    Every super glue has a different formulation, some are stronger than others, but that strength also leads to hardness which makes it more brittle. Crazy glue is impressive but also very brittle and doesn't hold up well to shock. Gorilla glue is probably the softest but its good for things that vibrate. My favorite super glue is loctite professional liquid, its strong, a little bit flexible, but best of all it dries clear, unlike a lot of other super glues that crystalize and turn white when they dry.

    With loctite it depends on which you use, liquid or gel. The gel takes longer to dry but give a better bond on solid surfaces than the liquid which works better with softer more porous surfaces. As a pool (billiards) player, I use the gel over the liquid as the leather cue tips have solid compressed backing.

    How clean the two mating surfaces are, ambient temperature and curing times are a variable. All these have some kind of shelf life too and that can make a huge difference. All these glues come from the same basic ingredient. Metal to metal gluing should always require an epoxy base formula and the mating surfaces slightly etched or scuffed. Best to always follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results when using any type of glue or adhesive.

    • @SweetProjectCars

      Leroy USA we did this process with the exact same unopened bottles and spreaders they all had the same chance as the others to bond, those that didn't proved inferior especially on Bondo spreader boards that are made to have things not adhere to them, the great thing about this test is anyone can do it as scientific as they like and they will get the same results...the Krazy glue just plain bonded where the others did not..not even the glue we use on regular basis held up it was a sad day but now we know what we will be using on our customers cars.

    We use the "Loctite" brand Superglue to glue movie film but it is a bit slow on full curing. However it's worth it for the strength. P.S. One of my wife's flower bed outdoor statues broke about 12 years ago. I glued it with Superglue and it stands today. Rain and snow have not destroyed it. That to me is very impressive. May be a good idea to repeat the test on other surfaces which the Glue supposedly claim to be best at. Then you will get some good best up against best strenght pulls.

    Krazy Glue. Krazy glue dries out quicker in the tube to me. Potential flaw in the test is not doing an IPA wipe down on the plastic parts. Those spreaders are pretty slippery.

    So on one of the videos I’m using which is the for plastic repairs on bumper... You use the loctite ultra gel control super glue in the description to use. I’m just noticing that’s not the same one used for the test here but was wondering if the loctite listed is recommended for that specific purpose over the Krazy glue winner here? Sorry for asking but I was curious because I have Krazy glue and the other day I didn’t use it because of the type of plastic and needed to go buy The loctite. Now I’m just probably over thinking but thought I’d ask. Thanks for all your hard work and time!!

    Hey Sweet Project Cars!!, If you have a chance to do "A part 2" of the super glues by a shortcut, putting baking soda (Arm & Hammer baking soda) on the glue while it's still wet!!! But it works on Loctite glue and a Dap glue!!! Not sure about crazy glue, J-B Weld or Gorilla Glue!! ???

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Billy Mays here
    Mighty Putty is a powerful epoxy stick that only activates once you “mix” the putty stick together. Rather than using messy two-part epoxy liqiuds this easy to use epoxy stick contains both materials in an easy to use putty stick. You simply cut off the length of stick you want to use then kneed the stick in your hand until it’s thoroughly mixed, thus activating the epoxy resins. The manufacturers claim that it bonds to almost any surface including metal, glass, PVC, wood, wall board, ceramics, tile and concrete.

      I got some metal putty type epoxy seven years ago and used it to rebuild the last 10% of my motorbike brake lever, the part with the ball end. This lever end originally snapped off taking my bike out of the shed backwards snagging it on the door frame.
      It's impossible to file almost, sounds like metal when tapped with something metal and has never broke off.
      I don't grab this part while braking but I did test it at full force braking just to see, no probs though.
      I molded it right over the boken part for extra strength and it was a dream to get perfect, sprayed it black as original and no way could anyone tell it had been broken before.
      Some of these new age products are AMAZING!
