I love orcas and I love Van Gogh, so the orcas and starry night geckos are my favorites described in this video. I also really love your videos and am always thankful when there is a new one to watch!😁
Oh my gosh that parasitic flower is freakin adorable! It also looks very similar to an orchid I found this summer up in Capitol Forest. I just checked Seek which ID'd it as Spotted Coralroot, which looks correct when I look at its Wiki article... and it's also a parasitic plant! I had no idea until just now!
so many incredible new species, the vaarsha frog, T. malayana, and E. albopilosa might be my favorites on this list. you should totally do a part two for this one!
The starry night geckos are a beautiful, beautiful species. I have always loved Van Gogh’s artwork, and I think he would be happy to have such a wonderful species named after his painting.
A deep-sea crustacean named after Dulcinea from Don Qujote de La Mancha was discovered this year. However, they had to officially name it "Dulcibella" due to a beetle first described in 1907 already having the name. A new tree grown by the same people that revived the Judean date palm was also discovered in October 2024.
I love how you choose to mix the order that the new species are presented. Most channels would start with mammals, as if they’re somehow more important or interesting. Thanks for highlighting that there’s wonder to be found in the lower orders too.
Hi, i like all of your videos, alongside animalogic casual geographic and more, youre so cool when making these videos And youre the reason why i decided to switch fom pokemon, to animals and draw all animals and bugs instead, although i wont include plants and coral
The orcas were my favourite on the list. I never thought about them being so different. I wonder how many species they will find within the populations.
Maybe orcas are difficult to study extensively like snub-nosed monkeys or mouse lemurs? New species in those genera are discovered often such as the Myanmar snub-nosed monkey in 2010 and Goodman's mouse lemur (Mort) in 2005.
Doesn't make sense to classify Orcas as completely different species just because they look slightly different and have different "culture". The huge differences between a human from let's say a major metropolitan city in Sweden and that of a human from let's say some tribe in the jungles of the Amazon are clearly way more different than those of these Orcas. The use of the term "species" is already complicated, this makes it actually nonsensical.
An excellent video as always. As scientific names are Latin, I think you should be pronouncing Phyllobates samperi with four syllables : phy-low-bar-tace. Silly pedantry, sorry.
An newly discovered arboreal lizard that could be on the brink of extinction? Time to make my ancestors proud and pay somebody to catch all of them! (and breed them cus I Luv lizards)
I know its sarcastic or hopeful, but if someone would do that they should take care on buying property around to protect habitat and only catching some making sure to have genetically different individuals if possible. I've been thinking of doing something like this with plants, but ofc from seeds and collected on private land or bought tho.
Im still having headaches from a fb post of someone poaching so many of my local bird species (idk the exact species name) and saying it’s for the good cause they’ll be gone and they’re going to be breeding them. The comments were all supportive bcs of that pathetic excuse anyone with any conservation knowdlege can see through. Im VERY doubtful much are going to survive, and its so ironic that what they’re doing is exactly how they’re making them go extinct in the wild
Very nice. The case of horizontal gene trasnsfer tells me that all the descriptions be useless in the long run because species apparently not only interbreed but also exchange genetic, and hence functional, information. How many species described 100 or more ago do not exist sensu stricti anymore due to various mechanisms that might lead to more than subtle color changes. In Darwin finches it has been shown that changesin diet lead to conspicuous changes in bill morphology. Very fascinating though.
Defining species is an incredibly difficult and hotly debated topic. Indeed, the more we study genetics and evolution, the less old standards of what makes a species seem to make sense.
@nurhayatiabdulkadir79 oh, I see what you mean. I recorded it first thing in the morning, so maybe my voice wasn't really warmed up. I have damaged vocal chords from years of singing and my voice gets tired really easily.
I disagree, Beatles and bugs have such short life cycle that they can separate into different species pretty easily. And everything including us is still evolving, new things could evolve all the time
Yes, you're right, these are species that have likely existed for some time but they are newly scientifically described species, and there are literally millions more left to discover and study. Yes, you're also right that God isn't creating new kinds of living things. However, evolution by natural selection is. That takes time though.
@Sthuont aw well yes I agree with you on those points god isn't making new creatures . I have just been looking at things like seagulls and other animals learning to live with the impacts of humans and started development of like new skills and adapting to the challenges....and that may cause them to become something new and different things in the future . Like with farming and agriculture you think insects would be starting to evolve and adapt to the chance in environments humans have caused

OMG I'm a big fan of your Abid
It's stupid I agree
Let's put the poor species out of their misery. Nothing's worse than being associated with League of Legends
Hawaii got 1 new plant this year. A few years ago it was a few insects/spider from Pacific NW.
Think of something more creative
I really love your content. Thank you for giving us insight!
I love the grumpy dwarfgoby, reminds me of my short friends

Appreciate that you narrate your own videos. Your pronunciations are impressive. Great detail in the video.
Happy New Year to all from Sweden
I love seeing newly geckos be discovered, especially such intricately patterened ones. love the vids, actually entertaining and shows facts well. GJ!
Thx for this phenomenal video...and the narration with your extremly nice voice❤
Brilliant video. Thanks for posting. Best regards for 2025, John. UK.

Freshly woke up to your lovely narration my friend, keep it up.
Beautiful, I loved the geckos most.
They presented themselves very amiable 😊
Love your content dude keep it up brah ❤
I really enjoyed your video and your calming voice. I look forward to seeing more of your Amazing videos!

Informational video 😮❤ thank you🎉
You should make a vídeo about orca taxonomy
I wish you would’ve also mentioned the other poisoned dart frog also described in Colombia this year, the beautiful black and gold Phyllobates bezosi.
Are they named after Jeff bezos?
That bald Bezussy got me acting unwise

Nice video! Was expecting a mention of Dulcibella camanchaca though.
there was also Brachycephalus dacnis, a very small frog, which is appearently just like most of their cousins 😅
No vampire hedgehog (Hylomys macarong) mentioned :(
@noradi123 no, sadly they were described in 2023. A lot of good ones just missed the cut.
So incredibly interesting to think the are still new species being discovered!

Loving the new flora and fauna update
Some species of living things are either endangered, or go extinct, and new ones keep popping up almost everyday. This is just great=):-).
Great video, though I hope you do a follow up for extinct animals discovered this year
It's hard to pick a favourite as they're all wonderful but I love the hairy longhorn beetle and really hope that more are located.
they must be sure it is not a symbiotic species on top of it ay
I hope they are able to find more of the white haired beetle guy.. he was cool
Since Malaysia is in this video, I'm gonna give this a like ❤❤
great vdo!
All hummingbirds are my fav.
you should do sandhill cranes i recently saw some in florida and learned about only being about 4,000 to 5,000 of them in florida in the wild
this is awesome!!!
Yay new frogo🐸
I discovered a gecko in the nineties so cool to see. Another one found.
We got new species of animals, BEFORE GTA 6?? 😭
I can't decide if I identify more with the hairy caffeinated one or the tiny grouchy one.
I may not have chosen to pursue a career in biology but that nerd in me will never die
Super.
damn new cat and a new dart frog i want to kiss them both
That gecko is so beautiful
My favorite one is the cat 🥰

After careful and proper breeding programs, that is.

4 new species of Tarantulas including a completely new genus were discovered on last day of 2024 in Western ghats of India.

The fact that it seems easy to graft two alike plant species, but for what.Just to have it named as a new species.Sounds like an attention grab.
