Waheyyy first video to hit 1million views! Thank you all so so much for checking it out and supporting the channel! ❤
Well done. I am glad I came accross this keep up with the great work
You deserve it bro a whole 2 hours of research and work. And that’s just the final product I bet you had way over 2hrs of context before editing. Well done 👍🏼
Love everytime you threw shade at dodgy andrew lmao
Thank you for doing all this work, I want to run a cyberpunk red game with my friends, so this saves me a lot of time.
GOOD VIDEO BROTHER MANNN ❤
I think what I love most about this universe is that the stories of David and V are like drops of rain, tiny in the grand scheme of things. Both David and V went through hell, leaving bodies upon bodies on their path to freedom or survival and in the end? Night city remains. The megacorps remain. To the average night city resident, it was just another Tuesday.
I'd say that is a fundamental aspect of the genre - no matter how over the top and extreme things can get from a surface observation, in the long run it is almost always utterly futile. There is no stopping the corporate/capitalist juggernaut as the greed that lead to corporations in power implies even if you tear them down new ones will take their place. That is if you're even on the level of being able to take a corp down.
The genre as a whole puts a juxtaposition of survival in an utterly dystopian reality against neonbright shining moments of beauty aswell as glimpses into utter horror.
It ends up asking questions in the same way Planescape: Torment does "What does one life matter?"
IDK, my V was last seen heading off into space. He could be anywhere doing anything. In my head, enough of his brain was saved to keep him alive with nanobots and has to share half of his brain with Johnny or die. Its the opposite of those twin brothers from beat on the brat: two minds, one body.
@@danjal87nl well said man! If I recall, during the mission at clouds, V mentions wanting to just matter. And in the end, well, he really didn't matter did he? Idk just a cool little detail that ties everything together
@@rubyrock555 he actually did. Except for 2 endings, he literally becomes the most known merc in night city and completely destroys arasaka, along with killing hanako. If that "doesnt matter" then thats weird
There is so much incredible lore for the creators to work with, I can't wait to see what's next in night city. Edgerunners was an incredible addition to the world, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Im not even a fan of anime, edgerunners was my first, but I'm a sucker for cyberpunk lore.
I love how the entire timeline is basically “what if everyone had horrible international relations skills?”
The world but every nation is ran by teenager
So what you are saying is that Cyberpunk lore is just a casual hoi4 session ?
Everyone in the game throws one liners at each other like it's a comic book, so I guess global tensions are always high when everyone is edgy.
Like when you play Risk drunk. And on amphetamines.
wdym? US is kinda in the same ballpark xD
Kinda perfect that both Fallout 3 and Cyberpunk have Pittsburgh be renamed "The Pitt" and be irradiated wastelands. And honestly the footage works here for it.
I just looked it up and I honestly think the video creator got two concepts completely mixed up. The Pit is just an apartment building inhabited by a gang in Cyberpunk
@@chase4086 you won't find it by quick google search, but you can find that information in "NeoTribes" cyberpunk sourcebook. So, the author didn't mix anything up
Lol wrong
@@PPSzB yeah, I wish more of the info was widely available, because it’s absolutely in the Neo-Tribes sourcebook. It’s obviously quite different from what happens in the Fallout universe, but it’s definitely called “The Pitt” in 1994 of Cyberpunk’s universe.
@@AC-hj9tv no I’m right
I'm so happy to see Cyberpunk as a genre being revitalized, and this series specifically is a perfect way to make that happen
It's funny that this genre was so interesting in 1980 and became real in 2000
@Ruvaäk Ildrasil Well yeah, why do you think I'm happy to see it revitalized?
Hope dies when the last memory of the world before goes first. After that it's just "the way things have always been" and until then it's a fantasy world to be avoided. Catch my drift?
@@vincentsavoretti2201 What I meant was that it was seen before as science fiction almost, fantasy as you say. Now it's very real. It's a bit scary that in 20 years fantasy became reality ^^
@@LapseWilL And I'm saying that's exactly why I'm happy it's back
Personally i always found this genre fascinating, but also horrifying at the same time due to how realistic it's becoming, and especially in my case in which i have a phobia of implants, surgeries and cybernetics, yet I'm still playing the game haha
Slight correction is that Falco (driver for Maine and David's crews) survived the events of 76 and has a small text chat with V
Officially he’s dead. Unofficially he survives.
@CevicheGato you mean like he went off the books and faked his death?
@@imstupidforreplyingbut-3203 he means cyberpunk 2077 is technically not canon in the board games lore, wish it was, but it aint unfortunately.
@@danielhogan6255i looked it up it says 2077 is a direct continuation what do you mean
@@CevicheGato any source officially stating he is dead?
Cyberpunk strikes me as the future we're heading into but without the cool cybernetics, at least, not to the same degree.
I wished we gotten the cool cybernetics. Maybe it could’ve possible if some technological regulations didn’t exist.
We may still get the cool cybernetics. Technology just needs to advance enough to invent and improve them along with advancing the internet to what C-2077 has.
If that's the case my best bet is moving out of the USA and moving to Europe
And how corporations are screwing the people and ruining the land
@ducksoup10 war is the mother of invention, or rather nessecisty, which is what drives the development of technology.
1:57:55
Maine didn't actually kill Dorio. She was shot by one of the cops while she was trying to inject Maine with a dose of immunosuppressants.
I think it's purposefully presented in a confusing way in the anime, to make the audience think what Maine's thinking in that moment, confusion on if he'd killed his own lover while he was going psycho.
Damn.
Johnny was never captured by Arasaka. When he encounters Adam Smasher in the building, Smasher shoots him in half. Spider, the netrunner on the crew, slotted a shard that had the soulkiller program on it into Johnnys head before he took his dying breath. The visions we see of Johnny being carted out of the building and interrogated are either memories that were planted in Johnnys head, or they were completely fabricated by Johnny himself in the 50 years he was trapped in Mikoshi trying to make sense of how he could have possibly lost everything. Johnny is a narcissist, and there's tons of examples of him embelishing events throughout the game. Alt herself even tells you that you cant trust the things he tells you. Johnny wanted to believe he was more important than he really was. He was convinced arasaka had taken Alt to get to him when really they didn't give a shit about him. The vision of the tower raid doesn't include Morgan Blackhand because Johnny wants to remember himself as the leader of the raid, and that it was his idea when in reality it was fully funded and supplied for by Militech.
I don’t remember this in the game?
@@vwilhelm5788 it's not stated explicitly. You'd have to be aware of how things actually went down in the tabletop Cyberpunk game and compare. Once you realize it though it becomes so obvious and there's hints literally all throughout the game that what you're seeing/hearing from Johnny isn't all true or how things actually happened.
@@deadanyway3951 so in Cyberpunk 2020 or RED, you can see/read/play/whatever what actually happened to Johnny?
@@mando5803 yeah but its also started within the game that his memories are false and didn't happened stated by Alt but tbh i prefer his pov in my own headcanon
That's really really sad.... :'(
Gotta say, I love the constant jabs at Prince Andrew
Glad someone noticed haha
Looked for the comment, at beginning I was like "hmmmm is this gonna be a theme" was not disappointed
15 minute lecture? Nah.
2 hour long timeline of cyberpunk? hellyeah.
Take that education system!
This is one of the coolest alt-history timelines I've seen. Very realistic (minus the future tech) and compelling
I was jump scared when bro mentioned cybernetics in the 90s.
Right. It's extremely grounded and believable outside of the science fictiony stuff. Just incredible uses of cause and effect with the story telling.
There were a few"just because" situations that left a few things feeling weak.
Small nuclear bomb goes off so the city of newyork immediately goes feral for a long time? And other cities becoming "combat zones"... Just because
And magically all the earthquakes, plagues (ok?),droughts and famine only affected the US... Repeatedly. Like the author's needed to find an inflated over the top reason to keep the US influence to a minimum.
And not sure how Europe can become a power house with all those independent countries disagreeing with each other. The real world EU shows that won't happen.
True. Europe bringing back the USSR just to spite the US is extremely realistic.
@@crushingit5128 It helps to remember that everything needs to be framed in the context of a tabletop game, i imagine things like the combat zones were just so they could make cool combat scenarios.
Small Saburo fun fact: there was a Japanase fighter ace called Saburo Sakai, who went to similar ordeals getting his eye shot out and having to fly to base for hours while passing out from his wounds several times
He is the creator of the pen and paper, which the game is based on
@@Joseph-mh9xdno he isn’t. Mike Pondsmith is the creator of the Pen and Paper cyberpunk game.
Came looking for this comment after hearing that part! Beat me to it.
@@Matt_10203for sure, however he was very much influenced by William Gibsons "Neuromancer"
Another fun thing, there was a Japanese rifle issued in the Imperial Army during WWII called Arisaka 😂
well worth the second watch. you have created a great and interesting 2 hour long lore video
Thank you!! Glad you thought so, really appreciate the view and comment :)
Fantastic, as a lore nerd, couldn’t ask for a better video. Before 2077 didn’t know squat. After playing 2077 became my favorite game and second only to Halo in my favorite lore.
Same only Cyberpunk lore now sits in 3rd for me while Elder scrolls and Destiny lore are in front of it, although Mass Effect lore is right behind it
Absolutely I love how deep the lore is, it goes back miles and even forward a bit. Reminds me of subautia, lore laid out for u before but u get to go back and figure it out
What about Star Wars?
@@Psycholosopher I thought I already replied but it’s not here any more, but I FUCKIN love Star Wars. The lore goes back eons and just has no end. And the entricatness of the light and dark side. And how at the same time it’s plain and simple 😙👌🏿 chefs kiss and the whole reason I’m a nerd

I love Judy’s mission at the dam. I absolutely love sunken architecture and greatly fear it. So it was a thrilling experience.
Big underwater industrial stuff terrifies me.
I was extremely grateful that it wasn't dark and creepy
That’s such a niche fear I love it! hahah glad that it enhanced your experience rather than take away from it :]

The game and anime that has come from this universe are my all time favourites of their respective genres and with your help to explore the wider cyberpunk lore, your youtube series on cyberpunk have become my all time favourite youtube videos.
Amazing work, thanks a lot, choom

I'm glad to see this amazing video back up, it's gone right back to the top of the Lore videos playlist I use for work/sleep. Keep up the great work Wise.
Thank you dude! Really appreciate the kind words :)
I thought I was the only one😅
The Cyberpunk universe is by far my favorite out of any video game I've ever played. Great video, I always enjoy videos diving deep into the lore
Fallout universe is still the GOAT for me
@@YeTism Same man !
Pond smith is genius with world building
This and Half Life
I just think it's amazing that Mike Pondsmith drew incredible believable parallels from our real world and weaved an incredible story and universe from it. Shit, don't know how old some of these ideas are here but the man may as well be a prophet at this point. Just incredible, amazing execution on editing of the lore as well. I loved every second of this video!
Most of what is written in the lore in this video was written from 1988 to 1994. The vast majority. Mostly the 2030-2077 stuff is from 2015 on. So yeah, man was WAY ahead.
It's rather inspiring. If I pay enough attention to the world around me, and develop some writing skill, I too (+ you and anyone) can publish a believable yet plausible Alternate History.
Very happy to see this one back online, I wanted to rewatch it and I could not find it. Google really is the Arasaka of our times
Haha they’re the big bad corpos
They are "burning the library of Alexandria".
This is the Mona Lisa of lore videos.
I cannot overstate how much I appreciate the quality of your lore videos. Visuals, background music, pacing, and your absolutely stellar vocal presentation to top it off--absolutely some of the best out there.
Been lurking on your channel for quite some time now, and I think you finally reaching 100k is absolutely deserved. Congratulations!! 😘😘
Have to say dude, the way you have edited this video, is truly impressive! Literally had me going "oh i know that game/movie/show!" All throughout! Yet you link them up with relevant times dates and places in the cyberpunk timeline. You managed to make it all connect together so well it feels like its footage from cp 2077's universe.. Seriously, well bloody done!
thanks, man! this is a true masterpiece and logical conclusion (as of this point in time) to your massive Cyberpunk series.
it’s really great that you’ve managed to solve all the underlying issues that contributed to the first upload’s handling by YT. this piece deserves to be seen by as broad audience it can possibly reach with no artificial handicaps
Second times the charm! Hopefully this one won’t be hit. Hope you all get to enjoy it this time!!
If TH-cam does, screw them. Honestly
I was halfway through the other one. On my way to work, I went to finish it, and nothing there was big sad. I'm glad it's back. Hopefully, still here in the morning so I can watch it!! Great video. Thanks for all the hard work!!
Thank you for your dedication! TH-cam sucks for this..
I already watched the first upload lol lets go for the second!
When was the first one uploaded?
Honestly, I am a history lover, so learning about stuff in the past and how things came to be and all that is just so interesting. So learning about the most important Cyberpunk history and lore just had me even more invested in the universe than I already was after playing the game
Wow. Thank you for making this. I can't even fathom how much time and effort went into it, but I genuinely enjoyed every moment! 🙏
Truly the cyberpunk world is so lore rich. This world could’ve make logical sense for GTA games to exist.

Wonderful video. Well worth the effort. It was articulated extremely well and seems to have contained everything one would need for a total lore overview for Cyberpunk. Thank you.
Family, this was INCREDIBLE. Thanks for taking the immense amount of time required to flesh out all the written lore into a chronological timeline. Fair play, mate, you successfully chronicled almost 40 years of writing, and just added SO much to my understanding of the Cyberpunk '77 universe.
This was an incredible watch/listen. Thanks for all the effort you put into this. 👏🏻
Thanks for a great overview of the story! It filled a lot of the gaps I had from only playing the game.
By the way, 34:37 it’s CHOOH2, “O” as in oxygen, although such chemical molecule is not possible; not with our current technology, at least.
However, a molecule with one less hydrogen IS possible. CHOOH is a formic acid, a basic carboxylic acid. The name is derived from the acid ants produced. In Latin, formica means an ant.
Also, 56:12 his name is Kim Jong-il, not “the second”.
Formic acid exists only in dimers: (CHOOH)2 so the chemical formula would make physical sense this way. And there are fuel cells IRL that work on formic acid.
This is so in-depth and detailed, thank you so much for making this, quite the ride.
Such a fantastic video, this took me like a week to actually watch and absorb so I can’t imagine how much work went into this. Thanks man, you’re awesome.
As a budding TH-camr focusing on photography and cinematography, I have ridiculously high respect for you for making anything this long. My videos average about 8-9 minutes long and the work that goes into THOSE is a lot. I can’t imagine your workflow and talents to make a damn movie-length video and have it all fit together so well. Superb work!
You know, this video just kind of reinforces how much of a legend V is. Took down multiple gang leaders, adam smasher, dozens of psychos and arasaka elites...
Depending on your build and difficulty, V did it like it was NOTHING too lol.
I'm not a huge lore nerd but I am a huge cyberpunk nerd. Man did this vid scratch a huge itch for me, cause Cyberpunk (the series) has such a crazy and wildly complex background that I can rarely ever scratch the surface of reading the sourcebooks before I need to move on to other things, but it's one of those things I've always wanted to know more about. This must've taken an insane amount of time to put together, kudos and thanks for doing so!
Dude thank u for making this , I've been waiting for a video like this since cyberpunk released
A wonderful recital of the full timeline! I’d probably only be able to recall a few details, as I was driving in my car as I was listening, but it was very entertaining. You also have a great narrating voice!
Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this! ❤I‘ve entered the Cyberpunk universe with the game, and always wondered how this world became what it is in the game.
17:13 Juan's story is basically what happened to David, damn.
I love this Vid, awesome timeline, really good analysis and everything important on spot explained and your timeline builds up from zero to 100
IDK if anyone4 caught this but The Pitt in Pittsburgh is also in fallout as well.
Fallout Wiki:
"The Pitt, nicknamed the Steel City,[1] City of Steel,[2] and the Gateway to the West[2] before the War, is a raider-dominated city built in the ruins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania"
Thanks, I thought I was the only one to get this
He even used modded fallout 3 gameplay when he was talking about it lol
The game and universe does a fantastic job at making you feel like you’re just another member of society rather than the world revolving around you.
As brillant as ever ;) Yet 2 mistakes : Dorio wasn't kill by Maine, but died taking a bullet for him, bullet shot by a NCPD officer (the scene yet might be confusing). from the crew, only Lucy and Falco survived, as David dies covering their flight. Minor points really, in comparaison to the troumendous work done here 🙏
David also might have been hit by soulkiller, the last thing Smasher says to David was "You could prove an interesting construct" I think David's resilience to cyberpsychosis means Arasaka probably wants his engram
@@thomasfitzpatrick8077nah, smasher had a bit of respect and David said he didn’t care about becoming a construct so he killed him off before arasaka could get their mittens on him
slight correction, johnny probably never had a buddy that took bullet for him, more likely he is talking about him old self, that he died so that johnny silverhand could be born and live
1:27:35 A LOT to unpack here. Gonna come back to finish the last hour. Pretty solid lore. Well done.
Thank you WiseFish for your hard work. You definitely deserve many more subscribers and i hope your future is better than the Cyberpunk world.😆
I just finished Cyberpunk 2077 a few days ago. So this video came out at great time. I can't wait to see your videos on the Cyberpunk dlc expansion.
Love the straight-up putting Prince Andrew on blast, sir! Very well done! Great job with the timeline as well! Great video!
That was great man. Kept my attention the entire way. Gonna keep this on the rewatch playlist!
This was incredible. I really enjoyed watching it all the way through. This world is so alive. Even the smallest moment can cause a huge impact. Thank you for making this video.
Just finished edgerunners, this was exactly what i was looking for. Very good writing and ty for the vid :)
Loved it! New to Pondsmiths Cyberpunk, and this was hella informative. True, somemore information confirming certain story points have come out, but this is a great video to get the overall picture of this universe, including when creating npc or role-playing characters. Thank you 👍
I've watched a couple of other timeline breakdowns in the past, and I have to say I think I enjoy your narration the most. I would enjoy listening to you read tax law.
I love your cyberpunk stuff. This is amazing!
Fantastic work. Learnt lots for this video. Thank you🎉

You absolute legend, thank you for making this !!
You know, the cause of the crash of '94 is terrifyingly similar to a certain country. Yes, that country that was recently exposed to have waaay less GDP than what it said to the world. The She Jim Ping land.
What a journey! Props for covering so much ground!
The level of detail in this video is insane. Excellent job
Absolutely brilliant timeline presentation. Literally the only bad thing I can say is the pronunciation of Yorinobu and Takemura Goro sounded like Yarinobu and Guru Tackeemora, which threw me off for a sec but still really appreciate the mammoth effort that went into putting this together. Thank you so much.
cyberpunk lore is that it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse (cool robotic implants)

Small correction: Maine didn't kill Dario, she was shot in the head by MAXTac because she was distracted trying to inject Maine with an immunosuppressant to control his cyberpsychosis. He was indirectly responsible for her death, but he didn't kill her.
A cop not maxtac Dario was already dead before max tac arrived
Masterful narration and editing. This video is simply incredible.
Just starting Cyberpunk 2077 and this was a real eye opener. Thank you for an excellent job!
Absolute brilliant! Thanks!
One thing I'm curious to know more about is how cyberware came to be as prolific as it is; how it all started and how it evolved throughout the timeline.
The main reason i found this video was for that answer specifically
Honestly I think that was thanks to the war, a reason why I think we’ll have similar cybernetics is thanks to the neuralink, with it, it can pair both your brain and a cybernetic arm thus making it part of you.
This actually made the universe make a ton more sense for me. Thank yeh.
You are just simply my favourite content creator. Please keep uploading
Spectacular effort. I really enjoyed and appreciated this.
Just got Cyberpunk last week, and found your channel just yesterday. Too cool, The lore DEF makes the experience much much better. Thank you sir!
What an amazing video... Congratulations, great work. And by the way... Falco also survived ;-)
Me, with a pacemaker and the nickname “robo sis” from my brother: cybernetics seem so distant. So impossibly distant. There’s no way a machine that’s permanently working with your body for health reasons could exist - let alone for combat.
Medical purposes is where it starts. Restoring organ function, new limbs, making the blind see, curing diabetes. After that then we start adding weapons. Your pacemaker in the future could end up becoming Iron-Man's arc reactor, and then you can blast people with repulsor rays if they get too close.
Great job on huge amount of information! Fell asleep 6 times watching through 2 hours but was well worth the scrollbacks.
Cyberpunk's world is the type of sci-fi I could actually see happening. Sure, not to the extreme of using so many nukes, but the economic and most grounded technological aspects, are somewhat believable, especially nowadays with AI progressing and prosthetics getting better, while economic inequality, government corruption, and pollution grows.
Aldecado (the founder), and Richard Nights are probably the only ones I dare to say who are actually good people, while the rest are.. a bit iffy at beat, sociopaths at worse
This video was very informative and well arranged. My favorite part of this video is that it managed to put into a clearer perspective how terrifying Adam Smasher is for ending the lives of a few NC's legends, and how BADASS it is that our V to be able to take him down, while being handicapped by suffering from the Relic's side effect!
Hail V!
This is so well done!! Thank you! Definitely subscribing!
The quality is amazing for a 100k subs channel. You deserve more.
Hopefully this one stays up :). Love your work.
Me too! Thanks for checking it out dude!
It's, like, stupid how detailed the world is in Cyberpunk, and how little of it is utilised. There's so much detail, every square meter of Night City could have several stories to itself. Really hope we get another game, maybe a prequel or something, that capitalises on the potential of the world.
This. I was blown away at the misuse of the nomads and other factions in the game. There's literally infinite stories that could be told in this world, all of them filled with action and intrigued, and they barely even scratched the surface of what this world has to offer with the original story they gave us. The next cyberpunk installment needs to take advantage on all of this rich lore. This could be a very long running video game franchise if done right
Look up cyberpunk 2020. If you have the game on PC navigate to your game files and go to a file called bonus content. Within that there is a folder called source book, it has the original 1986(?) Cyberpunk 2020 Tabletop rule book. May not exactly be what you're asking for but there are games before 2077.
I'm happy you included clips from my two favorite games. Of course Cyberpunk and Mass Effect... that was a nice Easter Egg
Bloody awesome man thanks, smashed the whole thing!
It's back?...ITS BACK!!! 😮 Seriously, great work dude 👏
