🥇Number 1 Beach Area In Thailand, Lamai, Koh Samui 2024

- Let’s check out one of the best beach areas in Thailand. Lamai is a calm yet lively spot on Koh Samui's southeast side. Its sandy beaches are perfect for relaxing and playing in the water. The town mixes old Thai charm with new comforts, busy markets, cozy cafes, and fun bars. At night, Lamai's beach bars get lively with music, making it a fun place for everyone.

Glad you enjoyed :) a lot of things ave changed over time 😊
Chongmon nicest beach
Great video! Thanks for sharing around the Lamai area. :)
Ey mate! Thanks you too for watching. I hope all goes well for you 😃
@@Chai_Travel Cheers mate! Living in Koh Samui for over 2 years and loving it!
Really good look at Lamai my friend - quite well spread out and a beautiful beach - excellent video Mr Chai ✔️👋👌😎👍🙏
Thank you sir 🫡 😁 it’s a nice and lively part of the island:) thanks for watching again 🏆
Really like what I see, great Island, cheers :)
Aw thanks mate 😃 it’s a great place to relax and eat. Groetjes!
Thanks mate
Really great vid of Lamai
Glad you enjoyed it😃 thanks for watching
Beautiful island indeed!
It really is! Thanks for watching
Thank you for this lovely video.
My pleasure Yasin, Happy Tuesday
@@Chai_Travel Happy Tuesday. 😀
Yes champ I am quite enjoying these walk-about videos. A few of them in Cambodia would be super interesting too if they are not too draining from the heat for you to put together. Agree that I love to interact with Thais when visiting shops and food stalls there in Thailand. Its all part of the attraction and I know where you are coming from in that regard. Nice work Chai. Cheers 🍻 🤩
Haha thanks! I think I have to do so as it is crazy hot at the moment. You get me ;) I’m actually going to Myanmar next month so it’s gonna be very interesting to interact with the locals there, especially right now 🫡 stay tuned
@@Chai_Travel Myanmar!! wow, awesome. A google search still reveals Level 4 - do not travel instruction. Stay safe mate and be surrounded with security, borrow Sean King's crash hat and also wear a 'Press' vest. Seriously though, stay safe. 🤩
I don’t know about the press vest as I can imagine they do not allow press to film 😅 I’ll be safe. I promise 🙂
At 4.53 you totally missed the small soi which is the last remaining old road in Lamai, and also some of the oldest western run businesses in Lamai. Good informative video and good that you included South Lamai which nearly every vlogger doesn't do and only sponsor the larger venues and ignore the many smaller bars and restaurants and other businesses
Man, I did miss it! didn’t know of it and thanks for sharing that info 🙂 I always try to mix it up a bit. Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
Thank you mate Chai for sharing an amazing tour of that extraordinary Thai paradise, Koh Samui. I think it has a statue of a Giant Buddha. A destination that must be put on the agenda to visit. ✌
Aaah gotcha! We missed the Giant Buddha on this trip :) good one to add for next time
Thanks Chai, really enjoying your content.
Will definitely be exploring Samui 👍🇦🇺
Always a pleasure mate :D Thanks for watching again
Great video we are staying in Lamai for the second time arrive in 4 weeks, you showed me some parts in the Sth Lamai that I didn't know about
Thank you
That great 😃 I’m excited for your trip. It’s a nice area to stay in 😃 I miss it already haha
Yes went for two weeks last year this year 3 weeks 2 days! The little street you walked down near end of the beach opp Marine Bar there is a lovely sml resort on the left Samui Jasmine only 34 rooms right on the beach.
Very Nice Video with a Good impression of the Island/Beach. 🙏
Thanks Gert! Have a good day
So many places now days have fewer locals and more foreigners and that may make it feel a little less authentic. Noticing it is just an observation and not a sign that you're racist. And as far as the weed goes , I think it's a good thing because if you get high then you'll go into a souvenir shop and start buying up everything because you're stoned and then you get the munchies and start buying lots of food. So, it's good for the local economy. Weed = Money.
Hahah yeah that’s what a lot of people like I can imagine. 🤭
Hi Chai love your channel , the UK has totally transformed here, just saying that about being served by locals would surely be called racist, we even have a law here for thought crimes, cant wait to be back in Thailand time for me to get out , great really enjoyed was there in Lamai 15 years ago totally changed.
Ey Brian, cheers! We live in a crazy world man. Hopefully you’re able to come over soon :) cheers!
Absolutely the best nicest place on earth! 😅🌴🤩🇹🇭
🫥
Nice detailed video chai ,it's a bit relaxing place
Thanks mate! Have a great day 🙂
Thankyou for this informative video because I go in two weeks to lamai and this video helps me
Thanks! I'm glad it helps! Haha your name is very cleaver :P
Nice accommodation!
YOU made it nice ;)
Enjoyed your video. We stay at Lamai, a little older hotels, but everything you need.
Thanks! Yeah they seem to have a lot of them :) haha
Thanks Chai for another Koh Samui video. I’m really looking forward to going to Thailand in July (Bangkok/Chiang Mai/Koh Samui 😊Stay Champ!💪🏆
Exiting times mate. Expect it to be busy but that’s just part of it. Have the best time 😃
@@Chai_Travel Thanks Chai! Looking forward to seeing your Cambodian videos 😀👍
Almost looks like in langkawi👌
Haha yeah a little bit :)
Lived on Samui for 10 months in 2021 , loved staying in many different places all around the Island but i found Lamai to be a bit on the sleazy side
Aah fair enough. Which area was the most suitable for you and why?
@@Chai_Travel I spent at least a month in Bang Po , Ban Tai, Maenam , Bohput , Bangrak , Choengmon and for all the obvious reasons of beach , food , chilled vibes , good people and an all round nice time i loved it.I'm into motorbike riding also so off road up the mountains and down the West & South were great for that but I cut short my stays in Chaweng & Lamai , both great beaches but i found Chaweng to be a bit lacking in quality for the prices and also a bit on the sleaze side when it came to sex tourists and i found lamai to be crawling with sexpats and the workers who service them . I don't go anywhere for that so i choose not to be around it , each to their own of course .
@kennymcalpine8970 thanks for such detailed reply 😁 we went accidentally on an of road trail with a 125click and I can see how much fun we would be able to have on a dirt bike. Yeah I understand that. It will come up as well in the next set of interviews about the area. We avoided the Main Street I’ve showed in this video during the night tbh. Thanks for your input mate 🏆
@@Chai_Travel You're very welcome , i'll look out for your upcoming interviews for sure . All the best
Love the video coffee on me
Mate, that’s super generous of you! I’ll get a few coffees of that 😍 I’m glad you enjoyed it so much 🏆
I've read some news articles about a water shortage crisis in Koh Samui. Any comments on that?
I'd love to know more about this too.
Yes, some hotels are closed
I once traveled to Samui. Stayed at Chawang one day. Hated it and flew back the next day. The most disappointing thing for me was the absence of a beach road and public access to the beach. It was all occupied by Hotels and other businesses. Is Lamai the same?
Ey mate, Im sorry to hear you had such a bad experience 🙏 yeah in a way it’s the same. Though there are a few places where you can lay under the trees which are (I don’t think) owned by anyone. It’s more laidback and it’s not all about selling food, drinks or lounge chairs at Lamai. If you ever think of giving Koh Samui another shot (maybe because you wanna visit the surrounding islands) I’d recommend spending your time at the North West corner or try Lamai which I really like (but by the sounds of it, that might be already too busy for you). Good to hear from you 🏆
@@Chai_Travel Thanks for the detailed answer. I just might do that. It's a big island. I'm sure there's much to discover yet.
Any time Göker. It is indeed :) thanks again mate
More accommodation prices would be nice..
I keep that in mind, Thanks :)
They should reduce flight prices, how possible return from bkk normal over 10.000 baht, crazy! Phuket you can go with airasia 1-2000 baht return
Yeah that’s why we went by bus 😅 it’s a shame the prices are so high
Because Bangkok Airways owns the airport
Thanks for your input
The best beach in samui is silver beach... chrystal bay
I didn't try dr.doner, but wanted too
Döner kebab is so nice 🤤
Hi you still in Samui😊
Hi mate, no I’m currently in Cambodia 😁
Very nice walk and look around Lamai Koh Samui. Sent you an email. Have a question. Stay safe be happy.
Ey mate thanks :) I’ll have a look once I get “home”
Look at you. Are you looking typical Dutch 😂
Born and raised. What do you wanna say?
Born and raised in Bavaria. Even I speak Bavarian, I’m always mistaken for a southern European (Italy, turkey). What I’m trying to say is, no matter what you look like or speak, you can come from anywhere 🌏
Haha yeah that’s true 🤭 I could be South American or Spanish. No one thought I was from anywhere outside of Sri Lanka until I opened my mouth 😂
Definitely not the best beach location in Thailand. Better beaches on Samui
Even it’s pretty busy my favorite is Cristal Bay 🙂
