Wait a second! You're telling me they made a collection of minigames of the Atlantis episode yet didn't made a single level on the scene where Sandy literally digitized to fight off a bunch of pixelated monsters to save the others that is literally a parody of video games?! Wow glad they got their priorities straight for this one....
The closest we got were the germ-based minigames featured near the end, but yeah no main level. Honestly a platformer / action adventure minigame starring Sandy would've rounded out all the game variety really well. Here's to hoping the DS version does something greater!
@@btanman There is a Sandy mission in the DS version, though it is a lot different than the episode. In it, you run through a bunch of weird vector graphics hexagonal areas to look for artifacts.
i seriously recommend checking out the ds version, it's more in line with the other games, being a platformer, and is genuinely pretty fun. at least in comparison to this
Mood fr, sometimes you just gotta appreciate something for what it is. I wouldn't call it "so bad it's so good" either, because it has some great aspects for sure. Maybe it's more of a mixed bag with charm and passion behind it. And a lot of nostalgia for me too. :3

Considering that this was my first SpongeBob game, I have a bit of a nostalgic immunity towards this game. Personally, the maze and camera levels were my favorites, and I loved unlocking the different extras.
Grew up and had the game myself. From what I remember, I might've had the commentary feature on all the time. Fun game back then- but nowadays, yeah, MUCH better pool of options
Squidward super shooter is a cool Metroid Prime homage down to face reflection. Really shows the devs’ passion! Makes me want a whole spongebob themed metroid shooter based on the alien hunting episode. Sandy is literally Samus, a kick butt girl in a special suit
I started laughing when the video was suddenly muted because I didn’t know if it was a problem on my end or if it was intentional, and then it just became a whole montage of random SpongeBob pictures and I was dying of laughter at Spongebob mid-bubble blow and just gasping. The silence and confusion just made it for me lol
Come now, there are way worse games out there. Look at most mobile games for instance. Or whatever dumb normie FPS comes out every year with the same exact garbage gameplay and recycled formulas. This is at least something different, and at least it tried to be something nice, even if it looks odd or bootleg-y.
i got this on the DS as a kid. and i must say it looks quite different from the Wii version, yet it's so fun. i've played through it a ton of times and still have the cartridge. i'm surprised it was so forgotten, but you often enjoy the unknown games
I actually liked the Atlantis Squarepantis episode, it's a pretty good episode. Although not perfect, it has some pretty good scenes for the show, and David Bowie's performance is great.
@AzureWolf168 Spongebob is literally THE goofball character. Sure some seasons flesh it out more than others (and yes, these newer seasons are complete dogshit) but you can't deny that he's been like this since the start. Also, this is one of my favorite episodes, and I'm proud of that fact. Glad I'm not some pedestrian NPC that says shit like "New Student Starfish" because of an unfunny meme.
i always saw this episode as a letdown because they could have done so much more with the atlantis setting than just a willy wonka parody with plankton forced in as a villain
Of all the problems I had with the episode, the one that stands out the most is how David Bowie's character is the one character to not have a musical number. That's probably it's biggest missed opportunity. Aside from that, it was just boring imo. I respect you enjoying the episode though
When I was a kid I had this, battlefront 2, the cars video game, and Simpsons hit & run on my ps2. I distinctly recall being physically scared of rounding the first corner in the tank mission. And the theme of the bus level. Everything else I can only recall scant vignettes.
all i remember of the wii version is renting it as a kid and being confused with how different it was from the ds game lol. gotta love that era of games.
THANK YOU, I have been nostalgia-zing about this game for years, as my PS2 doesn't work anymore (although I could buy the Wii version ig). One of the very first videogames I've ever played, and despite it not being a 10/10 game, I have a lot of good memories with it. One of which hilariously being the very rhythm mini games you're despising; you see, this might actually be the first "rhythm game" I played in my life, and what I didn't know back then, was that the rhythm genre of videogames was going to become my "specialization" of sorts, as a lot of games I play to this day are rhythm games (except, mostly better ones haha), but yeah. While I haven't been able to replay it still (and I will soon), I guess this silly Spongebob game unlocked something within me. It showed me that if it wants to, even a silly little videogame can pack a great punch. I vividly remember all those minigames with joy. Oh, and those amoeba minigames?? Somehow, very cool ones! Idk why, but I'm guessing it's the fact that the rhythm minigames were made like this, with all the characters walking or marching through the level with some funny skits sprinkled in, that is to me what made it so charming; at least to myself as a kid. I'm imagining the rhythm sections are actually not well synchronized with the music, as that seems to be usually the case with non-rhythm-centered videogames especially of licensed movie/TV shows adaptations videogames, but I'll get back to you on that when I do replay the game. Thank you for making this video, I'm glad to have finally seen one made on this game, for years of TH-cam it is pretty odd that this is the only Spongebob game I haven't been recommended videos on until now. Also you're funny, and a good videomaker. Subscribed, I'm looking forward to more videos from you!
I remember the copy of this game that I had would crash anytime you got to Spongebob’s part during the bus mini game. First time I ever raged at a video game. Thank you, Atlantis Squarepantis!
It was kind of short and simple, but it was indeed nice. And also was oddly cute, though I guess that's just due to the fact the show itself is rather cute.
Never thought I'd see a video about this game. This is one of the games I have the fondest memories off from when I was little. Just started rewatching the series recently and I might just have to play this on my actually real wii. Thank you for making this video [:
I can't forget about this game. I remember going through this game multiple times as a young lad. Once when I played it and again when I had to help my younger brother.
Fun fact: The DS version is considered to be the best version of the game (From what I've heard), considering it's almost a COMPLETELY different game. It's also the ONLY version of the game that I've played lol.
thank you for doing a video on this game, I grew up with it and loved it dearly. really good quality video bro, wishing you luck in growing your channel
Very high quality video, I can see you growing a lot in the future! Great editing, great title, great insights and commentary on the game, and great humor!

Atlantis Squarepantis for the Wii was legit the first video game I ever owned (I begged my mom to buy it before I even had a Wii). Some things are better left as memories. Great video tho, excellent pacing and funny editing and commentary. Agreed on the rythem game being terrible tho haha. Still have nightmares.
Oh hey! I remember playing this as a kid! My local video store had it so we rented it out a couple of times. I acutally couldn't get past the 3rd level somewhat, so i usually got stuck there and had no idea what i was supposed to do. Until i actually got past it and beat the game in one sitting. I have very good memories of this game but ain't surprised its dog crap. I think it brings me more nostalgia for that video rental store. Sadly, it was closed down in 2016. I loved that place as a kid. My parents didnt have enough money to buy many games so we usually just rented then out for very cheap. Its how i have memories of Super Paper Mario(which i also got stuck on and never beat) and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon( got stuck on that too but managed to find a way to beat the 1st boss and then beat the game). Also games like Mario Sports Mix. Man, i loved that game! Can say though, the games i DID own as a kid, were very $10 bargain bin games you would find lol. Also Mario Kart.
The memory of the manual bus drive was locked in my head throughout my years of growing up. But the game that I'll never forget was spongebob lights, camera, pants... or was it lights, camera, action.😅
“Speaking of difficulty…there is none.” Proceeds to show the very mini game that prevented my younger self from progressing for months until i finally got it
Btw the DS version is actually a pretty okay 3D platformer. Nothing god tier but pretty decently enjoyable. I still remember that gear boss. I always thought it had a cool design, albeit as an adult, I now see it as pretty damn generic, and I also remember how broken Patrick's spin move. The multi hit just shredded things like paper
I played this game a lot as a kid, one time i had made it to the bus segment and it was patricks turn to sing, as soon as the music started the game crashed and patricks pupils disappeared. I never played that game again lmao
As a kid that I would describe as, using words that I can't say on youtube, I could not beat that first photography level. I don't know if I was bad, or if I just constantly replayed it due to the funny cops doing the megaphone wave thing and me and my grandpa laughing at it, but I've never seen past that level of the game ever. I missed out, but maybe that's a good thing.
I never played the game, or in-fact any SpongeBob game until Creature from the Krusty Krab for the first time a few years ago, but when I learned the music was composed by Matt Black who composed CftKK as well, I watched a longplay and found the best part of the game was in-fact the music (Todd Baker and Ed Hargrave also composed on the game, but Matt Black confirmed he did most of it)

I remenber playing this game. It was so short. I managed to get to the last mission after about 7 hours if I remember correctly. Still have fond memories playing it though.
Man, as I kid, when I actually used to like this game, I remember being SO SAD I could never beat the 4th level. The 3rd level was always my favorite, in fact, I think I always purposely failed to take enough pictures to pass it just so I could keep throwing krabby patties at people.
I actually played the Wii version back in the day! and if memory serves, this was the very first THQ published game I ever played! also, Blitz games also developed all those Bratz console games (Rock Angelz, Forever Diamondz, The Movie, Girlz Really Rock) and Altron, the developer of the handheld versions also developed Bratz Rock Angelz on Game Boy Advance.
I've never known that the DS game (that I played as a kid) was a different game to other versions. I remember the DS to be pretty fun, I often played through it in a single day, so it wasn't too long, but still quite fun.
I misread the video's thumbnail as "Medicare" instead of "Mediocre," lol.
I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THAT OH NO
I wonder what atlantian Healthcare is like
I did the same thing

I read it as “mediacre” because the amulet has an A in it
So, whoever's idea it was to have Sandy's demented expression reflected in her bowl during her final rail shooter segment deserves a raise.

Oh yeah, thats the version i played
Yeah, absolutely! The DS Version was a hyper banger.
The recap audio is now spongebob lost media... put it on the iceburg
“If the Planet Mars turns purple, then who is a squirrel?” 15/10, incredible writing
IDK why, but I like that detail of seeing Sandy's face when shooting with her; I think it would make sense seeing everything through her eyes.
it looks really good, i do wonder if they got inspired from somewhere
