Hi Becky! It has been wonderful to have such great friends. It's been great fun to continue to sew and know that these quilts will benefit others. Thanks for watching and for all your support.
Fantastic! I can already see how I can use this with some of the piles and piles of bits and pieces in my stash! Thanks for another great video and pattern. At least the first one will be a Quilt of Valor since most of my fabrics are red/white and blue! Oodles of Northcott patriotic lines will come first!
Once again I find your tutorials awesome and your patterns stunning I love this randomization and the ability to change things up a bit. Thank you thank you for going through the work to do the math for us. As always looking forward to your next video.
Thank you!! Great pattern. I’m putting this on my to do list. I recently purchased some high quality fabrics at a “yard sale.” I spent $200. The value is estimated at 3 times that. I feel very lucky. This pattern looks like it could work with some of the fat quarters. 👏👏
Oh wow! What a treasure trove. I love working with scraps and the unexpected and trying to put together something beautiful from a random collection of things. Have fun with your new treasures!
Mathematical what a great name and really great quilt. As always so good that you explained which way to lay the pieces watching the binding strips following a straight path.
Thanks Claire! It can be a bit free form in terms of how to sew all the pieces together, but you definitely want to avoid the "y" seams! Thanks for watching.
Such a beautiful pattern and it fits in my math brain. I'll put it on my try later list. Now, this is not a blow off but rather a pragmatic decision made due to my health situation. I don't want to have more than two unfinished quilts at one time. I am not 50 with boundless energy, but my quilting passion (want-to) thinks it is 50. Beautiful work and your charities are blessed. 🎶💐💖🫂
Hi Carla! Thanks for your message. I admire your restraint in managing your unfinished projects! I hope you do give this a try at some point. Thanks so much for your ongoing support.
Thanks Cynthia! It is great to be able to showcase large-scale prints. Tula's fabric has a definite vibe about it - a signature style, for sure. Thanks for watching.
Very fun! Wish I had the Canadian fabric here in the U.S. Time to get my passport out and take a drive from Oregon to British Columbia! Thank you, Michelle! Marion
I really enjoyed learning about this pattern. I think it’s very versatile yet mostly simple to put together (I say that before I start!). Thanks for the great instructions and ideas. When I make it, I’ll be sure to send you a pic or two.
This is so fun! I'm a Newer quilter, and this REALLY is COOL!🎉 I'M EXCITED to try this. Thank you for sharing this with us, and sharing the pattern. Love it. YOU demonstrate and explain VERY well. 🍀💖🤟🙏🌹🦓
Thanks so much Liz! I hope you do give this a try and note some of the tips in the video and the pattern (like pressing the seams open!). Thanks for watching.
Hi Maureen! What a wonderful project to celebrate those who help. I hope you can add this pattern to your rotation for these quilts. Thanks for watching.
I’ve been waiting for you to let us see how to recreate your gorgeous quilt Michelle 🥰 It’s just so gorgeous ❤Thank you so much for sharing it with us. So excited 👏👏🎉 🇬🇧
Hi Beth - so glad you like it! The fabric choice really makes a difference. I was thinking the Tula Pink fabrics would look really good with a dark blue border (instead of white) - so many options. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I've been looking for a pattern for fat quarter bundle of Morris Modernized fabric that I've had for several years. This pattern should be perfect as several of the fabrics are directional and this pattern suits the aesthetic of the Arts & Crafts era.
Thanks Heather! I hope you give it a try - or maybe use it as inspiration for a cross-stitch pattern.... imagine little images inside the boxes created by the border?!? Might be cute. Thanks for watching.
Hi Cheryl! Mine have all had some sort of "theme" so far, but this would work really well even if your "theme" was something to guide the way you sort your scraps. Maybe "blue" is your theme, or flowers, or autumn, or beach.... anything really. I hope you give this a try. Thanks for watching.
Such a beautiful quilt! Thank you for this tutorial and for sharing your pattern with us. I have a Tula Pink Fat Quarter bundle and now I know what to do with it.
Michele, AWESOME box of fabrics!!! It is like Christmas!!! ....... What an amazing tutorial!!! LOTS of great information here!! Thanks!! Thanks also for the pattern. xoxo e. N.B. 🇨🇦
Thanks so much Trish and welcome to my little corner of the internet! There are lots of videos on my channel for scrappy quilts and the free patterns are on my website. I hope you find others you enjoy.
Thank you for such a thorough , essy to understand and inspiring tutorial in which one can use all manner of fabric choices. The finished quilt is very easy on the eye , asymmetrical without being disturbing or restless. Definitely on my " to do" list..towards the top!
Hi Michelle! Thanks for the pattern! I just downloaded and printed it. I am going to make a John Deere-themed quilt with a pile of scraps I just acquired.
I just saved this quilt pattern into my “pattern keeper” (CollaNote) and discovered I already have a few of your patterns. Somehow your patterns seem well suited to scrappiness and provide some asymmetrical interest. Thanks for all of these.
Hi Rhonda! I love math too - and there is so much potential to take math concepts and turn them into pattern designs. Christmas fabric would be wonderful! Thanks for watching.
The mistakes are real!!! I film in real time, and definitely don't have a second or third version waiting in the wings if I make a mistake....so hopefully we all learn together and I can save someone else from making the same mistake as me. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Gail! It lends itself to so many different types of fabrics - and changing the border fabric would make a real different as well - imagine this one with a blue border, for example?? Enjoy!
Hi Michelle, I’m new to your channel, and will definitely look forward to your next videos! I love this quilt pattern. I’ve got so much scrap fabric, and this will be a great way to use them. I checked out your website and love all the free patterns. Thank you for that! I started quilting during the pandemic and now it’s my go-to stress relieving hobby.
Hi Andree! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I love scrappy quilts and you will find that most of my quilts and videos focus on scraps. Not all, but lots! If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Four Patch Trellis quilt pattern and video - that one is excellent for using really small pieces. Some might argue that 8.5 inch pieces in this video aren't really "scraps" - and it's a good discussion question. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Karen! I hope you find some other interesting patterns on my website. I love scrappy projects and there are lots of options there. Thanks for watching.
Hi Kim! I know, right?!? When I first peaked into the box, I could hardly believe my eyes! And there is still more to work with. It's going to be fun!! Thanks for watching.
I just googled Snack Shack fabric and it looks so cute!!! Imagine using yellow fabric for the borders??? That would be so bright and wild! Have fun with the pattern.
Thanks Emi! It really it! There is a lot of freedom in a design like this and it is easy enough to get some really amazing results - even for a beginner. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Joy and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I hope you find some other fun videos and check out the other patterns on my website. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the free pattern and detailed video! And yay for pressing seams open! I find it does, indeed, make for better matching. PS your website isn’t hyperlinked as of a day after the video was released.
In the final sewing, don't be afraid of partial seams if you "sew yourself into a corner." Of course, planning the grout lines well is best, but I would rather sew a partial seam than do much seam ripping.
Nice selection of colours and patterns. Great pattern for fitting these properly sized blocks together. Just one quick question…do you computer generate the whole quilt layout or personally create the layout then generate the graphic layout or is it a combination?
Hi Denise - thanks for your question. The short answer is that I use a mix of approaches. For this project, I made the Blue Hawaii in 2022, and then the Star Wars quilt earlier this year. They were the guide for the computer design and pattern. Same with the Four Patch Trellis on my channel - I made the entire quilt top, then drew it in the design software. But Fly Away was the opposite - I drew it in the software first, played around with the position of the blocks, and then made the quilt. Thanks for watching.
Hi Glenda! I make mistakes all the time and if I can save someone else from making the same one - or at least being aware of how to correct a mistake - then we make progress together. Thanks for watching.
Incredibly kind of you to not only make this pattern free but to put out such a comprehensive video. Thank you!
Thanks Dawn! Happy to contribute my little bit to the quilting community. Thanks for watching.
What a kind friend to share with you so you can sew while waiting for your shipment. It’s a win win situation for both of you.
Hi Becky! It has been wonderful to have such great friends. It's been great fun to continue to sew and know that these quilts will benefit others. Thanks for watching and for all your support.
These are amazing! Thanks for showing us how to make your pattern. Can’t wait to try it using coordinating scraps. ❤
Fantastic! I can already see how I can use this with some of the piles and piles of bits and pieces in my stash! Thanks for another great video and pattern. At least the first one will be a Quilt of Valor since most of my fabrics are red/white and blue! Oodles of Northcott patriotic lines will come first!
Hi Linda! So glad this will be useful for you and so exciting that it will contribute to your Quilts of Valor (Valour) efforts. Thanks for watching.
Once again I find your tutorials awesome and your patterns stunning I love this randomization and the ability to change things up a bit. Thank you thank you for going through the work to do the math for us. As always looking forward to your next video.
Thanks so much Loreen! I'm glad you like this. Thanks for your kind words and ongoing support.
Thank you!! Great pattern. I’m putting this on my to do list. I recently purchased some high quality fabrics at a “yard sale.” I spent $200. The value is estimated at 3 times that. I feel very lucky. This pattern looks like it could work with some of the fat quarters. 👏👏

Hi Carla! Thanks for your message. I admire your restraint in managing your unfinished projects! I hope you do give this a try at some point. Thanks so much for your ongoing support.
I've never sewn with Tula Pink fabric. This seems to really allow the fabric to shine with the large pieces. Thanks for sharing
Marion

Thanks so much Liz! I hope you do give this a try and note some of the tips in the video and the pattern (like pressing the seams open!). Thanks for watching.
That was amazing and perfect for me as our UK care leavers group make quilts that are basically elongated crib quilts.. Thank you for your generosity.

Thank you for this fantastic quilt pattern!
Thanks Heather! I hope you give it a try - or maybe use it as inspiration for a cross-stitch pattern.... imagine little images inside the boxes created by the border?!? Might be cute. Thanks for watching.
Awesome ❤❤❤ Thank you very great way to use fat quarters and scraps
Hi Cheryl! Mine have all had some sort of "theme" so far, but this would work really well even if your "theme" was something to guide the way you sort your scraps. Maybe "blue" is your theme, or flowers, or autumn, or beach.... anything really. I hope you give this a try. Thanks for watching.
Exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks.

I just saved this quilt pattern into my “pattern keeper” (CollaNote) and discovered I already have a few of your patterns. Somehow your patterns seem well suited to scrappiness and provide some asymmetrical interest. Thanks for all of these.
Thanks Nikki! I love scrappy quilts and designing ways to use up the bits and pieces! Thanks for watching.
