Hmm. Found it difficult to even write a comment. Very honest and thoughtful conversation although I couldn't help but notice the pain in Star's eyes, a bitter sweet pain of acceptance and letting go! This is not to diminish Michael's experience of the closure by any means but Star's stoicism really spoke to me.

At first, I was saddened to hear about your breakup, but it's a natural part of life. You both demonstrate maturity in how you handled the situation.

Thank you for sharing. I heard a lot of "I" and "me" which is fine but understand, as someone who has been with my husband for 8 years, selfishness is the beginning of the downfall of the relationship. Best of luck to you both.

Oh gosh… this may be in the top 3 of the most touching episodes ever! I’m sorry that you had to make this decision, but I’m so happy you guys seem to be well. I’m even jealous, I’ve never done anything like this with any of my exes! You are so mature! I want to truly thank you for using your story as a learning experience for everyone, I don’t think I could talk publicly about such a personal decision. I hope you both are very happy. Sorry to hear about your break up. I always enjoyed the episodes with Star. Broke up with my ltr of 6 years last summer and wish I could have implemented some of these steps but in my case, it was just that my spouse was always angry and cold with me after a certain point and I said "I'm not dealing with this bullshit anymore".

This must have been a very difficult episode to air. Your candor is refreshing. I imagine this subject matter affects most, if not all gay men. It’s a very hopeful view on migrating from a romantic to a friend relationship. Also, I would also think that this is very relevant for mature gay men, who have been in a LTR, who might be at this crossroads. In fact, I believe it may shed a more favorable light on single gay men. I think it’s a very healthy approach to what can be a thorny issue. And, yes, time is of the essence if both parties agree to the change. One can’t reclaim an earlier time in their life. It marches right on. So it behooves partners to have an open mind, when it comes to this subject.
Thank you being transparent and authentic in your podcast. All previous podcasts with you two definitely displayed an electrifying chemistry. As a result I am curious what do you think were the moments that brought you together, and what do you believe led you to this point of uncoupling?
It seems like it was going good in terms of open communication, loving (as they clearly are still friends after). why end it? idk if I got the exact reason. Not that I need to pry, but in the context of being open and honest, I am just wondering, why end a really good thing?

Can't believe people are pushing their views and agenda on when to break up, when two guys are literally sharing their experience.
If you think, "everything isn't disposable" and you need to stick together and work it out, it will get to a point where you're frustrated with the relationship and you'll eventually break up.(I've never been in a relationship but I'm talking from perspective of some of the couples I've seen)
It's easy to say "western culture is so bad and they don't value loyally" let me tell you as someone who is from the culture where marriage is considered unbreakable and there are couples are forced by relatives to stick together, fake loyalty is worse than no loyalty.

(The only time I ever got even sort of upset was with my 1st bf)
If the relationship is toxic, I find it liberating when it happens. It’s like a weight is lifted.

If it's toxic, yeah. but if it's a great, loving, fulfilling relationship, you would be devastated if it couldn't work out for some big reason

Honestly, seeing the western perspective of relationships, they are so quick to just throw things away.
Wishful thinking..a friendship after a break up can only last as long as a new partner enters the picture. New boyfriends don't want old boyfriends hanging around.
Sounds like a bit of a blanket statement. That hasn't been my experience, but I can see why some people would feel that way.
I completely agree, plus they were already in an open relationship, so "used to seeing one another with another guy". so separating already borderline there.
