Ohio State fans have lost their minds

  • Ohio State fans (and other fans of prominent college football programs) cannot seem to help themselves. They cannot admit that J.J. McCarthy is a good quarterback, worthy of going high in the impending 2024 NFL draft. So what do they do? They make up narratives that aren't even close to being true. And then what do they do? They tweet at prominent football guys who hand them an L for all the world to see.
    Such was the case for one Ohio State fan who decided to come at ESPN's Louis Riddick with a completely made up narrative about J.J. being inaccurate on the road. Riddick was more than willing to disabuse him of his faulty narrative. We dig into why OSU fans seem to struggle with grasping reality when it comes to McCarthy.
    Then, we discuss Michigan retiring Nick Saban (half-joking) but more so addressing what Saban said about how the Michigan game influenced his departure and why we were able to see the signs all week during Rose Bowl prep. Finally, what ESPN is saying about the Wolverines when it comes to who the starting quarterback will be and more.

      It’s kind of a double-edged sword.
      On the one hand TOSU had a string of great QB’s that allowed them to compete with good teams despite not playing much defense.
      On the other, Ryan Day passed on Joe Burrow, Quinn Ewers, and JJ McCarthy….2 National Champions and a playoff QB.
      Even as a Michigan fan I felt for CJ Stroud. Had Day been at all interested in defense and complimentary football TOSU would have been in the running for a national championship.
      Unfortunately he’s not interested in either.

He was a FANTASTIC B10 QB, no Buckeye is denying that at this point as painful as it is to admit. My QB board goes: Drake Maye, Daniels, CW, Penix, Bo Nix, JJ. Bo nix is bigger, stronger, more athletic, stronger arm, and JJ doesn’t have the film to get past him with intangibles. Both are question marks when it comes to downfield passing attributes: accuracy, decision making, ect.. JJ should be a second round pick at best only because of the position value, and it’s likely any team who takes him before the fourth round will regret picking him Ofer someone else on their board. Fair assessment? O-H

    PS. And to in any way think that Nick Saban retired because of losing to Michigan, is an example of your utter delusion.
    By the way, congratulations on winning the national championship that is awesome and you guys deserve it and it’s great for the Big Ten as well. Just win act like you belong there and move on.

    I saw a post of them bragging about having the "biggest margin of victory in basketball between the rivalry" when they seem to not realize this is a historically bad Michigan team that has won like 8 games. And their team has the exact same NCAA tournament outlook as Michigan 😂 anything to help those bums move past 0-3 and Michigan football being reigning national champs until January 2025.

    I love how OSU only has the leg up on Michigan when Michigan is historically bad.
    In regards to J.J., how do you come up with the idea of him making bad reads when he completed 69% of his passes over the last two years with 44 TDs and nine INTs and a 27-1 record. If people don't think that is an impressive stat line I don't know what is then.

      It's obvious that 99% of JJ's detractors are Michigan haters. Their hatred for the program, the school, the helmet, the Big Hose, Harbaugh, the overall historical record....has clouded their ability to look at JJ McCarthy for what he is; an immensely talented, smart, well-coached, athletic, strong-armed, mobile QB with NFL size. He's now almost 220lbs and still putting on bulk for the NFL.
      His naysayers live in a delusion due to their hatred for Michigan.

      You do know that between 2001-2019, OSU went 17 and 2 vs Michigan, and in that span of those years, Carr was 1 and 6, and Harbaugh was 0 and 5. That means your 2 last National Title winning coaches were a combined 1 and 11 in that time. So your "we were down and you only beat terrible teams" stuff just doesnt hold water.

    I agree that JJ is talented but I don't believe that he currently has the ability right away to be a year 1 starter. If you watched the combine he had some issues with his accuracy. Again I will say that he is talented but he's a work in progress and is most likely a late 1st early 2nd round guy. Get him behind a veteran that he can learn from and work with to hone his game. I just don't see him being a year 1 starter.

    • @dberrimi9
      @dberrimi9 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He didn't complete every pass at the combine? omg, his accuracy is a real concern, indeed. Never mind the last seven years when he dominated in high school and college at the highest level of competition, completed 70% of his passes and won 90%+ of his games. Those 2 or 3 missed throws at the combine really put a scare into NFL GMs.

    I’m a Michigan guy. I’m not 100 percent JJ is a stone cold lead pipe lock to be a star in the league too much goes into that. But I am a Lions fan too and I read a quote that said that he would most like to throw the ball to Justin Jefferson and I got a feeling of terror. So that’s how good he is.

    • @dberrimi9
      @dberrimi9 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For sure. He's going to upgrade that position for some sad-sack NFL team. I wish the Leos had figured out a way to bring him here to the D. But alas, that's not in the cards at all. There are at least 7 teams that want a new, young QB to groom for the starter position, quickly....so JJ has rocketed up the draft board. Denver, Atlanta, New England, LAR, Minnesota, Washington, NYG are all in play for JJ McCarthy.

    • @jakesshopandtracktalk1835

      @@dberrimi9 Yeah he won’t get down the draft board far enough for the Lions. I wasn’t a Goff guy. But honestly how can I not give him his props at this point? He’s a guy left for dead. Sent to team and town that’s been left for dead and he’s playing the best ball I could possibly ask for. The UM guy I hope to get is Mikey Sainrstil. Hopefully about the third round. Our secondary… whew. We need more than Mikey. But he’s probably the most Dan Campbell dude in the draft.

    JJ looks to possibly have potential I’ve just haven’t seen consistent elite QB play out of him. If your major selling points for him are his game against East Carolina, UNLV and a game where he had 2 pick 6’s your really grasping at straws to find on field passing production.

    • @dberrimi9
      @dberrimi9 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The totality of his work speaks for itself. And in case you aren't aware, there's a LOT more to drafting NFL players, particularly QB, than the "film". JJ's film is excellent (27-1 as starter, top 1% in PFF overall rating for all players, 70% accuracy, 5-1 TD to Int ratio, Natty) but everything else he has going for him makes him the complete package, his football knowledge and experience, leadership, selflessness, attitude, personality. Any NFL GM will tell you all of that, and he hasn't even had his Pro Day yet, which will boost his stock even more.

    I’m a buckeye alum but I don’t root against guys in the next level. JJ has an amazing arm, great feel in the pocket and escapability, and a great athlete. He has top 10 talent but his footwork, timing, hit and miss accuracy are the reason he’s gonna be a drafted later 1st or early 2nd. Where ever he gets drafted he needs to sit for a couple of years regardless

    • @dberrimi9
      @dberrimi9 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Look around the NFL. Most QBs have the same problems, and then some, His footwork was praised at the combine and will be at his upcoming Pro Day" as well. I don't see how "accuracy" could be considered a problem. He's been more accurate over the last 2 years than 95% of all NFL or NCAA QBs.

      Which games did they win because of "cheating"? Thank God Stallions was there for UNLV or this season would have been a bust. Glad he resigned when he did so the country could see how much they needed him. Vegas lines didn't move after the story broke btw, they knew it was a nothing-burger just like the rest of us. Doesn't mean there shouldn't be punishment but to say that's why they won is next-level dumb. Not many people clinging to that narrative anymore. Stallions must have been calling Harbaugh during the Rose Bowl telling them the signs to out-tough Alabama.
