In this video we will explain what is PCV Valve, what the PCV Valve does and the symptoms of a bad PCV Valve. We demonstrated on Mazda but it will apply to most cars nowadays. PCV valves are not expensive and you are supposed to replace them at around 60,000 miles ( depending on model). This valve if it malfunctions it can shorten the life of your engine and cause multiple oil leaks due to increased internal pressure in the engine.

Does anyone have an estimate or possible cost and for cheap labor not going through the dealer? Probably going to have to do timing chain replacement, vvt actuator replacement, and would like to do pcv valve to stop the problems altogether
Very good explanation I have one that’s throwing a P0421 code but it’s intermittent sometimes it comes on and then I’ll go off so I’m wondering if you think the PCV valve could cause that code because the cat seems to be fine. I’m also looking into the EGR because I noticed the pipe was caked up full of gunk.
I have 2009 CX7, CODE p101, i changed air mass sensor, Upper bank O2 sensor the issues still the same. Planning to replace Fuel pressure regulator but can't locate it. Do you have idea to fix the issue?
is the PCV Valve for mazda CX-7 the same with that of Mazda 6? I have a faulty PCV Valve for CX-7 but looking for a substitute as the one for CX-7 is not locally available
Excellent explanation. My cx7 is cutting out at full throttle, this is what possibly causing it.

Awesome explanation. That build up my knowledge on engines. I need a mechanic urgently cause P420 code don't go away with anything I do I change pcv valve, catalytic converter, spark plugs and cores probably computer is failing
Check your EGR and your canister purge that can set that code as well and can cause a exhaust leak or a vacuum leak
My car got leaking at PCV valve hose area, vvt seal area and turbo area. Is it because of PCV valve stuck closed? I've fitted oil catch can to my car. Previously it catched quite normal amount of oil(compared to other cars) but since this leaking problem happened, it catched too little oil. Might be only a few drops of oil only. Is these matters related to one another?

I had a feeling it was pcv when I bought it, but didnt want to take the front of my engine apart.
Will have to do it shortly.
I had oil in 1 spark plug well. And fouling plugs.
Low idle when warm.
Cleaned EGR, Throttle body, air filter, maf sensor. New plugs (now fouled)
Replaced valve cover seals (fixed oil in wells)
Now for the thermostat and pcv valve (thermostat stuck open)
When pcv is changed, time for new plugs and should be running like it should.
I rebuilt my Mazdaspeed turbo 1000kms ago (used a good Melett CHRA) and today start smoking again. I will make compression test (to check piston rings or valve stems, or head gasket) but if everything is fine, maybe PCV is stuck closed and broke my turbo seals again? Or maybe the Melett CHRA was defective?

Can stuck open valve be responsible for (cx7):
- Oil use - 1l per 1k km
- When cold idles at 2k rpm for few minutes, some black smoke coming out
- When cold obd port reports air sensor isn't working correctly, but clears after
I do get occasional black smoke when turbo kicks in, but its not super noticeable.
Change the maf sensor. Then if not that the turbo, failing that injector seals

I have a 2003 Mazda 6 3.0 sport and I have all of the symptoms of a stuck open PCV valve but also have one more and that is while it is idling if I push the accelerator pedal nothing changes RPMs stay exactly the same. Is this a different issue or is this also part of the PCV valve being stuck open?
Same with our cx7, what was your fix? Pcv and spark plugs?
@@duaneafields I changed the Pcv and it helped, but still having issues.... throttle body is usually the problem when it comes to not accelerating above 2000 RPMs but I have changed that. Mine is running very rich and I'm about to do some research on the O2 sensors.

@@cactusbeware after a lot of work and a lot of headaches, the car running rich caused a lot of issues along with misfires melted down the secondary catalytic converters. So now after extensive exhaust work it runs perfectly

Hello, do you have any ideea where is located the pcv valve on Mazda 5, diesel engine, 2.0L,143 hp/2007? The engine is the same but for the model after 2006 is located in other place and i cand't find it! !Thank you!
Did you find it? I have the same model and I'm not sure this diesel Mazda has one fitted.
