I bought 8 of these steel gas containers to replace my plastic ones and put of the 8 cans 3 got holes in them in the center of them. I can tell you that they do rust though fairly easily. Now I’m changing them out again to the plastic cans the VP racing fuel jugs.

Not good! Being that I just bought this can, I'm hoping that doesn't happen anytime soon. Time will tell. I thought about VP racing jugs...let me know what you think of them.

I was about to purchase a couple VP jugs before looking into jerrycans. I think I’ll just get the VP’s. There a thicker plastic and easy pour..$70 for 2 with 1 spout in red online Walmart.

Let me know what you think of them. Some have said their plastics aren't what they used to be, brittle. That's the only reason I didn't go with them over the jerry can.

You might consider a small portable battery operated transfer pump, with a control valve on the end of the hose like at the fuel stations.

That's a great suggestion. I may look into that. Thanks!

@@EightWheelsRollin When you find the one that works really good and doesn't have "cheap ass" plastic hoses, do a review video. Thanks

can the Midwest Jerry Can be stored on their flat side without spilling? I'm thinking of mounting to my roof rack but it sits too high on its base and edges. i rather lay it flat but im worried about leaks

In theory I'd say yes as long as the seals are good, but I don't really know for certain. I've never stored them that way.

@EightWheelsRollin thanks! and i wouldn't store them full time. just when on the go. I'll probably do some testing of my own

I have never liked the new gas cans after I'd say the year 2005 they make make a mess and are predictably hard to use when speed is a factor

Might try not leaving you plastic cans out in the sun. These look abused I have the same cans ten years old still look new. Thx for the suggestion

Hey, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. The cans were definitely used, but not abused as you suggest. They were stored under a lean-to and in a shop their whole life. Maybe my cans lose their color quicker than yours...??

FYI. Everything from Harbor Freight is made in China.

A high percentage yes, all no. I've bought several products from HF that are made in USA. As to this can, it is stamped USA. I don't know if that means made in USA or not? Midwest Can Company, the company that makes this can, is USA owned.
