@@kenbulut-oe8sb He doesn't really answer her question on why women (and some girls when married from a young age) have historically taken the husband's surname...This is an important question and really does explain the transference of the notion of 'ownership' of males over females in many ways; although some could argue it's a transference of 'responsibility to provide and protect' rather than 'ownership' as such. However, this concept of provide and protect obviously hasn't been the scenario for countless teenage girls and women who have found themselves trapped - physically and economically - in violent and abusive marriages without any financial means out. He avoids this question by saying he doesn't really know, which seems a bit of a cop out as it should really be a topic/fact (as in the factual evidence of women historically taking their husband's surname) one would expect him to have reflected on more... Also her comment on property rights - obviously many men as well as all women didn't have access to property ownership and certain associated rights (including enfranchisement) for a long time (in post-agricultural revolution and industrialised societies, at least), yet certain socio-economic groups of men did achieve enfranchisement and certain ownership legal rights prior to women (including access to mortgage as well as property ownership) - surely this can't be ignored as a form of historical dominance and control of one sex over the other?

I love how passionate he is about the topics he feels strongly about. The things he says about equality of opportunity vs outcome is very important especially with the social and political climate we live in. He was so correct about what he said regarding how people captured by ideology are so predicable and lack nuance in that they could have replaced her with another liberal woman and it wouldn’t have made much as a difference because their ideology overtakes their personalities. If it's dominated by women is it a tyrannical patriarchy? [Jordan, she already corrected you on that, dominated by women is a matriarchy. JP pulls a Cathy Newman, so you are saying If it's dominated by women is it a tyrannical patriarchy? You don't regard the West as patriarchy, but you regard the medical field as a patriarchy? What about in the Rubin/Anderson interview when you said the West is an oppresive patriarchy but not purely that? So which is it? If you say its an oppressive patriarchy you are saying it is unidimensional, purely that, or that it is an oppressive patriarchy but not purely that?]

1:41:56 How would you like to be remembered?
    "As someone honest"
At the very beginning, I watched the wrong videos about you. I bought into the societal lies about your intentions. You were condemned without a trial, I had firm opinions without understanding them.
Today, you are in every way the first and only one I can think of, who has managed to turn me 180 degrees! You have stood strong and bravely against being labeled as a hate figure, against prejudice, manipulative attempts to smear you, as a misogynist, as public enemy number 1 in the most totally unjustified way I would have never coped with. The most important thing you have taught me is to be completely honest, with myself.
So rest assured, Dr. Peterson: You will be remembered as one of the most honest things the world can remember and stood upright against the injustice against you. All respect!

the hierarchies of capitalism are pyramid /\ shaped, while
every natural hierarchy of competence is a bell curve, with few at the top and bottom and the majority in the MIDDLE.
/\ pyramid hierarchies are artificial and integral to capitalism/profit, there has to be a very large base in a capitalist hierarchy in order for profit to be generated, profit is not possible in a natural bell curve hierarchy.

@@bomination. So, not just a few, but _very_ few at the top? Distinguishing between continents is essential, as there's certainly no lack of people at the bottom of the hierarchy. No model is entirely right or wrong in absolute terms anyway, even if they surely offer interesting perspectives from an analytical and socio-historical standpoint.
Nevertheless, I don't see that transitioning from one model to another would have significantly changed the current situation regarding the alleged patriarchy. It wouldn't alter the current reality, our experiences, news, statistics, or the discourse and silence in our society - a society we have a more solid basis to speak clearly about.
In short, I see nothing here that undermines Jordan Peterson's arguments or credibility.

He just admits it and says but don't just look at the bad guys though. His ability to pinpoint globalist rhetorical obsequious ideological propaganda and counterpoint it with laserlike accuracy is phenomenal to watch, but it’s sad that it needs to be done. It’s sad that these organisations feel the need to fill the public sector with propaganda and socially engineered. Psychologically targeted garbage, it’s screwing up societies, destroying lives and above all, it’s an incredibly dangerous game that’s being played, especially by the intelligence sector who should know better by now!

We are searching for a JP win. No one can find one. At about 43:00 2."I chose lobsters, the reason I made that argument was to put paid to the absurd Marxist proposition that hierarchical structures are a secondary consequence of free market economies which is as preposterous a theory as you could have about anything.'
Helen: 'Lobsters say the thing that you ideologically want to talk about that your belief that there is a kind of Marxist ideology...'
Peterson interrupting: 'How do lobsters say that?'
[Uh what Jordan? You just explained how lobsters demonstrate that. Remember you chose lobsters to put rest to the absurd Marxist proposition, and now you are saying lobsters don't put to rest the absurd proposition? Remembering what you said 2 minutes ago can be super challenging I know.] SCORE: Helen 2, Jordan 0
      3. Helen referring to equality of outcome: 'I don't think that is a widely held view.'
JP Interrupting as usual: 20% of social scientists identify as Marxist. Look it up in Haidt's work, I studied it quite carefully, it is a perfectly valid statistical.
[Heads up JP, in the survey you are referring to, 3% of college professors identify as Marxist, and you claim that universities are dominated by leftist ideology, thus 3% of a very Left leaning sample identify as Marxist... and you are disagreeing with Helen? Whoops. The study Prevalence of Marxism in Academia states that Marxism is 'A tiny minority faith', ie Peterson cited a study to prove Helen wrong, when it actually proved her right. SCORE: Helen 3, Jordan 0]
17:20 Tyranny isn't good, that is the definition of tyranny, something that isn't good. [Uh no Jordan, that isn't the definition of tyranny.]

the hierarchies of capitalism are /\ pyramid shaped, while every natural hierarchy of competence is a bell curve with few at the top and bottom and the MAJORITY in the middle.
/\ pyramid hierarchies are artificial and integral to capitalism/profit, there has to be a very large base in a capitalist hierarchy in order for profit to be generated, profit is not possible in a natural bell curve hierarchy.

The practice of women changing their last names was not about transferring ownership but about transitioning their protection from their father to a new family. As for the bride price, it served as a measure to safeguard the woman. It was typically equivalent to 18 months of wages. The underlying idea was that if a man truly cared for the woman, he would be willing to make a financial sacrifice for her. Consequently, the bride price was meant to be retained in case the man divorced his wife, providing her some security in a world where employment options for women were scarce; thus, both practices were intended for her protection. Today, the concept of a bride price still exists, though it generally involves a smaller sum, typically equivalent to one month of wages, spent on a ring.

She also hasn’t understood his points sometimes by her follow up questions. What a fascinating conversation. Quite intriguing it is to feel the temperature fluctuations throughout their intellectual dance. Additionally, I hold Jordan Peterson in very high regards but he was savage in this conversation with Helen Lewis. The ability of either of these individuals to maintain a professional composure during their debate is an immensely difficult task to do. Both Peterson and Lewis deserve applause for their self-control. If both politicians and society in general, were able to maintain a similar level of self-control and professionalism, perhaps the integration of systems to foster a greater understanding of, and wellbeing for, all parties could be achieved. These two are absolutely amongst the best of us humans.

Both are incredibly articulate and intelligent, but they come from different places and with different perspectives. The conversation that they have gets heated in places and they disagree but in other parts you can see that they respect each other for their own opinions even though they are vastly different.
