    That was an excellent video. The idea that you thought to cover a gas container is awesome. This was just what I needed. You're far superior to the instructions. Thank you

    2:15 it's not a filter, it's a flame arrestor.

    Stupid question, sir....im assiming you have to store the filled gas can with the spout contraption exposed, not inside the tank. I just bought a metal gas can at harbor frieght and the "naughty bits," so to speak, hide away nicely inside the can.

    Obviously those responding to indicate that this is a brilliant design are big burly guys with amazing wrist strength as opposed to a 5'10" 180 lb average guy. Without a rear handle this is almost impossible to manage. One hand is required to push in and hold down the awkward button, while the other must lift a full can (35 lbs) and tilt using the wrist strength only. I would not recommend. BTW Jimmy isn't demonstrating with a full can.

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right Drake. I still use this can a lot - it’s best when you rest the lip of the can on something and then push the button in to release the fuel. The design could definitely be better. Thank you for watching 🇺🇸🤘

    see how you are holding the can from the bottom? there should be a handle on the back

    The mesh on the inside of the spout is actually a flame arrestor. The old metal cans you had to rip them out or it would spill fuel when you tried to fill it!

  • @BeefNEggs057
    @BeefNEggs057 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You tried pushing and holding that button with one hand and pour 5 gallons with one hand. Fucking impossible.

  • @truthmatters9594
    @truthmatters9594 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    There is no air vent so it does not pour smoothly--- ALL the new style gas cans are hard to use---

  • @gaijinbear8949
    @gaijinbear8949 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thats not a filter in the throat of the tank. Its a fire suppression device.

  • @johnny1556
    @johnny1556 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Looks like a great gas can, Jimmy Garage do the filter comes out so you could clean the debris you might catch. Also it wouldn't be bad if it had a handle on the back too so you don't have to hug it when you pour it. 👍

  • @danielbrewer7021

    Great Video! The non-locking option is a non-starter for me. I don't want to have to hold that button while humping a 40# gas can with no back handle. Too bad, as they had the start to a great design.

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I agree, it’s not the BEST design in the world. It’s useful for smaller applications, but that rear handle and a locking button would be helpful when pouring a couple gallons at a time.

      @@jimmysgarage9068 True. I guess my bias is that I'd only use it for filling a JD Tractor, hence the hard-to-handle comment.

    Do you have to keep your thumb on the button the whole time, or does it lock down so you can let go and use that hand to help hold the can up, since there's no handle on the back? Like, for instance, when I fill my tractor, I know I'm going to pour in the whole 5 gallons, I would want to hold up that gas can with both hands if I could, and I wouldn't want to keep my thumb down the whole time. Seems like that would get painful!

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn’t a lock option on it. I suppose this is most ideal for pouring a gallon at a time, as 5 gallons could be a little taxing to hold the container for that long.
      It does flow rather quickly though!

    Anyone manage to find a non-safety spout that fits this thing? The ones i've tried won't thread on. I was going to try removing the threaded ring and using it with another spout, but damned if i can figure out how they got it on there in the first place. I think it was just born that way.

  • @iandtexarkana4549

    This thing needs a handle in the rear, otherwise, it's hard to lift and pour with 25 lbs of weighted pressure on the wrist. I don't recommend it

    • @jimmysgarage9068
      @jimmysgarage9068  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a little tricky without the rear handle. I do like that it’s a thinner tank though.

    That is not a filter it is a flame arrester. Also it is hard for us weak people to push that damn button down. If it was a filter if you got any trash in it, It would come right back into your pour!!! I drilled a hole to put a nail to hold the button down while I am pouring!! Otherwise it would be usless!!😛😛😛😛
