We're Kristy & Steve, a couple from Melbourne Australia. We created this channel to keep our friends, family and anyone we meet along the way, up to date with our journey around the world! We left our jobs, sold our possessions, rented out our apartment and bought one way tickets to start a new long-term adventure exploring different countries, discovering new cultures and learning new ways of life.

Great video guys, well put together... I live the other side of the main road to where you stayed set back in at the foot of the hills. Badu Indian is my go to local Indian restaurant - love it.

Totally agree that the north area (Mae Nam, Bo Phut) area is vastly superior to the Chaweng/Lamai area - unless you want party central chaos. There’s some fantastic on the beach restaurants around Mae Nam. We’re into our fifth day here, now moved to Choengmon, but should have stayed up around Mae Nam. Anyway we have hired a car for our stay - a total must to get the most out of a Samui holiday. Visited Lipa Noi yesterday, you can park at the end of that road right at the beach! Enjoyed your video, btw sounds like you both have Kiwi accents!?
Agree, a car is an absolute must to get out and explore the rest of the island as it differs quite a lot from area to area. We have been told we sound British or American , never had kiwi though (which is bizarre as its the closest to our actual aussie accents 🤣) .

Is Hua Hinn or Koh Samui the best place to live as a family ?
Not sure to be honest! We would probably choose Hua Hin as a couple though ☺️
My sort of travel…. Will be in my beach front bungalow on Bang Po beach in a week. Car hire is the way to go for me too. On average 60 tourists die in motorbike accidents every month on Ko Samui/Phangan/Tao! (Even experienced riders need to deal with all the newbie’s on the road).

Great vid guys, heading to Samui next month, thinking of hiring a car for a couple of days to explore the island as well. What’s the parking like ? Particularly in the busier areas, any tips? Thanks in advance

Did you guys face any problem after hiring a car, did the local police check for your drivers license? Did they ask for an International driving permit? TIA
Hello! We had zero issues hiring the car. We do have an international driving permit , but never got asked to show it. Didnt get stopped by police either. It was a very easy and convenient process ☺️

Samui was an island paradise 25-30 years ago. Sadly, not so much anymore.

Koh Samui has its vibe but no need to make it look like some sort of unimaginable paradise. Some areas are pretty basic. Bear in mind that the island is not as picturesque as those drone videos and photoshopped photos show. It's ok to go there and stay for a while. It depends on what the one appreciates.
And make sure your wallet is packed with those banknotes. You'll need way more than you think. Watch out for those bike rentals.
Last time I went there during the virus craze and I got a deluxe bungalow in a 5-star place for a mere thousand baht per night.
Koh Phangan is way more picturesque.
Its definitely got some beautiful areas thats for sure. Like most places all over the world, there are less appealing spots (obviously). We don't photoshop ANY of our footage. Lighting, angles and a bright sunny day play a huge part but zero photoshop - we dont even have the software 😂 Koh Phangan is STUNNING!!! We loved it there
