In this video I'm restoring and resealing a concrete countertop. I'll remove the previous finish and reseal it with a new concrete countertop sealer.
The process for this job was to first lightly grind the concrete countertops and remove the sealer that was originally applied.
I didn't know what kind of sealer was originally used but it ground off pretty easily. After Darin and I removed the sealer, we cleaned the concrete and applied a 2-part polyaspartic top coating to reseal the concrete.
Here's a link to an excellent 2 part epoxy top coat for concrete countertops. The top coat we used in the video isn't available anymore.

Hey Mike, the link for the sealer doesn't work. Do you know the name of it? Thanks

Hey Mike I watch all your videos and I think you're awesome at explaining yourself. I've learnt so much from you over the years. I own my own concrete company specializing in flat work. recently I had a pour and just as I was about finished the weather took a really bad turn. it started to rain like crazy. I squeegeed off the cream and tried to hit it over and over with the power trowel, before feeling defeated I covered it with 6mil poly and let the storm do its thing. I returned in the morning to see if the power trowel could work it in. now every time this slab is swept with a broom., dust continues to come out of the slab. the mix was supposed to be 32mpa it appears the ticket said 32-c2 which is an indication there is air in the concrete. it has some delaminations. at this point I don't know what my best solution is to making this right for my customer

Great video, thanks for the thorough explanation! We have a concrete counter with a concrete sink in it, would the refinish process be the same for it? I find the water in the sink really wears the finish of the concrete away.

Hi there! Thank you so much for this helpful video! Just wondering what kind of seal you use? I don’t see the product in the comments. Thank you so much!

How does this sealer do with liquids. The food grade sealer we used from zbar kit last year flaked off with any liquid contact.

Aside from removing the sealer if there are some areas that are pitted and dark. Will grinding it with the diamond pad will that smooth it out. It is high use areas.

Do you recommend the same sealer for an outdoor kitchen? The counters are covered under a pool house, but still subjected to the elements (a little).

What if the countertop was poured upside down?
    Does that make a difference?

What is the maximum humidity/moisture percentage allowable to be in the existing basement floor before sealing??? We get water in the basement of one of our rental properties. We have soaked up all the standing water, and rented a dehumidifier and the current % varies throughout the basement from 50-60%. Is it safe to apply a sealer now? Which sealer will be best for the fully poured concrete basement floor in the later 1940s. Another video you said use the pump sprayer and spray the floor walls with water and then immediately apply the sealer. Assuming you meant from dry so then only the surface is now wet and the rest is dry behind the water he just applied. Im dealing with a wet basement 50-65% plz help 😢

Could you make the concrete black after you removed the old sealer in that particular situation ?

No offense to you....I love concrete, but i wouldn't want it in my house, for this reason. Geez, what a mess. Forget about it.
