Hi Dustin, recently retired from Ford after 43 years as an engineer, predominantly working on interiors. Pleased to hear we are getting most things right, and I obviously know how much time, effort and testing goes into creating these vehicles.
@paulcrisp8423 Hi Paul, saw a few weeks ago that Ford may come out with a 2 door longer bed version of the Maverick with the hybrid engine. Any truth to that? If so any idea about when? Thanks.
@@kennethkilpatrick3758 Hi Kenneth, Sorry I was based in Austarlia working on the Ranger for the last few years, so don't have any information about Maverick. That sounds like a viable version that I am sure could be a very popular vehicle, lets hope it materialises!
I’m really happy with my 23 Maverick Hybrid. I’ve owned it for a year and not one issue. A couple of recalls and I was in and out at the dealer within an hour.
Sounds about right to me. I've only spoken to one owner who had anything negative to say, but he's actually had some mechanical issues (Which I haven't heard from anyone else).
My 2022 maverick XLT HYBRID, has a lot problems, and it's been for more than 4 months in the dealer, but they have fixed everything. My overall MPG 34.5 IN 23000 MILES. RUNNING 85% IN STREETS. WITH 200 WEIGHT IN THE BED.
I'm still have some issues like breaking sounds mostly in the morning, engine acceleration by it self, heavy steering wheel after 3 days without driving.
Nice! I ordered a 2024 XLT AWD w/ 4K tow & co-Pilot 360 last July. It was built on 1/30/24 and delivered to my dealer on 2/23. I’m going to pick up in two days and I’m pretty excited. My 2005 GMC Canyon is very long in the tooth at 260,000 miles.
I have the 23 lariat awd eccoboost 31k have averaged 27.6 mpg love it. I bought it while I was waiting on my 22 xlt hybrid. It just now came in as a 24
Nearly 28MPG is not bad at all for an AWD light truck. It's an impressive vehicle mechanically. I had an AWD Fusion with that 2.0T and loved the motor.
I have a 22 hybrid. Have driven it about 9500 miles. coast to coast USA round trip once. I did not even know it has regenerative braking. I pay no attention to the dial for how it is working left of instrument cluster. Many recalls yet I ignore most. Ford came to my home last week and did three software updates. Two issues I've had. 1. Low speed, under 10mph grabbing brakes, yet only sometimes. 2. Going downhill on a freeway for many winding miles the engine raced like it's in a lower gear and sometimes changing driving modes helps but not always. Worst fuel mileage 21.1 (average speed 87mph) Best fuel mileage 50 mpg.(Driving like I had an egg under gas pedal) Fuel mileage coast to coast 33.3 Fuel mileage when speed limits were 55 and under: 39 mpg (rural area of roads). I've only taken my vehicle in for the free oil/filter changes. Nothing else so far. I have two Mavericks, the other is EcoBoost AWD 4KTOW, FX4. They drive similarly. The AWD vehicle rocks slightly at freeway speeds due to different rear suspension. They make a good appliance but I'd rather be driving my BRZ any day.
Hey Dustin. I'm in waterdown Ontario. I have a 2023 hybrid and I find when it's wet out the brakes are really grabby. Does yours so the same? Great videos.
The brakes definitely have a slightly different feel due to the mix of regenerative and hydraulic. I think there has been a firmware flash you can have done to help with that a bit. I would mention it at your next service appointment.
Hi Dustin, you are full of surprises my friend. I saw the notification for your post. I thought it was another lens review and it turned out to be a Maverick update. You have sold me on this vehicle. I am thinking about getting one. I am in Las Vegas so I may not see any winter action unless I travel into wintery areas. Was AWD option available when you got your car? Can you do light off roading? Thanks.
If you look in my original video, you can see me climbing a pretty serious grade. There is an AWD option, but not with the hybrid powertrain. You have to get the 2.0 Ecoboost motor.
@boristahmasian9604 Boris, come on up to Park City, just 6 hrs from you. We can hit some snow covered streets in the Mav AWD I show in my content. Even with last year's huge winter, I never got stopped at chain control. It really digs in.
@DustinAbbottTWI not, I'm driving like a very old man because I'm trying to get my best mpg, but my Maverick has been parking in the dealer for many months of repairs, and recalls, after those issues, my Maverick decreased the mpg. I don't know what happens, that's why I'm looking for mpg videos . Thanks again
@DustinAbbottTWI my point 👉: Maybe because the truck was 115 days in the parking lot without driving? But 24.5 is still good, but not what they promised
I've just came upon this review & your previous one on the Maverick. I live in the Muskoka area of Ontario. Thanks for posting your experiences with the Maverick. I'm going to be needing a new vehicle soon & am looking at either a RAV4 Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid & the Maverick Hybrid. I need a fuel efficient vehicle to travel 160 kms daily to & from work & also to tow a utility trailer, small boat & a pop-up trailer. The SUV's have more towing capacity than the Maverick but I am really leaning towards the Maverick. Its 2000lb capacity will be adequate for me. The SUV's would be nice for throwing our 2 dogs in when camping. What would you think of the back seat of the Maverick for traveling with 2 Huskies heading to areas like Temagami? Thanks in advance, Geoff
@@DustinAbbottTWI next year I hear there will be a refreshment design look for the next model 2025 if it looks good I might trade it in with the newer one next year but hopefully won’t be a long wait like what we had in previous models
My 22 had an issue with the AC suddenly coming on very strong, without changing the dial. Also when I connect the Bluetooth to listen to a book, it doesn't work.
I've had intermittent Bluetooth issues (they seem to mostly be solved via software updates at this point), but I'm never seen the AC issue. My climate control system has worked flawlessly.
why do you have wheels which do not normally come on the hybrid XLT model...those ARE on my EcoBoost awd. Were they an option or part of a package ? What brand and model for winter tires ?
I bought a second set of wheels so that I don't have to swap my winter tires on and off the factory rims. I have a brother-in-law who is a Ford parts manager and he got me a good price on them. I'm using the Michelin X-Ice snow tires.
It wasn't, though. It was happening all the time. The flashing was required to return it to normal operation where it only does that after the vehicle has been sitting for a few days.
What about the stabilization? Seams rough a bit..., chromatic aberration, F stop... Ford Stop?... auto focus... ha yes, there are no longer any auto called focus at Ford 😉
Its not a truck, it's a small SUV with an uncovered trunk. Better dump it before you have to replace that hybrid battery...but I guess that's the next chumps problem right??
With all due respect, I've just not seen that to be a major issue with hybrids that have been on the market for a long period of time. There is a very robust used market for even 20 year old hybrids. It's not the same as EV batteries which can be prohibitively expensive to replace. The much smaller battery in a vehicle like this is very different, and third party battery replacements can be as little as $1000 - not any different than any other significant part in the vehicle. The battery is also warrantied for 8 years/100K miles.
Man youre ignorant about batteries. There is only a 1.1KW battery inside. That's about 1000 US dollar replacement. Are you just a dinosaur that hasn't got out of the gas guzzling, oil burning phase of driving. There are a ton of EV or hybrid vehicles that have been problem free. It's time to open a book, read and inform yourself.
Have had a Mercury Mariner (same as Ford Escape) hybrid for 14 yrs. The battery is still fine, and would cost about $3500 to replace. Prius batteries of the same vintage are even cheaper to replace because there have been a lot more of them out there compared to the Escape. The gas motor never gave us a single problem and has more than 107K on it. No complaints whatsoever. At this point the car is worth about $8000 retail. Add in $3500 for a battery, and for under $12K you have a good small SUV with all wheel drive that gets a documented 30 MPG. Don't see any chumps in this neighborhood.
Being in Canada, when you stated 37 miles a gallon, is that metric [km/4liters] or American MPG?
That's American. That's a 6.35L per 100 kilometer rating or 44.4 metric gallons
