I mostly enjoyed the first interview -- of the older lady who has spent a lot of time there -- and is more in tune and knowledgeable about the "feel" of people in the community.
As a long-term, repeat visitor over many years, this person's perspective is very valuable to me and aligns better with my intentions in coming here this year.
I'm looking to establish a "home base" of sorts for longer term stays -- looking to rent a place (bungalow or whatever) for 3-6 months at a time, that I can return to each year. Looking to become more a part of a community than just a tourist passing through.
...the two districts on Samui I'm interested in are Lamai and Maenam.
Been to Maenam a couple times, but never really got to know the community as well as I would like. In Lamai, I've never yet been, but have acquaintances there that can help me get oriented and acquainted.
Great work as always Chai. Top interviews throughout and loads of information. Certainly looking the part in that shirt too champ. 🤩
Hahah thanks mate 😎 it’s not so hard on an island with cool people 😁 have a great one 🏆
Another awesome interview Chai! Love this video ❤ Love Koh Samui….we were there last year 😊
Hi again 😃 it’s such a nice island and a nice size too! Cheers 🏆
Top video Chai. I'm really enjoying your channel and love Thailand with all my heart. Keep up the great work!
Thanks :) I’m glad you enjoyed this one 😊
Excellent video !!!! Samui is just magical , been 5 times going again soon
Glad you enjoyed it! We left already and I love to go back whenever we can :D
Anny from Australia, thankyou chai for sharing her views, she is amazing aunty thank you so much and god bless you and her for sharing this amazing interview❤
Cheers mate. Without Anny this video would be the same :) she’s awesome. Thanks for watching again
Great vlog!!
Thank you!!
Thanks my friend - happy days & and authentic people 👌🙏👍
Authentic people indeed 😍 thanks mate have a good start of the weekend
Great video, as usual, Chai. I plan to visit Koh Samui one day as well.
Haha cheers mate. I hope you manage to get there asap 🏆
TY I need this video!
Haha nice! Thanks for watching
Two thumbs up.👍👍Champ🏆.
2?! Woohoo! Haha thanks :D
Thank you for this lovely video.
You got it mate
@@Chai_Travel Thank you Champ. 😀
This is valuable information for me as I fly out to koh samui on 29th April .
Nice one mate. Have the best time 😃
i spent 6 days on Samui almost 10 Years ago and prefered Lamai as well. Also loved Baan Tai Beach and village or Baan Taling Ngam. Chaweng for me was also to crowded and busy.
I think it´s time to visit Samui again after 10 Years to see what has changed
2:17 The Bangkok Airways monopoly is changing as I am flying to Koh Samui on Scoot Airlines in August.
Hi Chai Travels, tip: take off the backpack when interviewing. With it, it looks like you are in a hurry or something. Would look more relaxed if you would be without it.
Keep it up, loving these interviews!
Thank you :) I see what I can do about that.. thanks for watching
Thumbs up 👍 Champ
Cheers mate 😁 have a good day
Hey Chai! Ben benieuwd wat jij kiest. Phuket of Koh Samui. Goede video’s, leuk om te zien!
Bedankt!
Lekker man! Ja Lamai is nice 😎 Kata is mijn favoriete op Phuket. Laidback redelijk centraal voor als je naar Old Town of Pathong area wilt. Anyway stay in touch 🏆
Check out The Viper Room Rock Pub in Lamai Central side road. One of the oldest bars in lamai and the only Rock/Metal bar on the Island, lots of memerobelia.
Thanks again mate! We left already but we know for next time. There definitely will be a next time :)
What a wires nightmare. I was told the reason for such a mess. It seems more expensive to remove old cables than to leave them in place and set up a new one. Kind of strange.
Cant please everyone….been there many times.👌
Dude brought a plain snack to the buffet 😄
😅
My fav island is koh lanta , i thought koh samui was ok, but i would still go back again
I love how "Westerners" are always mind-blown when they experience food with flavor
Haha
Yes Thai airway surely have monopoly. WE paid $12,000 ( 2 person) Australian for business class to Koh samui. If we were to fly to Phuket it would have cost $8000
That’s a lot more 😫
Hang on to your hats folks.
New PM wants to expand the airport and build a cruise ship port to make more like Phuket.
Start looking for your next location
Always ride your scooter/moto way away from the center of the road !! Many people swerve over the line and you could get nailed in an accident ! Samui has one long ring road around the island and is loaded with traffic. If you don't have exp. riding scooter /moto would not do it here.
555 first she complains about too many people on Samui now, then her message to the world is "please come to Thailand" Alrighty then . Yes unskilled workers such as taxis that depend on tourists are all hungry unless they sign up to drive for the Bolt , Grab, or InDrive apps. etc... Times are changing and relying on tourists is always an up and down life I would think.
Lol
🤓 I don’t think that was complaining mate. She’s nice
Yeah, she is looking out for the thai people.
Yes, I enjoyed her interview the most of all.
I'm looking to establish a "home base" of sorts for longer term stays -- looking to rent a place (bungalow or whatever) for 3-6 months at a time, that I can return to each year. Looking to become more a part of a community than just a tourist passing through.

Interesting tattoos.
Haha very. Such a nice lad 😁
Traffic is dangerous. The most dangerous drivers are young Thai boys/men...they drive insanly fast and almosy touching shoulders when passing you on their scooters.
You have to be 100% concentrated while driving. Any vehicle can cross the road at any time. Westerners are not used to this chaotic traffic without rules. So they end up getting hurt.
Advice...stay off the worst roads. Never ever drive while intoxicated. Wear a helmet. Most importantly...100% concentration...anything can come out in front of you...even dogs...
I think it’s a bit too much to say that the most dangerous men are Thai drivers. The rest I can agree with you
@@Chai_Travel Boys with extra thin wheels on their scooters in Koh Samui drive incredibly fast. Cars are much more dangerous in traffic than scooters for obvious reasons...Very few tourists rent cars.
lol its not hot in samui its never goes above 30 degrees
Next time. What’s your own opinion, the Pro and Cons about Samui… you know the Island also very good. 🙏
Thanks Gert! Good idea thank you. I’ve tried to share my opinions about the island in the previous vlogs. I can give you a summary:
2 biggest pro’s
- close to other islands which are absolutely stunning.
- size, it’s a big island but not so big it loses its island vibes.
2 biggest con’s
- only half the time we were served by Thai people. We didn’t really feel we were in Thailand.
- the airport is owned by an airline company and the prices to fly in and out are very pricey.
Thanks again mate,
Happy Friday
He had to be drunk to have these tattoos until is chin
Nah, I’m pretty sure he had a long thought about it
Bunch of entitled Karen thinking their money is more important then thr native folks
Excuse me?
