      @@jsbehucbejizveish displacement on demand it deactivates injectors and spark plugs for a bank of cylinders, also disengages lifters so they can’t open the valves so that one bank of a v8 isn’t ‘running’ so your v8 gets inline 4 like economy. Generally motors that have it don’t hold up as well, I don’t believe c5s have it though.

    Have you entertained or researched the viability of “mass” producing these?
    I’m sure it’s fairly niche, and I’m positive that the system would have to sell for multiples above probably every other exhaust system produced by a major producer.... but my gut tells me a well designed jig set up and a couple of pre machined parts you could reproduce the system you built fairly quickly right?
    I feel like that system would sell no problem in “small” quantities.... it sounds so amazing.
    I saw your statement in the build thread that if a company wanted to copy and pay royalties you’d be open to it.... but I think it may be even more niche than that.... may not be worth it to a big manufacturer but for a smaller scale operation it may be viable if jigs could be set up to save time for a majority of the process.

    Beautiful sounding 180s. Did you cross under the pan or cross over the through cowl? Really curious how you routed them. It sounds like big short companion primary pairs but that is extremely difficult to wrap around the block.

    • @Tinman392
      @Tinman392  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks. They cross under the torque tube just behind the bellhousing. The transmission is rear mounted in C5s which allowed me to make the cross over point at just a tick over optimal primary length.

    • @Tinman392
      @Tinman392  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I fabricated the mufflers myself. 2 1/2" I.D., 5" O.D., 9" long bullet style. But the unique sound is due to the 180 degree headers, www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-tech/3932957-c5-z06-180-degree-header-build-thread.html

      @@Tinman392 hey, I wanted to put 180 headers in my tahoe. Is that possible

    • @Tinman392
      @Tinman392  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_.incredible_magnum._291 Not without major modifications to the truck. In the Corvette, the transmission is in the rear leaving room for the primaries to cross sides where the transmission is in almost all other vehicles. The only way to do it in a Tahoe would be to cross them over on top of the bellhousing and transmission requiring a new fire wall and pretty much omitting the front passenger seat.

      @@Tinman392 what if I crossed them underneath? Have the middle pipes go under the oil pan and cross?

    • @Tinman392
      @Tinman392  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_.incredible_magnum._291 That would make it possible but with two major downsides. First, the exhaust heat would radiate up and cause the oil to run way too hot. Second, the primary lengths would be too long for effective scavenging.

    Would you do something like this on someone else's car, let's say a cts v coupe🤔

    • @Tinman392
      @Tinman392  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, the CTS V coupe's transmission position would not allow the clearance for headers such as these. The transmission is in the rear of the C5 which leaves room for the 180 degree crossover just behind the bellhousing where you typically find a transmission.
