I don’t remember these races at all, and likely for good reason. I’d like to see a video on the old pit only for fuel or tires rule in the truck series from 15 years ago, I’d bet a lot if people forgot about that ordeal.
I had, in fact, pretty much completely forgotten about this format, even though I do remember watching some of these races. There were 2 or 3 years in a row where the Brickyard weekend coincided with my family's beach trip, and we would get the Xfinity race going on the TV while we were still in the process of bringing our stuff up to the condo.
At least heat racing made sense. Every stock car short track in America and various series aside from NASCAR uses heat races. Not to mention that heat races don't effect the outcome of the main race; ya know, unlike stage racing.
1:05 that's the beauty of the caution clock, Joe. If you don't need it because natural cautions are coming out, it never comes out. If you DO need it, then it's there to get the cars bunched back up in a predictable way. No idea why you prefer the "always have a caution no matter what" stage breaks over the chad caution clock. The former has way more stupid moments of "let's race 2 or 3 laps then go back to caution for the end of the stage", something the caution clock cannot have.
Hate stage racing. It ruins a lot of the strategy throughout the entire race. They can do stage points and all of that just don’t have to have a caution at the end of all of them just keep going
Video Idea: Just live the "Were they as bad as we think" series, you should make a verison with current drivers that are in the top 3 series that are considered bad right now like a Daniel Dye or Riley Herbst
I think what gets me about Nascar fans is how many people complained about how boring the 1st half of many races were(especially superspeedways) and how predictable road course races were, but then when Nascar did something to fix it, people complained that something changed.....
NASCAR fans are great at complaining. Don’t get me wrong I will complain about the single race championship (make it three and I’ll be fine) but nascar fans can be so negative and whiny sometimes. Then you got all of the people that say “ I haven’t watched a race in 10 years, all the drivers nowadays are boring.” Well how would you know if you haven’t watched it?!
NASCAR could get rid of the stage cautions like many want, until we have a race that ends with 8 cars on the lead lap and they’ll complain about the low number of cars left on the lead lap.
I’m good with 8 cars on the lead lap if they are the fastest ones and that’s how it ends up but I get casual fans don’t like that. Just hate the gimmick stuff in nascar now days it makes it feel cheap. And to me it makes wheel to wheel racing less special when it is set up instead of happening naturally. And I have a huge issue with the points system. You can win 35 races in a row and lose the title on the last race to someone who doesn’t even have a good season just a. Couple ok races at the right time. Stupid
That's because the racing sucks right now. No full fields hardly ever anymore. If there's a race that finishes with like only 8 cars on the lead lap so be it.
@@alanluscombe8a553 I always hear people have this same issue with the points system (where you can win 35 and lose 1), but I figure if the biggest issue people have is something that has never happened and will likely never happen, is it really an issue?
It's so cheesy. Just another thing to take away the legitimacy of nascar as a racing series. It's more of an entertainment show now instead of a real competition.
that bristol finish is so funny to listen to
haha yeah it's so bad i really couldn't just ignore it
Crazy how much misplacing 1 letter can change everything
@@dr.b0973 it's also funny how he took the L from flag and put it in payday somehow
My bi side finds it so hilarious

these races were weird then and weird now lol
3:53 This is SO cursed... What did they do to my boy Allgaier!?
They turned him into Jeffrey Earnhardt!

Wow you just jogged my memory on that rule. Completely forgot about that one
I remember that crap
More like 25+ years ago.

He didn’t say fat, he said something that had a g at the end of the word lol

100%. You want to reward drivers for running up front all race? Fine. Don’t stop the race
This is true for Ovals (and really it doesn't ruin it, it just changes it), but for Road Courses it's the opposite, it adds a lot more strategy to it.
6:55 checkered WHAT
The skid marks at @10:46 made me think my screen was cracked 😅😂
Stage racing killed my love and i havent watched a race since.
Heats were so stupid.

Lucky Dog is one of the worst rules ever.
Stage racing has ruined the pit strategy.

Heat races are way better than this joke we call stage racing
Similar problems to f1's sprint races
Minor spelling error 🤓
The worst version of dash for cash.
I love Heat Races tbf it should be The Qualifying Format for Short Tracks at All 3 Series, also I hate Stages and Stage Racing its Stupid
Completely agree 👍
