Showcase is designed to challenge the person being interviewed no matter who the person is. If he was left wing they would attack him from the right, if he was right they'd attack him from the left. It's very common in the UK and people in other countries find it fairly hard to understand. The BBC doesn't have a bias, it's legally forbidden. The majority of people criticising the BBC say it actually veers more to the right than anything. This being said, k still don't like the interviewers technique on the question, it's lazy and entrapping and there are tons of other journalists like Andrew Neil that are on the right but still would've given better forumulated questions
@@jaxon19kira I didn't say this segment was right leaning, I was stating the majority of criticism pointed towards the BBC isn't by the right, it's by the left, who view it as a out of touch South England perspective on troubles they're disconnected from. I'm assuming you're not from the UK given you have no idea what you're talking about so I'll make it simple for you. Overall (as an entire company) the BBC is legally banned from having a bias, it physically isn't allowed to cus it's state funded and as soon as state funded media is influenced by the political stance of the current party it's not longer serving the people. You're not allowed to advertise on the BBC hence why they don't NEED a bias because they don't need a target market because it's NON PROFIT. This show is a show which argues the opposite point of the interviewee, it's a model used all the time in the BBC to criticize while not having a direct bias. You get it now? The consequences of the BBC having a bias in the UK would be catastrophic. It would destroy the entire platform and given that it's existed for about 70 years it's safe to say they haven't had any instances of that sort. Why is the concept of a non profit media source so confusing to foreigners Christ
@Pepper Pots how about you actually read the two paragraphs I sent before and you'd know, it shut the last guy up pretty good and I'm not repeating myself
Damn this is like art. The way the man conducting the interview asks questions in such a sneaky way to where it forces the other guy to process the question/ extremely carefully, then respond quickly while making sure that his view is at all times not being misrepresented but also not come off overly defensive. The amount of practice those things probably take
Well spotted. Yes, I like that about JP as well. He dissects someone's sentence, word-by-word, before he answers. All in real-time! One of the greatest defenders of rationality and a very sharp mind. 🙏
Jordan: “If were going to discuss my views we should use my actual words.” I love how he never hesitates to correct someone when they twist his words on something he has said in the past.
0:08 "Why is - insert never said misquote here" 0:45 logic gymnastics leads to this question "then isn't it inevitable"? 0:58 "so you think" question 1:16 "you say" 1:26 "but you say - insert never said misquote here" 2:01 "so you say" JP promptly debunks logic
He later apologized for that. He even stated that he wasn't well educated in the MGTOW. He even explains that the story's he heard from men made him change his mind. Specifically about divorce.
I've literally never seen an interviewer so intent on debate, that he moves on as soon as Jordan responds to find a new angle of attack. Its so disingenuous its stressful to watch. And it's terrifying that this kind of thinking can exist in large public media
Peterson is an expert on what exactly? Expert on addictions- perhaps, and a good one (since he was an addict himself) But does it make him an expert on evolutionary psychology for example, or a climatologist (he made comments on climate change and has been asked an opinion on pretty much everything)? I guess not. Does the journalist need to be an expert in a filed or he needs to be unbiased? Which is more important?
Jordan B. Peterson talks based on research and outcomes. Reality happens to be different from the "ideal situation". You cannot just blame someone only because he's talking in light of the reality. Jordan wins.
Actually, he claims what he is mentioning is based in research and outcomes, but most of it is him twisting what the science says to fit his view, as opposed to the science actually shaping his view. He cherry-picks just like a creationist or anti-vaxxer.
Kaler Putatma He once claimed women would earn less because they work less... but the statistic he quoted was referring to hourly wage. So much on that topic.....
Circular reasoning. I could easily claim something to be "real" therefore I am correct. Why am I correct? Because the things I say are real! So you will have to show that the research you are referring to has substantial support for claims like Jordan's. He typically doesn't even try. He is a poor man's psychologist, and sells "facts" without reason. An appeal to "reality" would work in fields of objectivity, but that isn't a thing. He needs to use reason, not only claim.
Yes, but JP must be breaking some record for volunteering to do it over and over and over for every kind of media in any country and even several interviews per day. What do you expect them to ask - wheat production in Cda., recent pig diseases. crotch injuries in hockey vs baseball???? He is not being forced to do any of those interviews.
Why? Such dialogue demands a reasoned response & also gives the target an opportunity to clarify his positions - which, is usually the reason he volunteered to any interview. This is discourse.
A Public Forum for Discussion JP spews word salad so getting him to clarify what he means is essential. Also if you watch other debates he has taken part in he is just as guilty of using the "so what you're saying" response.
A man can be masculine without being misogynist. I don't understand what the moderator is trying to say. Why can't women and men be treated equally while acknowledge that women and men, in general terms, think differently.
But, he may just be asking general questions, but it sounds as if he has already decided how he feels and how Jordan Petersen feels about these issues. Why can't both men be right and wrong about equality of the sexes? I am concerned that everyone keeps bringing up gender break downs when it comes to employment participation when explaining why women and men can't be treated equally. So, what if women dominate areas of healthcare, service related industries and education, while men dominate areas of construction and most trades. Why does where women work matter when it comes to treating women decently? From Peterson, I get the sense that he's not saying it's good or bad. It's just different. I don't see what the big deal is. Men and women are different, generally speaking. But, that doesn't give men the right to treat women like second class citizens, either treating us as if we are property meant to be conquered (and I mean in a general sense, not a literal sense) Or we are expected to be superwomen and supermoms. Men can't seem to decide if we are helpless or we are omni present modern day Mata Haris and Amazonians. Forgive me for stepping up onto my soap box. You may be right that the moderator is asking general questions, but I still can tell he thinks Jordan Peterson is completely batshit wrong.
Women and men cannot be treated equally because society exploits men and women differently, because women are hypergamous, and if women did everything men did eventually the human race would die out.
Hi! I'm a feminist and I 100% agree that men and women think differently. I think what the moderator is trying to say is that when Jordan Peterson is saying there's an attack on masculinity, that he is wrong because the actual attak is of misogyny.
If you're going to interview someone, INTERVIEW him. Don't invite him on for the sole purpose of attacking of him. If you're going to complain about being cut off, don't cut him off repeatedly throughout the interview. If you're going to ask for his opinion, let him express it instead of interrupting and then trying to impose your views.

It's all ego from feminists who refuse to let men help because in their delusional lives they believe "Woman can be just as strong as men", this is unfortunately the narrative of modern society and why men are not appreciated currently for their contribution to society and why men feel useless and suicidal. I have never in my life seen women refusing help from a man in lifting a heavy object and then regretting it, and I spent a year in construction and do a fair amount of physical labor in my life. Usually men are too eager to rush in and offer to lift something for me, when I can in fact do it myself. I politely decline and move on with no problem because I actually like lifting things and accomplishing something myself. The full interview is on TH-cam elsewhere, although, in my opinion, it doesn't cover the BBC interviewer, Stephen Sackur, in glory. Maybe the BBC consider this part the best bit. Paraphrasing the full interview at on point the interviewer states, 'so you base your argument on lobsters for the difference between the genders?' I haven't read any Peterson, but as an academic, I suspect there's more to his argument than that. Indeed, he did refer to other research in the interview. The interviewer was simply employing a straw man argument. At that point I would've stood up and walked out, but then persistence is an admirable trait.
Amen to JP......I have 4 boys and I've seen that first hand. Started at school with teachers treating them as defective girls. Also, everyone has an idea of what success looks like.....regardless of male or female.
The reason a lot of men might seem resentful is because we’re all having toxic feminism shoved down our throats. Equality is not gained by forcing people in/out of their positions. Men and women are simply not equal, you can’t argue against that. I don’t agree with being resentful either, but when injustices are being served, I think it’s a valid response.
How do people still not get this? He is not the bad guy trying to oppress women. He's the good guy trying to say equal opportunity for everyone is the best way forward for everyone.

Great points my man, and congratulations on having a girl! The male and female temperaments are so symbiotic. One is protective, one is supportive. Neither is better than the other. They benefit each other so much. Even the Christian scriptures profess these views, despite some people claiming religion is sexist. "Submit yourselves to one another. Wives, submit to your husbands. Husbands, cherish your wives. Men ought to love their wives as their own bodies." (Ephesians 5) None of this is to say there aren't exceptions to these generalizations, but they're generalizations for a reason--they're general.

It’s good to hear an authority figure say the same things that I have been saying for years. He’s absolutely right that there needs to be equality of opportunity but to pretend that women and men are the same is absolutely ridiculous. We are different in so many ways. The idea that one is better than the other is what leads to the trouble, regardless of which one is chosen. There is a great deal of hostility toward masculinity. I believe the significant part of it is because the feminist movement has refused to decry the man haters in their movement, thus passively encouraging the idea that women are inherently superior to men. Another major factor in the rise of the concept of feminine superiority is that many men, support this absurd idea in order to curry women’s favor. Robert Bly called these men “double agents”.

JP killed this interview.
Hey BBC, your bias is showing.
@@ImK4Os if you think the BBC is right leaning you just lack common sense and analysis skills. It is very left biased... Very....

Peterson is an expert on what exactly? Expert on addictions- perhaps, and a good one (since he was an addict himself)
But does it make him an expert on evolutionary psychology for example, or a climatologist (he made comments on climate change and has been asked an opinion on pretty much everything)? I guess not.
Does the journalist need to be an expert in a filed or he needs to be unbiased? Which is more important?
Jordan B. Peterson talks based on research and outcomes. Reality happens to be different from the "ideal situation". You cannot just blame someone only because he's talking in light of the reality. Jordan wins.
Actually, he claims what he is mentioning is based in research and outcomes, but most of it is him twisting what the science says to fit his view, as opposed to the science actually shaping his view. He cherry-picks just like a creationist or anti-vaxxer.
Kaler Putatma
He once claimed women would earn less because they work less... but the statistic he quoted was referring to hourly wage.
Brother Ares now what should be the "ideal situation" that's a different conversation.
Jordan Peterson routinely bends the facts to fit his opinions. He may be a decent psychologist but he's a third-rate thinker.
This whole interview is one of my favorites. Jordan dismantles the interviewer throughout the interview in a calm and dark manner.
So what you're saying is... So you mean that.... So you would say....According to you......
Teddy Tretyakov-badkov I expect them to ask questions not put words in his mouth
Why? Such dialogue demands a reasoned response & also gives the target an opportunity to clarify his positions - which, is usually the reason he volunteered to any interview. This is discourse.
so your saying the interviewers questions were not clear
A Public Forum for Discussion JP spews word salad so getting him to clarify what he means is essential. Also if you watch other debates he has taken part in he is just as guilty of using the "so what you're saying" response.
This entire interview is simply
“you say -”
“no I don't.”
“ok, you have said -”
“no I haven't”
Putting words in his mouth. Terrible journalism
You should see when Cathy interviewed JP. That's this interview dialed up to eleven.

Thank you. Now, can you explain it to me? Ha ha ha ha. Just a lame attempt at humor.
It's more like people can't acknowledge that men and women have a lot in common.

One thing I have learnt about men over the years is that they still have that warrior, Hunter-gather spirit within them, they need to feel useful, the need to have goals and purpose!

Great points my man, and congratulations on having a girl! The male and female temperaments are so symbiotic. One is protective, one is supportive. Neither is better than the other. The interviewer kept quoting Peterson and the quotes simply weren't true. It's not about unliking questions - rather the questions be based in reality and not the use of false statements.
Dean J. W. Ferris I can't see Jordan ever walking out.
JackJames2612 Cutting him off, and misquoting him are horrible interviewing techniques. This guy seems a bit emotionally invested and scatterbrained.
Masculinity is not toxic
Lack of masculinity is
Neither is!
The interviewer is clearly not there to listen to his guest, or to possibly learn anything. He is there to express his own viewpoint only.
Jordan Peterson will go down in history as a hero, standing up for truth and commonsense.
Compassion and understanding do not rule out justice. If we cannot hold that possibility in our minds, then we are doomed to an endless cycle of people claiming they are victims in order to justify victimising others. [Brad Hirschfield - You don't have to be wrong for me to be right]
Equality of opportunity not equality of outcomes
I love the fact that he’s says what he speaks. That level of bravery can’t be matched!
lmao what about people who go to war?
@@Maddie-yj5xj They can kill. In civil society they crucify men without weapons, for speaking equal rights for men.
he's a brave hero and protecting men against toxic feminism
He's the cleverest person alive. He actually references scenarios where women are given the same rights as men but the real outcome is different to what everyone expected.
@J E You misread the first post badly.
on this yes, not so much on religion. iirc he claimed that someone of another religion whos lifestyle happened to conform to christian values, isn't that other religion they're actually a christian. (despite the fact that they don't believe in nor worship jesus)
There isn’t equality just go to a family court and see for yourself. Women are given shared responsibility automatically whereas men have to apply for it !!!
Then look at who’s doing the work around here - pop down to the park at 2.30 pm. Then look at the settlements given to women if he lets her live in his house and they have a child
Do men carry a person for 9 months and push it our of their dickholes in extreme pain for 9 hours? Who is more likely to abandon family and children, men. There's your answer
@@TheEnigma-cc6ib BUT IF WOMEN WANT TO RAISE THE CHILD ALONE, WHY TAKE THE MENS MONEY?
God Bless Jordan Peterson, he is a breathe of fresh air in the pollution of the insanity permeating throughout our society.
What a great argument! This just made my day. Both of them putting their points forward politely instead of just yelling in each other's faces. More people should learn about this
Peterson's interviewers show we are constantly reminded to read stuff more carefully.
Unbelievable logical answers given to stupid questions, this guy deserves a medal
The only voice who acknowledges us as humans 🥺. God bless him ❤️
This is the male interviewer version of “so you’re saying that”
*JB Peterson has the balls to say these things that no one is willing to say*
“If you are going to discuss my views you should use my actual words.” what a phrase spot on,
Its amazing how much time he spends having to correct people misrepresenting him.
This man is the definition of wisdom
No, he's not. You only like him cause of confirmation bias.
It never ceases to amaze me how Dr.Peterson can respond so fast. He never attacks a straw man and will not suffer such attacks.
I agree with what you said 💯
This insanity and attack on masculinity has to stop
I love how gives solid arguments its so refreshing to see someone stand up and say no more and say this has gone to far it almost felt case was hopless that we didn't matter
So in Norway they have passed legislation that means there has to be women on a board, regardless of if there is a man who might be more experienced, better qualified and better suited to a job? What a lesson to teach our children.
Same thing happened to my grandfather who has a business, he has to hire a certain amount of women .Even if he knows a man who is better qualified and could do the job better. he can not hire him.
so now there is a woman working there for no other reason than being a woman
yeah that is really "empowering"
I have said this a million times and I will keep saying this feminism doesn't want equality
it's privilege what they want
@@giovannaroma9527 You are absolutley right, and it will ultimately lead to real equality being lost to a whole generation as the push back wil be huge. But unless we can some how get across equality of opportunity and NOT equality of out come is the right course we will all suffer. I feel for your grandfather it must be hugely frustrating to have to employ someone not on merit but on gender, when he wants his business to florish by having the best of the best. Its counter-intuitive and is almost state condoned economic sabotage.
@@nicksmith9371 At this point discrimination against women is sexist and wrong
But discrimination against men is equal opportunity.
If feminism was about equality it would be called equalism not FEMinism unfortunately it's spreading all over the planet like Covid19.Only there will not be a vaccine for this virus lol.
Stay safe😷✌
@@giovannaroma9527 Agreed!! You too.
Why does Jordan bother doing these interviews anymore. Every time i watch one of these is like watching a University professor trying to explain the math behind the Super String Theory to a third grader who thinks all there is to math is 1+1=2.
BBC got owned by Jordan!
Life is short BBC always gets owned is a fact.
It's not hard when the interviewer has the brain power of a potato battery
@@lolihitler4198 hey now, some of my best friends are potato heads...
what is this whole interview and where do i find it?
"I believe in equality of oppertunity not equality of outcomes" That's such a beautiful and meaningful word. Everyone can have the oppertunity to contribute to something but not everyone will get same reward from it. It will completely depend on how much you contribute to the cause but feminism always wants to deny that and wants the same end result and same reward regardless of the contribution. That's why he said it harmful to society.

If we are going to discuss my views then we should use my actual words 😂😂👏🏼
Where's the full interview?
Stephen Sackur is a poor listener and weak thinker. He obviously is no match for Peterson’s sound reason and cogent arguments. The BBC really has gone downhill.
What a pleasure is to listen to an inteligent and reasoning person. Way to go Dr!
Amazing how many times this interviewer mistook what Peterson was saying and tried to trap him with false premises. Unbelievable! They should fire that guy!
If the BBC did that, they will cease to exist.Because their journalists suck.
@@tysonmichael2816 Fine by me.
I didn't understand a single word, but I feel like the guy being interviewed is obliterating the questions
Males and females are like apples and oranges.
Feminism is trying to make apples be like oranges and vice versa. No... just stop.
Feminism is about making sure women receive equal right and opportunities as men. The rest is your own biased opinoun. The internet and tv is full of toxic feminists and toxic mgtow but the real ones aren't as invested in that. Why is it that the toxic ones are used to represent all of us? There is nothing wrong with being a feminist, straight up
@@TheEnigma-cc6ib biased? My comment was as objective as it comes. My point is rather each gender has their own societal challenges and benefits and that to simply "equalise" them is an overly simplified solution to a complicated issue. I work in healthcare where females managers outnumber male managers many times over, if I'm a male version of a feminist I'd say we need equal male representation.
Where please can I watch the full interview ?
Can tell he's the smartest person in most rooms
