Such a beautiful car, so much interesting work! My dad bought a '60 Lark VIII wagon new to replace his '53 Chevy coupe, and had to learn to be delicate with his right foot because it had at least triple the power. Mom's mom bought a '62 Lark sedan (top of the line). So i have been a lifetime Studebaker fan. So cool to see them out & on the road. There are a few parked on driveways near me that need someone to get them running again (including an early Commander with the tacked on quad-headlight pods & a sweet '62 Lark VIII wagon), unfortunately I am not that person, no matter how hard I may dream. Best to you & your beautiful coupe. May your break-in miles be trouble-free, your daily-driving sooth, and here's to some good fast passes when you can drag it.

So far going for a long street drive, the oil temps get to about 205, 210 if I'm getting on the throttle a lot. You want oil temp to be around 212 to bake the water out of it. Oil won't break down until 275.

After awhile away from the phone the Holley tech said VVT would work fine and the only hang up would be switching away from the stock coils to Holley smart coils. So now I'm hearing different on the VVT and have bought and done the smart coils for what? Am I loosing much without the exhaust VVT or can I pin the VVT half way though it's travel am tune it "AS IS"? Another thought had crossed my mind as well.....stock injectors don't show up in V3 software as a part number. Is there a good way to fudge this on Holley?

I seem to remember before calvin used the vvti solenoid that you can clock the cam gears to add in 6. Something degrees of overlap per tooth. So I would try that first. Might need the 4200 guru to chime in and correct me though.

The sound reminds me of the 5.2L Voodoo V8 in the Mustang GT350s, though that one is an actual flat plane not a 180 header on a cross plane, but the sound is still quite similar.

Yep. That's kind of what I was after. Flat plane...

Ok, In a previous vid I said I didn't like the sound of 180 degree headers as opposed to the more normal type. Starting up the Lark and revving it has made a liar of me.
