- Sixth project in a series using 2 1/2 inch strips to make scrappy quilts! Moda Fabrics had this great pattern to use with a Jelly Roll available for shop owners to share with their customers. Any pattern that works with a Jelly Roll will also work with leftover 2 1/2 inch strips! I made two samples for you to see in this video. A lap sized version using my Halloween strips, and a full sized version using a variety of Christmas prints. For the Christmas version, I added a 4" border between the outer rows of blocks to give the eye somewhere to rest and add to the size without making more blocks. The Moda website has a great variety of wonderful patterns that you can download and print at home, make sure to check out the FREE PATTERNS section of their website!

Stay to the end to see the bonus projects I made using the leftovers from the quilts!
There is also an update on the scrap bucket situation and how that is looking!
I've challenged myself to do a new project each month using only 2 1/2 inch strips from my scrap buckets. I have always saved leftover strips from projects and cut up small leftover fabric from yardage into 2 1/2 inch strips and put them in a bucket for some "future" project . The future is now! It is time to tame the scrap bucket and use up these strips. I'll always have a scrap bucket of strips because I'm constantly adding to it but I want to get it down to just ONE bucket instead of three...make that seven after the "GREAT SORTING"! This series will last until I'm down to one bucket. Let's be honest, it will take at least 2 years to use up enough strips to make a difference! So join me on this project adventure to use up fabric scraps!

You have the sweetest voice that makes your videos so enjoyable in addition to the creation of some amazing quilts!
Thank you so much 🙂
I agree! Easy to understand and not too fast! Great!
I love scrap quilts, especially when the scraps are from prior projects. Sewing is a nice walk down memory lane, at least when I remember the projects previously made. Plus, I don’t feel any pressure to sew perfect. Good enough is good enough. And the end results are always great!!! Thanks for sharing a scrappy quilt passion.
I absolutely love this series! Not only is it scrappy quilting which is my favorite, but the patterns are simple and relatively quick and easy sewing! I will be sad if the strip buckets ever become empty. 😂
These are my favorite videos! I look forward to each one and then rewatch them. Keep it up PLEASE.
Thank you 😁
I am loving your strip series. I love seeing someone working with their own scrap pile and not just precut sets of strips or squares that already match. I have lots of scraps to use up before I allow myself to buy any more fabric. I also like that you are working with pins; I was starting to feel like I was the only person who still sewed with pins rather than clips.
Glad you are doing these tutorials on the strips!
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
Love every projects you made from scraps . You are amazing quilter. I enjoy your vdo.
Thank you so much!
❤ Gorgeous ❤ Fun ❤ I Love This Series ❤
Now you have inspired me to clean out my strip buckets 🎉
❤love your ideas!
I just love this series! Great use of scraps, thanks for sharing all your good ideas. I don’t have nearly as many 2 1/2” strips as you do, but these videos make me wish I did. You are welcome to send me some of yours lol.
Neither do I, but these videos got me wanting to cut stash fabric into straps lol

Binge watched all the videos in this series and enjoyed every one! Perfect for making scrappy quilts from leftovers with very little waste. I also enjoy this kind of sewing; it's very relaxing to me. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much!
This is just wonderful! You are a great teacher and I really appreciate that you sound so proud of yourself. As sewers of any kind, so often I hear folks downplaying their finished project. It was so nice to see and hear how much you love making quilts. Thanks for the video, I look forward to each one.
Thank you so much!
Enjoying this series. Thanks for showing us some great projects.
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
I have more fun making quilts from leftovers than anything else I make. I just love seeing the scrap piles shrink and the new things grow.
I absolutely agree! I especially love making stained glass blocks.
Yes, I love scrappy and 2.5 inch strips. Thanks for the ideas.
Great instructions. Easy to follow. Will also be making this with children’s fabric and another one in all floral prints. Can’t wait to try this technique!
Wonderful!
Thank you for these videos. I love them and especially liked that you did not iron your strips first. If I had to iron all my old strips first, I wouldn't have been so eager to start. Thanks!
Both quilts are very nice Love the using up scrapes
Thanks so much!
They look fabulous. I love the border on the Christmas one.
I agree...the border is perfect.
On the Halloween quilt, I love the fabric that is black with large green dots...makes it look like some eyes peering out between the other fabrics.
Thanks so much! 😊
A wonderful lesson in overcoming one's fears of free motion quilting. Thanks for showing us how to keep the faith in ones self.
Enjoyed this video. Great use of scraps. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
The quilts turned out beautifully! I am really enjoying this series. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Both quilts are fantastic! The border on the Christmas quilt really keeps it from being too busy. Enjoying this series on 2-1/2 inch strips!
I just found your series. It took me less than a couple minutes to tell myself that your machine was a bernina, and y😮es, it was a model I either currently had or one I owned. These days, I am down to 3 models, my bernina, a juki tl-2010q, and a babylock destiny. I am starting from the back, lol. Thanks for the memories.
I have loved this series!!!! Maybe in the future use some 5” scrappy quilts.
🤔
@@thequiltedforestmaybe she thinks about 5" strips? Simply squares, I assume, would work the best.
Wonderful. Fast. Beautiful. 🎶💖💐
I love how you put the solid green IN the block layout. Brilliant
Thanks. So many 2 1/2" straps that need a place in the world. Enjoying the series. 😊
I'm really enjoying the series! I hope there will be an Orphan Block series coming up!

Great video on using
2- 1/2" strips. Looking forward to seeing more video's.
I took up pieceing and quilting after 40 years about 3 or 4 years ago. The internet and creators like you have been truly inspiring; but, one thing I figured out is that I really didn't want to have buckets and buckets of "spare parts!" So, I have been pretty careful about patterns that use up as much of the fabric as possible. Evenso, I still have lots of stuff left over, so am looking forward to implementing your great ideas for using it all up! Thanks for great content!
Love this series! Great use of scraps
Terrific series!

Yayyy I found another one of your videos 🎉
That stash ❤ I’m making my 1st quilt and I threw away the triangles made from cutting my 3.5 strips for my border. I KNOW I KNOW. WRONG 😂 I’m still learning. Thanks for this. 😊
Excellent tutorial…you are fantastic! ❤
Beautiful work 😊
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?
Nice pattern. I, too, love going down memory lane as I sew.
like your quilt
Just came across your series. They're enjoyable to watch.
Such beautiful quilts from odds and ends! I am just starting out, so this is very encouraging!🙏
Wonderful!
Love both of those,so pretty.something for me to think about doing during these winter months..I also plan to make new sewing machine covers from some of my leftover strips
I really like your ideas for using scraps, with simple and practical designs. If you allow me a suggestion, could you put the measurements and quantities of blocks written on the screen? This would make it much easier for those, like me, who barely understand spoken English and use measurements in centimeters. Anyway, I'm waiting for the new projects.
I'm enjoying your strip quilts very much, and I'm always waiting for your next video to see what you come up with 😊
I love watching this , great teach and idea , we're you watching from?

I love that layout with the border on the Christmas Quilt.
Both of the quilts are pretty and cute!! I love the touch of green on the Christmas quilt and both your backings are perfect. I never think of making table runners. They would be so quick and easy and would make great gifts. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much!
Wow! That’s a LOT of scraps. lol I love these series especially since I just organized my scraps.
I’m making a quilt by Pat Sloan Scrappy Happy Little Wishes that has 2 1/2” squares in a 9 patch in the centre of stars.
I have cut lots of the extra fabric from projects into 3 1/2 and 2 1/2” squares. The 2 1/2” squares I use as leaders and Enders for all my projects putting dark and light pieces together. I had piles of these and have been able to use them in this quilt pattern!!!!
I’ve been getting so many ideas for a huge bin of 2 1/2 strips I have! This is such a great series!!!
Love these. Thank you
This is great…thank you for sharing!
