No, I think Ubisoft ruined the franchise by neglecting the modern day portion of the story and making it incomprehensible whenever they did include it.
Ubisoft ruined this franchise. I've played almost every AC that's come out on the main consoles and Unity was a breaking point for most of the old fans. Their commitment to yearly releases did the most damage. Instead of making us wait for games and polishing them, they decided to be greedy. Ive played the three newer games too and while they're fun and big they try to do way too much and origins is really the only one I would say is close to an actual AC game
I'm surprised anyone thinks of him as underrated, I fell off of AC after 5-6 games because yes, Ubi ruined it. But I always thought that everyone understood that Desmond was the single best character arc. Hopefully AAA Studios will go back to what Rockstar has always done with GTA. Release games when you have something amazing, not because the last one was a year ago..
I hate the modern day stuff because it became irrelevant background noise after the first game. Ezio and the past basically stole the show and when you would have to leave the Animus it would break the flow and that was the main issue. The modern day stuff always broke the flow of the story like waking up from a good dream you were invested in.

Lucy was planted at abstergo by William Miles on a deep cover mission. Vidic knew right from the start that she was an assassin. Vidic turned her and she became a double agent. In short the reason why Lucy turned was because she felt that William had abandoned her as she had been on her own for so long.
@@robbyrhodes4572 there's a lot of story lines they abandoned, the eve stuff for example. Also to this day I'm annoyed that they finished the juno stuff in a comic instead of the games.
They had such a perfect ending for AC III, even if it wasn’t the plan from the start, it was there. It should have been possible for William to step up and take his fathers place. The franchise is full of fathers and mentors failing there sons and students. Breaking that cycle and saving his son would have been perfect for William and Desmond. Thus letting a new one begin with Desmond as a mentor and master assassin and Juno unleashed. Wouldn’t have had to change the future games, they eventually went the route of just needing blood dna for the animus and IV was one step from that. But they wanted to remove Desmond and decided to make a poor ending to the story as a result.
The story of Desmond, and Ezio in particular have been monumental to my life. I had recently revisited the franchise in release order from the first app the way to AC III. The impact this series had on my life is monumental, firstly, the layers of lore and depth in the world building are just mind blowing to me.
