did, and she just went to cover for face tracking tech support because she looked them up on the internet and they happened to be nearby. "Hololive" was just the name of an iphone application they made that did face tracking for 3d models. Their big product otherwise was a VR ping pong game. (Still available on steam)
consider Luna knows 4 or 5 programing language ( including very old fashion SQL), I think she's just bored about the topic, because it is hard to believe that she would feel confused about this at all..... SQL is like, well, 1970's programing language 🤣🤣🤣

you can be a programmer but clueless about hardware, you usually have someone else in the company take care of that or hire contractor. there's a big overlap between 2 groups but that's just people picking it up as a hobby

I used a shitty 2 core laptop for web development for quite sometime at my first job, add some RAM and and SSD and it works fine. ran 2 IDE, a SQL editor, git, chrome. other things are hosted on a private server
now I have a new job and use a company provided mid range build. some of my colleagues know hardware, but most don't. when there's a need, the compay make a call, someone bring in a pre-assembled PC and monitors or upgrade parts. you don't need knowledge to have a powerful machine. having your devs handle hardware problem is a waste of money

As someone witha 1080 the card is still good and supported and it receives regular updates it doesn’t struggle at all until you are using multiple monitors

I really wish more women knew their PC specs, even among female gamers it's rare. The only one I know who can tell you her PC specs is my sister. And she just knows basic stuff like what the numbers in the name of GPUs or CPUs mean and what RAM is, she doesn't care about the detail and usually let's me pick the best price/performance for her and I or my father build it. She can install easy stuff like the RAM and SSDs though.
But I have seen among the younger gamers more and more men also have absolutely no idea what actually is inside their PC. Like 80% don't know. Back when I was in middle and high school (late 00s and early 10s) most of my classmates knew what parts were in their PCs, they usually picked the parts themselves and built it themselves or let friends or family help them.
I just wish AMD had somewhat more consistency with their naming. Intel and nvidia have been easier to keep track.
FYI, when she said it's 3 years ago, it's more like around 5 years ago. Cuz iirc, this is from an old stream, like from late 2021 or early 2022.

I find it amusing botan is just going around recommending her colleagues the absolute highest end components wherever they ask her for advice. As someone still running a GTX 1070 Ti I can say this bastard is damn reliable. Most games still run over 60 FPS even on high settings and usually significantly worse frame rates are in games that are poorly optimized.
I got a big laptop with a 1070 from 2017, still going strong largely.
Some stuff makes it run a bit more loudly, but the fans do their job

You guys probably don't understand the general Prices of Computer hardware within Asian countries.
Japan is among the most expensive one when it comes to PC hardware. For illustration, for the Price of RTX 2070 in Japan, you can buy a PlayStation 5. It didn't include CPU, Motherboard, RAM, etc.
PlayStation & Nintendo is the cheapest piece of Entertainment console you can get in Japan.
Taiwan is obviously the cheapest for PC hardware.
Japanese people who are Tech savvy obviously go to Taiwan if they want to get absolute cheap price.
Well I hope Botan will elaborate further, considering if Subaru wants to get newer GPUs she'll have to consider upgrading the power supply also just in case and check if the CPU is adequate to handle it so not to introduce bottlenecks.

If anyone use nvidia gpu laptop, limit your game to 60fps in nvidia control panel, disable processor boost mode in power plan, and set processor performance to 99%, it'll reduce your laptop temp 20c and still running smooth, especially for gen 12th cpu

Before upgrading your graphics card, make sure you have the proper Power Supply for it. Also, to avoid limiting the graphic performance aka bottlenecking, you need a decent CPU.
GTX 1070 is nothing to laugh at, even today.
I'm more worried about the Holo-mems filling their PC storage with junk, and never really adjusting game settings.
One of them outright told that when their SSD/HDD got full, they just bought a NEW PC.
Truthness. I wanted to say both of these things as well. It always makes me kinda upset when people pay 10x the amount they need for a new PC when they just need to swap a part.

1070 is a joke for professional streamers that make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. And its not like they play games flawlessly, tons of members have weak PCs and have to lower the settings to low and sometimes even disable their model and go PNGtuber due to how bad their PC is.
