Personally I need full coverage foundation because I have a lot of sun spots. But I hate the look of thick heavy makeup, so I use an e.l.f. brush to apply Revlon Full Cover foundation ONLY where I need it, mostly on the forehead and cheeks. I thin it out with the brush for the areas where I need less coverage. Then, to accomplish a glowy look, I apply Color Pop highlighter to center of forehead and apples of my cheeks. It has a tiny bit of pink shimmer, not too sparkly! Then, fill in eyebrows with a Milani taupe pencil, add Kiss wispy natural false eyelashes, and finish with Mac lipstick in the shade Lipstick Snob which is a light natural pink shade. And I'm done! By the way, your hair looks great. Love the length and the bangs. ❤
@beautybydez HI Dez! I don't use a separate concealer product. For under eyes, I apply a moisturizer and then use an e.l.f. eyeshadow brush to apply my regular foundation under the eye. I actually use two shades of Revlon Full Cover while doing my makeup. The darker shade goes on the forehead and tip of my nose, and the lighter shade goes on the rest of my face. I use a light hand over areas that don't need much coverage!
I use both.... the lighter foundation in summer, as Australian heat, it just melts off!! But I like a fuller, creamier foundation for winter so my skin doesn't dry out in the cold, so I use either, depending on the weather...and the serums work if you just use a concealer for bad spots, marks, scars, carefully blend out, then apply serum foundation all over.
Beautiful look Dez! And so affordable! I have the sister palette to the Always Blushing...the Always Naked has beautiful neutral brown tones and it is my absolute favorite drugstore palette! Happy Sunday Gorgeous!
Oh thank you Tamara! The products really are amazing for the price - and those lippies! I'm going to see if I can get hold of the Always Naked palette - Wet N Wild can be tricky to find in the UK for some reason. Happy Sunday yourself and bon voyage 😉😎❤️❤️❤️
Have you tried the Too Faced Shadow Insurance 24 hour eyeshadow primer? I have 67 yo oily, wrinkled eyelids and it works with all eyeshadows, drugstore or high end. You just need a tiniest amount and you let it set for a few seconds. It’s transparent so unfortunately it doesn’t cover any discolouration but it really works (for me).
Thanks Charlotte, and I have actually! I went on an eye primer spending spree and that was one of the ones I bought. I need to give a good test drive, though, particularly as I am now learning how to apply it best - it is tricky when your eyelids are so wrinkly!
I think the Elf Halo Glow really made your skin look smooth and pretty. I have it but I've been hesitant to use it everywhere thinking it would emphasize my forehead lines and the scarring on my chin. However, after looking at it on you I'm excited to try it tomorrow!
I just got Nudestix bronzer stick and blush. The colors are so nice, very natural, very flattering. I also love that metal tin of all their shadow sticks. Everything is so easy to use. The other fun item I got for just $10 is ColorBlock palette by natasha denona. Its purple and apricot.
Hi, Dez! Your finished look is lovely, and is perfect with your blouse. Your skin looks very smooth. I'm not a drugstore gal myself, having been drawn in/suckered(?) 😉by luxe packaging and formulations for a few years now. I hope you'll keep your fringe. It softens the forehead and looks more youthful -- if that matters to you! (I've had a pixie cut for several years, and often miss my fringed bob.) 💟
Hi Dez, I would love you to watch some of Nishas (Sugar Puff and Fluff), eyeshadow applications for hooded eye. I think if you included more of your eye lid, you would get a fantastic eye look that made your eyes look bigger. That little crease/hood on the inner courner of the eye, she seems to incorporate into the mobile lid colour, and her eyes look gorgeous after she's done. I think you could get the same effect on your lids if you got daring and covered more of the eyelid, especially that little inside corner. ❤❤
Thanks Lynette - so you've spotted I am not that adept at applying eye shadow 😉. I will add Nisha to my list of vids to watch and tutorials to follow, thank you ❤️
Hi Dez! I love that Elf Halo glow! It has truly become one of my favorite products! And I have to thank you for the laugh when you were talking about how your Mom used to look dropping you off to school! lol! Love those lavender shades of eyeshadow on you! So pretty! I loved hearing your thoughts on all these products and so enjoyed just “hanging out with you” this Sunday morning. Hope you’re having a fantastic day my beautiful friend. Until next time!❤️
Thanks so much Tina! I don't know why it took me so long to get around to using the Halo Glow - I've just watched the video back on my TV and it does look rather nice, although I say so myself! Yes, my mum was a character - if she were here now we'd have a good laugh about the nightie and the mink!
I thought all the make up looked lovely. I particularly liked the finer eyeliner rather than the thicker line. It is also a treat that the products are available in the U.K. I’m really enjoying your channel.
You have lovely skin and I'm enjoying your make up testing and tips. Have you tried the Mii eye prep primer? It works well on my oily lids as it not creamy. You just pat it on.
Thanks for mentioning my review! I'm still watching, so not sure of your conclusion yet. That first shade from the palette matches your shirt perfectly! I think the foundation looks lovely on you at application. I love how the concealer looks on you. I want to try it! Beautiful in the sun too. Maybe a little worn off at the end?
I'm new to your channel and by accident I found you. It's so difficult to find someone mature to give us some makeup reviews. I will be 75 this year and I really appreciate your videos. I've not tried all of the products you've shown, the Halo glow looks quite nice on your skin as well as the tint. I will try the bronzer and blush. Also thanks for the " how they last through the day."
Hi Dez: I'm here in the States, just a bit older than you, about three years. I'm a new subscriber; I really enjoy your content, and, I can relate so well. I touch up my own dark brown hair, because I dislike going to the salon intensely (I'm very insecure and shy by nature), and, I'd rather do it myself. I watched one of your videos on you touching up your roots and quite loved it. I also love your makeup application and videos. You look just as youthful as I try to, without all the "procedures" so overdone nowadays. Your accent is also very charming, and, your voice is soothing. In this crazy world, especially the beauty industry, it is really wonderful. I'm going to go back and watch all your videos! Thank you for your fantastic content for us mature women who want to look GOOD, not YOUNG...just the BEST version of ourselves. Stay blessed. Rosemarie ❤️
I really enjoy your videos. There aren't many made by older women in the UK. I watch a lot of videos by older TH-camrs but most of them are American and while I enjoy them a lot of the products aren't available here.
Thanks Cindy - and that's one of the reasons I started the channel - especially so called drusgtore brands like Essence - I dont think we can get that here. Very grateful for your comments and thanks so much for watching!
This is a beautiful look on you!!! What eyeliners do you recommend for a mature eye that goes on smoothly? I’ve been using my eyeshadow as a liner, too. I use a fine eyeliner brush (damp), then stroke it on.
Hi Dez, Happy Mothers Day! I am so delighted you used the elf halo glow filter. I keep looking at it, but was concerned it would highlight my textured skin, so seeing you use it as a primer was really interesting, and it looked lovely. It just shows that you can look great with affordable make up, as well as high end. I will give the filter a go. Its a mighty big doe foot though isn’t it 😂 . I think thats the pay off sometimes with affordable make up, the packaging is not so great, but it’s certainly usuable. I’m on a dewy blusher search at the moment, soooo many to choose from !!
Happy Mother's Day to you too, Marjorie! Yes, glad I finally applied the Halo Glow and it looked nice - I'm going to try it with different foundations now. And...dewy blusher - you've given me an idea for a video - I've not actually bought any blushers for a good long while, not since the Merit - so watch this space - or let me know if you find any good ones in the meantime.
Hi new here and very helpful points/tips👍ty.. I heard you say you wasn't doing tight lining no more😱lol..& was wondering if it helps to not do it with aging eyes?..I would luv to find a better way not to..but unfortunately it's hard for me..due to Sjorgens Syndrome..with crooked & sparse lashes😭any helpful tips on that I would really appreciate any advice..only browns, as black is to harsh for me😉 U R very Lovely💃
Oh, sorry to hear that - yes I can imagine it's tricky navigating eye makeup for you. I think firstly using a soft eye pencil, then taking it as close to the lashes as you can is probably best. Personally I quite like a thicker dark brown line - if I'm going to line my mobile lid, I don't think it has to be thin - if we look at actresses on the red carpet, most of them have a thicker line although of course they will have falsies on too! Also, if you don,t fancy a pencil, a dark brown eyeshadow does the job very well, and has staying power too. Thanks so much for watching!
Hello from Texas, I'm a new sub this is the second video of yours I've seen. You have a lovely personality and of course the accent doesn't hurt. I liked all the makeup that you applied. I liked the pallet color story too but not loving the fall out. I hope you have a great day. God bless you and yours. Lynne from Tx
Oh thank you so much Lynne! I haven't been to the US for a while, but when I went as a 20 year old, a couple of people I met said I sounded like the Queen - that did make me laugh! Yes that palette fall out is a bit of a shame, but I'll steer clear of those glittery shades in future. Have a great day yourself and thank you so much for subscribing - it means such a lot to me.
Hi lovely 😊what a fun video !!! the result was pretty . By the way Dez I probably won’t be very popular for saying this but I prefer your hair without a fringe . You have a nice forehead and it’s very proportionate to the rest of your face . I think the fringe hides half your cute face . During this video I actually thought your fringe looked pretty off to the side . Fringes are great for minimizing large foreheads but yours is perfect 😍 To me you just look brighter and more awake without the fringe. Sorry for going on a bit I’m sleepy and about to go to bed . Anyway big hugs from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
You're talking American dollars I'm guessing, because Australian dollars are worth half a pound, so if its £13, it will be $26 AUD.. which is what I paid for it. Makeup is so expensive in Australia and we don't get the samples and return policies that America and some other countries get.... although we are starting to get some brands that are providing instore samples to try a colour, etc. I think theres more countries starting to see us as a country wanting products and a new customer!!
I am yes - I feel I need to because so many of my viewers are based there. Brands do have strange policies - there are some products from L'Oreal for example which are available in the States but not in the UK - and some in France and not in the UK - seems so random! Glad you are getting more brands coming to you now - I loved wandering around the shops in Sydney when I was last there in 2017!
Ciao Dez! how are you? I hope so well ..your look is so fine. Ciao bella!☺😚😘 Ci vediamo presto. I will see you soon. Be happy.🤗😜 A big hug from Giò, Milano-Italia 🛵

Foundation looks excellent, shall try, plus the eye prime is a good price.
Just Wonderful Dez , I mostly only buy drug store make up ( pharmacy or supermarkets here ) . I can’t really see any difference when applied well ❤
Thanks so much! And there probably isn't - a lot of it will be packaging I guess!
Beautiful look Dez! And so affordable! I have the sister palette to the Always Blushing...the Always Naked has beautiful neutral brown tones and it is my absolute favorite drugstore palette! Happy Sunday Gorgeous!
