I just got my hybrid lariat at the end of August and really like it. I think maybe the main lesson to be learned here is to wait a couple years to buy when a vehicle has just came out new
Yes I just Purchased a Lariat 2022 with 20 K Area 51 Color The MPG is about 37 Not bad !This Truck is perfect for a 78 year old Dude !! According to Scotty on You Tube, The Hi Brid Motor is a Piece of Junk, And No one knows how to work on them !!! I Dont agree with Him, OH well will see !! I like My Maverick Very Well !! Hope we all Have Good luck with them !!! Getty Up !!!
It's all about the gas mileage. I love my 23 XL hybrid. I've consistently gotten 600+ miles per tank since it's hit 5k miles. It's a nice highway cruiser, and the bed is just big enough for what I need.
John - saying that you’d do it again says a lot for your Maverick. Great that your dealer has taken care of you, and battery issue came up way too soon. I’ve got 24k on my Lariat hybrid in just over a year with no real issues, knock on wood. It had a stint back in July where I think one of the evap solenoids got stuck, which made putting gas in the tank a slow - clunky - process, but that seems to have fixed itself before I could take it in. It’s always had a brake system clunk at parking lot speeds which seems to occur less often as the vehicle ages, and it runs the cooling fan after a cold temperature start (what’s that all about?). That’s all I’ve got! Average mpg is 36+ and rising - but winter will be here soon. For the price, I’ve got to say that I love this little truck.
@@lmnop888- thanks! I was aware of this, but thinking it was likely not a 100% fix. I’ll get it looked at in December, since my dealer has asked to do a software update.
Still waiting on my Maverick hybrid order But each day i wait and read all the issues people are having i keep thinking making a mistake. Waited over a year now and my order was transferred to a 2024. I already dislike my dealership as they have poor customer service and refuse to stay in contact and update customers on their orders. Glad you finally got the vehicle fixed.
In the same boat, been waiting for 2 years on my Maverick order and it just got rolled over into a 2024. I'm in no hurry for a new vehicle and hearing about some of the reported problems is making me take a real pause on this purchase. Let's hope that Ford has worked out all of the bugs of the first-year orders.
I can definitely say you are correct.. nothing touches the Maverick hybrid!.. I would absolutely buy mine again.. 10,500 miles in my Hybrid Maverick and enjoy it alot!
Thanks for sharing! Really wanted one but I think you helped me dodge that bullet. I assume the CVs are only covered to 5/60K so sounds like you got lucky if you are just hitting 67K. For those that don't put so many miles per year will get those failures right after the warranty ends. The heat exchanger is welded in so also sounds like big money if that fails. At least the battery has decent warranty but still means get rid of it long before you hit 8y/150K. At your current sounds like you will be out of the battery warranty in about 3 more years..definitely a beauty but not a keeper
Good information, I only have 2500 miles on my 23 so far,. No issues. I did buy another set of wheels with ws90 Blizzak's on them for the first winter. Buffalo NY
Ordered my mav 9-15-22. I’m still waiting,, it was made oct 2-5 and shipped a week later it’s been sitting in Ohio at the rail yard for 6,7 weeks. Apparently it was out on hold bc of turn signal issue! The dealer is tired of me calling 3 times a week and I feel like I’m getting the run around! I just got another delivery date of 12-26 1-6 ! What a joke. 16 months for a truck !
I ordered my 2024 Maverick hybrid in the summer of 2023 when the order bank opened, just got an email my Maverick is waiting for me at the dealership ahead of schedule
OMG yeah you're in a tough spot, right, test driver , newbie in the block, uncharted waters, getting in the dark with this new hybrid technology specially for Ford. MAYBE they'll cut you a check at the end, ja kind of hard. The good news is that you still have a lot of warranty to go and making Ford work for owners of the thing, I don't think Ford tested this vehicles in a lab to get to 100k in a lab- of course not. Of course keep posting to see what turns out.
Did you get the extended warranty, or was everything covered under their normal warranty? We’re getting ours in a couple weeks and are wondering if we should get the extended warranty.
My electric only acceleration for my hybrid maverick sucks. You try and acellerate a little a tad quicker and it always kicks on the gas engine. And im not even accelerating that quick, all the other cars on the road would leave me in the dust
My maverick has 70k miles and am getting the same code and wrench. So far the dealerships have been blowing me off. They just replaced the bad 02 sensor but I'm going back to the dealer soon. Has the CEL came back on at all? Thanks for sharing. I also had a bad axle and the cable failure going to the fuse box all covered under warranty
ended up taking mine to carmax. and they gave me $24000 which is about $2k less than what i original paid. for a car with 36000 miles. similar issues too, water into the passenger side, radio dies randomly, oil coming from the valve cover, axles going out was its final nail in the coffin. i need a reliable car thats not in a dealership for a week to see it and to maybe get a loaner so i can go to work to pay for said car.
I guess it comes down to what are you willing to tolerate when it comes to brake downs and recalls. To me what you described sounds like a nightmare. We own a 2020 Honda CRV hybrid with about 50,000 miles and have had 0 recalls or issues. Maybe buying a first generation vehicle you should expect more issues I am not sure but I would not be happy with what you have delt with. You clearly have more patience than I do.
looking into one of these and lowkey scared to go from Toyota/Lexus to this. I was looking for a hybrid truck with great mpg. Someone is offering me a 2022 for 20k should I pass? I don’t want to be stranded driving 3 hours away or even traveling further. I trust Toyotas engineering and hearing these problems scared me. what do you think? what should I ask the seller
Hey Man What the hell give it a try , I have a 2022 Also No Problems !! Mine is getting so so Milage, without running the AC !! I really don't think these Hi Brid Motors get 40 MPG !! UNless your going down hill !! Good Luck Man !!!
This vehicle, as well as most other car brands with turbo charged micro engines, hybrid crap, crappy CVT transmissions and direct fuel injection will be a complete nightmare in a couple of years. The money you save on fuel will just be change compared to what it costs to keep these cars running.
Just thinking too is there a way to see battery life display like a cell? I wonder is less than 50 by now? Maybe losing power and need new one, and you seem to take good care by storing in garage and clean.
The Maverick will go the way of the Fiesta and Focus. The truck runs great because you replaced a battery..yeah, sound like a reliable combination. Not a chance I would ever buy one.
I just got a 23 XL hybrid. Mine pull to the right when I give it some gas. Dealer said alignment is fine that it's tork steer! I also have a 22 hybrid for 16 months and never noticed it. My daughter took it to college 4 months ago so I can't test them side by side! Do you feel the tork steer?
None of this crap happens with a well maintained ICE Toyota, bought new from a later production year from a realiable model. Why do people do this to themselves? Some must learn for themselves?
2014 civic 150k miles no repairs except brake pads, oil changes, trans fluid changes. Ford looks scary. But I like the looks of the Maverick. Just won't buy ford.
I gotta 2019 Hyundai Ioniq plug in hybrid, 130,000 miles no major issues whatsoever except had to replace my 12 volt starter battery in the trunk twice at $400 a pop , still on the original brakes, still averaging between 75mpg -100 mpg ( I get to charge for free at work) 100 mile round trip commute every day😥 fuel economy is way better in stop and go freeway traffic because it’s pretty much in electric/ hybrid mode under 25mpg !!💯🤙🏼 hopefully Ford resolves all the issues and comes out with a Maverick plug in hybrid or the Ranger plug in hybrid in 🇺🇸 really the best of both worlds imo!!
It’s the price owners pay for getting year one of a new model. I should know, I have a 22 Maverick Hybrid. 😅 To be clear, I don’t have most of the problems this guy has.
Have a 22 Hybrid. 1st year model-expected issues. Ford gas take care of mine too. Like this truck! Amazing mileage, smooth, comfy, quiet. Recommend!

I will be buying a 2025 so I guess I will be a sucker.

That's good, I have 23 xl 4,000 miles on it. Haven't cracked 40 mpg so far. My 22 xlt consistently gets 46 mpg.
ordered a 24 maverick hybrid XLT back in July. Hope they have fixed the issues that you have experienced. Thanks for sharing.

@dennislyon5412 there’s a software fix for the low speed braking clunk. Your local dealership would be able to fix it.
@@lmnop888- thanks! I was aware of this, but thinking it was likely not a 100% fix. I’ll get it looked at in December, since my dealer has asked to do a software update.
So extended warranty is a MUST

Having a good dealership to fall back upon is key

Sane here!
That's great buy would like to see more comments about the hybrid 60k reaching point just like the video
I keep getting 12v battery drain daily on my hybrid. Tempted to lemon it and get a RAV4 hybrid...

Very good tires
Wow! I was really interested in this truck...but I have a 2020 Rav4 hybrid and have ZERO issues or service visits and I have 70k miles on it.
Right too bad only Ford with small hybrid pick up now to choose from, since gas I'd pretty much 5 a gallon
yeah, too bad a RAV4 costs double/triple as a Maverick
@@ColinPopoviciu $24k vs $32k base isn’t even close to double…
Good info, thanks for sharing. What's it like being a "test pilot?"
HMMM, I have a hybrid on order, lots to think about. I've had one Ford with lots of issues (1985) and the rest have been great.
I can imagine the cost to replace an all electric car battery.

I never had any of that go out on my 2002 Focus manual.
I’m glad it’s under warranty, but not sure I would keep it when it runs out of warranty
Once it reach 100k in miles I will decide after that.
Thanks for the update, all your post have been very informative. And everyone please pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.
I stand with Israel!
Did you get the extended warranty, or was everything covered under their normal warranty? We’re getting ours in a couple weeks and are wondering if we should get the extended warranty.
Everything was covered under the factory warranty
My electric only acceleration for my hybrid maverick sucks. You try and acellerate a little a tad quicker and it always kicks on the gas engine. And im not even accelerating that quick, all the other cars on the road would leave me in the dust
So pretty much big thing is to have to be easy on the gas pedal to save $$ for gas, otherwise it'll is a gas guzzler vehicle
My maverick has 70k miles and am getting the same code and wrench. So far the dealerships have been blowing me off. They just replaced the bad 02 sensor but I'm going back to the dealer soon. Once my high voltage battery was replaced my CEL light has NOT come back on.

With all these problems and only 65k on it.... I will keep driving my 32 year old F150
It sounds like the mechanics don't know their work they just said gotta have this replaced

Working with a great dealer really does help. If the dealer I had to work was less than amazing I would have traded the truck off long ago!
Thanks for posting

Omg right, too bad they make it look good when new but seems like problems piling up
Do you know why you had a premature hybrid battery failure?
My dealership does not know.
Just thinking too is there a way to see battery life display like a cell? I wonder is less than 50 by now? Maybe losing power and need new one, and you seem to take good care by storing in garage and clean.
You can see battery info through an OBD2 port tool with a tablet or laptop
What is the display on yours.? Close to a 100 or low?
@angelbest19lop78 last time I checked the high voltage battery it usually is between 50 to 80% charged
Ok thanks for the update
That’s why you have a warranty
The Maverick will go the way of the Fiesta and Focus. The truck runs great because you replaced a battery..yeah, sound like a reliable combination. Not a chance I would ever buy one.
Do you know what the labor cost would be to replace your hybrid battery out of warranty?
No I do not but will try and find out
Both kidneys.

No torque steer whatsoever in mine
I have a 22 hybrid and feel it Pull to right in acceleration as well. Dealer said it was tire pressure, getting it checked again.
Any idea how much the extended warranty is through Ford.?
They range from 1k to 2.5k
Does ford have this many problems on the escape hybrid?
Not that I am aware of

I'd never buy a first year model vehicle from any manufacturer
