I also have a trickle float charger, stops charging when fully charged.

In theory the battery should smooth anything coming out of the trickle charger. A charger with a higher output might cause issues though. Just one thing to consider Andy is that you really want a fuse inline between the battery and the heater. I cant remember if they are internally fused or not but its worth adding one as Batteries store a huge amount of energy and if you get a dead short on the wiring the battery will easily cause a fire. Another great video though!

yes use charger 24/7, burnt circuit board might be because of high volage from other charger like >16V, also you can use any power supply to charge battery as long as voltage is 12.8V - 14.4V, but recommend for your application to use 13.8V

Trickle-charger yes, Smart charger NO. Some smart chargers have a de-sulphating program that puts high-voltage spikes into the battery. High-voltage spikes = bye-bye controller PCB.

    I have the same.
Power converter that you have. And the diesel heater. I was wondering, do you know how to hook up a battery to that? As well having it plugged in.

Another great video Andy, just wanted to clarify here, you say a fully charged car battery will only last about 5 hours while running the diesel heater ? Low, medium or high heat setting ?
So you'd have to stop the heater & recharge the battery if you have it on for an extended period ??

      thank you my friend
yes, and i only really use the heater on low settings. and then it would need a charge. i have a couple of really good power supply videos, that i will be adding in the next couple of days, and a much better power supply
      have a great weekend andy

Andy, just curious what you used to attach the cold air return hose to the heater in the back? Is there a port they sell for the hose attachment?

i just used duct tape, no drama if not perfect

@@andyfireblade I ordered a 4" port to mount to my housing for a 4" dryer vent so I can hook up a cold air return.

You cannot use a 12 V battery from a Car it's made for cold cranking starting so you can only use 20% of its capacity. Any more than this and you will damage this Battery. You need a deep cycle Battery of some sort AMG or lipo4 And then you will need a charger if you want to use it Battery.
or you buy the device that switches your main power supply to the battery when you have a power cut. I was dropping the link in yesterday but it kept getting deleted. They found on Amazon as an emergency backup switch switching from 12 power supply to the 12 V battery.

You don't seem to have a fuse, I have a 20A fuse on mine
