A History of NASCAR's Longest and Most Chaotic Overtimes

- In my opinion, NASCAR overtime has been a positive addition to the sport overall, allowing for races to almost always end under the green flag and even creating many all time classic finishes. But on the down side, if the field keeps wrecking, overtime keeps on going and over the years there have been quite a few long and chaotic overtimes that have left fans wishing the race would just end under caution. These long, chaotic, and sometimes controversial overtimes will be the topic of this video.

Ages like fine wine.🍷 5 overtimes for Nashville.
Just about to say that
timing of an absolute legend
I love how this video doesn’t just say “i hate long overtimes” it’s about “how you hate them” in which most people agree with
Oh how convenient the timing of this video is
The timing to this video is incredible. Aged like wine 🍷
Who’s here after the Nashville race
Well we have a new entry at Nashville lol
How ironic I see this after the Nashville race 😂😂
Nashville today.... perfect timing.
Might have to add Nashville 2024
Appreciating the fact that this video was posted the week before Nashville’s 5 overtimes
No one ever talks about how Martin Truex jr was about to take the white flag and potentially win his first superspeedway race in the summer Daytona race in 2018, but a caution came out right before he got to the white flag.
CJ Fast Foot said an interesting think about the att, also EVERY TIME, NASCAR decide to change the GWC-OT rule ended in controversial.
I swear the guy responsible for pressing the caution button would have the fastest hand in the wild west
Counterpoint: 2022
Wtf was I looking at in the truck highlights at Phoenix? They spend more time per lap off track than on it!
There have been many more chaotic and hard-to-watch overtimes throughout Nascar history. Let me know your favorites in the comments
Edit: wow this video is outdated after one week lol. First the Nashville truck race outdated my “leading every lap” video now the cup race has outdated this one 😂😂
@@racingwithjoe 2023 Daytona 500 was painful
2023 COTA
You can't out legislate stupidity and carelessness, stupidity on the case of the officials for not thinking their rule changes through, and carelessness by the drivers thinking that driving 10 feet over their head in the last 1/6th of the race is fine.
Reason for the 2010 change was that year's Bud Shootout ending before the field took the white. Also I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the 2017 Brickyard wreck fest where NASCAR just stopped giving a fuck and ignored accidents on the last restart just so they'd get to the line and end the affair
Great timing
There was also te 4 overtime attempts in I believe in the 2022 Knoxville race.
You’re right, that one could definitely have been included. What a dumpster fire that was 😂
Well, you have another one to add to the list XD
Wild how Nashville broke the record right after this video!
Just found your channel I have a lot catching up. I love Nascar and everything that comes with it.
Perfect timing
The fact NASCAR has made two changes for Dale Jr, proves there are favorites
the favorites are the FANS. People don't seem to get that. If 40 percent of your fanbase roots for the same driver you are damn well delusional if you don't think they'll try to right any wrongs they receive.
well well well
Hey man this video was great you should have more subs 🔥
I appreciate it!
You totally forgot about the absolute dumpster fire the Indy 2016 cup race was!!! But great video over all love it!
I consider myself a diehard so I would do away with this embarrassing rule, but NASCAR would never. So I gotta at least vouch for the 1 attempt only restarts
I think NASCAR should do 3 attempts for overtime
I think they should do none
No just keep going they’ll figure it out. Now for trucks and xfinity sure. Or do 2 and if they still can’t figure it out do single file for the 3rd
I like over time it’s nice to see it end under green and it’s tense some times I love a good long green race but some times when it happens in cup it’s entertaining
Thanks to Joey Logano and NASCAR incompetence we have unlimited atts, due to that finish of 2015 Talladega race
Like the green white checkered finish 3 attempts
If they only did one attempt like they did in whatever year it was the Nashville race would’ve ended after Chastain’s crash. Probably one attempt on the super speedways and 3 on every other track.
well then
Just subbed
Well...the video is now outdated hahahahaha thanks to Cindric spining and the armageddon at Nashville
Rick Crawford reference 😬
Yeah whenever there’s a *bad driver* I have to mention, I just pretend like I’m calling it from the year the race clip is in
@@racingwithjoeCrawford is a morally bankrupt sicko.
TIME TO UPDATE
All over time is a two lap dash for the cash and trophy,,the closest finish is because of it!! I don't mind it as a fan as a racer I'd be very upset!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Ryan Blaney should have not won that race. Should have had to put to put it up. By rule he did not win the race and Denny should have won. Ryan will always have a check mark saying it was gifted not matter what you say he should have been penalized
