I always learn so much from my mistakes and appreciate when others share their own. It provides so much more insight than just showing a perfect result that often comes from having already made the mistakes. Thank you.
I live in Connecticut and three years ago I built a 15' x 3' table top out of concrete using fiber, rebar, etc. Because I have a support in the middle and we go through freeze/thaw cycles I have a hairline crack in the middle, which, though I didn't anticipate it, is perfectly understandable and I don't think anything could be done about it. I will caulk it with a similar color to the gray concrete and repeat this as needed. I did it in early June with warm temperatures but nothing compared to your heat, and I kept a tarp over it. I also troweled it over and over, making the surface very hard, and most importantly, I think, which you didn't address, I wet the surface constantly for two weeks or so and kept a sheet of plastic over it. I think this was key to limiting cracks. I think it is a beautiful option, far less expensive for me than stone as I did the work, and we are getting a lot of use out of it.
Very interesting. I would never recommend the concrete top as there are too many variables. Must have been very stressful. Could granite or alternatives be an easier installation.
I love your videos! You are the very few people who know what you are talking about whether is talking about design or landscape care. By the way, you are the only few that I subscribed since I am very picky about my subs. Keep up the great work!! I love your dog!! what breed is he?
